The Forward is gorgeous, I for sure will make that my 3rd addition. Captivating is the perfect descriptive for French Defense, that and Queening won me over immediately!!! The Soulmate collection overall is my fave out of the two! Great overview Vee🤗🥰

Veronica, when it comes to Gardez, you didn’t tell the people that the magic *really* happens in the dry down; it’s the sweetness that emerges from those florals and the mix of the popcorn is AMAZING. To me, it’s what the LORD Jesus smelled like😂. And, I might add, which is why I have a bottle of Gardez right now and Checkmate arriving in three days.

Hello Veronica! I like some of these Mind Games, or at least the ones I’ve tested but I just don’t love them enough to get them on full price. Even 10% off is still expensive in my opinion. I do admire the bottles especially the first ones that came out. I wish So Avant Garde would offer them in better or more amazing deals. I wish Jomashop would sell them in the future, that would be awesome. 😊😊😊

Fantastic video! I have been interested in the house for a long time - the chess concept is so cool. From your description, Queening sounds right up my alley ((I love coconut with a lot of notes) but I know I would be disappointed and annoyed bc of the lasting power). Forward sounds really good, too, love a woody fragrance with a citrus note to lift the beautiful dark notes 🙂 (wearing (a dupe of) The Noir today).

Hey, Gardez is French, so it’s pronounced gar-day. Like ballet. It’s the second person formal/second person plural conjugation of garder, which means to keep or guard. It’s also where the fencing expression “en garde!” comes from.

I tested French Defense in store and love it. I have the travel set of the first collection and like most but I do like French Defense from the second collection the most. It is on my wish list for sure.

I hadn't heard of Mind Games before today but was introduced to the line at Dillard's when I went in there to try some Nishane fragrances. The saleslady had me trying several at the store, and I wanted to see reviews at home this evening. I'm so glad I came across your review. I must say my favorite from the line so far is French Defense (I also love Lost Cherry by Tom Ford). My 2nd favorite would be Forward, and I also liked Queening. Unfortunately, my husband doesn't enjoy wearing fragrance because I there are some in this line that I think I would like for him - Gambit being one.

YES!! I'm so glad you got your nose on The Forward...for some it's so simple/basic but it's probably my FAVORITE due to versatility and the bold burst in the opening. I adore this and citrus dominated scents are hit or miss. I really hope I'm able to win the olfactory one or I'll probably just purchase that particular one on my own because from the first time I heard "The Perfume Guy" describe it I rushed to Nieman to sample them all and THIS one.....my heart.

Double attack iWorks beautifully on my skin. My skin chemistry pulls out the woody note and the chocolate is gorgeous. Lasts a long time on me as well, it’s just extremely expensive for me to get a full bottle.

My dad was an international chess player in the 60s and 70s and got to be sub champion once. I love all those bottles, the names, the openings, the movements, players,and what the names all mean. Even though he was an absent father and I am a kick ass player, I chose not to because it triggers me...but now that he's gone (and I buried a chess set with him), I am seriously thinking of collecting them all. I'm still leaning to J'Adoube because of the pomegranate, Forward, French Defense. Ruy Lopez was a Spanish chess player from the 1500s I think. Gambit, like Queen's Gambit, is what they call a white opening move.

I tried Queening. At first I didn’t think it was for me, but it grew on me. I get a fresh cotton candy aspect that keeps me intrigued throughout the wear. ☺️ The price point is not in my budget right now.

I bought the Amber set from Neiman, and so far in it, I've smelled them all but only worn French Defense from that set. I did get samples of the others, as well, and have worn Grand Master and Gambit that I purchased separately. I didn't care too much for Gardez because I did get that Popcorn note in the base after the dry down. Anyway, you mentioned that Queening didn't last long, so my question was have you considered possibly layering it with either Aaron Terence Hughes Carbon or Juliet has a Gun Not a Perfume? Have a great day!
So, interestingly, the guys say they smell the popcorn note but the ladies do not. 😲 I rarely layer but using JHAG Not a Perfume would be a good one for Queening. 👍

Some are moderately lasting, but yeah. A few a more on the low longevity end.

s soon as you said the price, I said “Nevermind”😄 But I am sure some will love them. I also feel that when a fragrance is almost $400 it shoukd be more than “fleeting” in longevity. I feel that some of these perfumers are just ripping people off. I am not trying to be a brat, but that’s just my opinion. But the way I used to play a mean game of chess, but haven’t played in many years. Great game!

Such as, if I make this decision , this or that could happen and then such and such. You begin to be able to see future consequences of decisions made in the moment. I swear by this. I hear you, but keep in mind that travel sprays like these are now creeping into the $30 plus range EACH. So when you factor in the packaging and the travel case, these are similarly priced to designer travel sprays.

The one time I reviewed a sample and said that I was going to return the full bottle unopened because I don’t like the fragrance, although I respected and appreciated the house (Initio), someone put an irate comment to the effect that I could not afford 😊 it, that’s why I returned it.
