I had an issue with the adjustable functionality, but overall the top box itself is well made, large capacity and should outlast the bike. The bracket most certainly doesn’t suck on all bikes. The Africa Twin is not a fun bike to work on wither its replacing air filer, adjusting valves etc…Thanks for watching.
Hello Speedytrip, Thanks to this video and your inputs we have been able to react: - We have corrected the manual that certainly had an error - We have also created the video that we have posted on our support channel in which we explain how to mount and how to use the case easily. You can watch the video here: ruclips.net/p/PLDHhspekxV7gjz928W_Ntsym-aKVfMdUt Anyway, we regret the transport service you received and we hope that the new packaging also guarantees a better delivery. Hope you can enjoy our products leaving competitors behind ;) and welcome to our #SHADRIDER community
Thanks for the update, but I just had a look on both the US and Spanish website and instructions for this rack are still as pointed out in my video (step 8 and 9). As for how to use the case, its quite simple (though another customer contacted me asking how to open the top box when he received it), but its still hard to set it in the largest configuration, might have something to do with the damage it received during shipping...but at least I don't have to change the size too often... Otherwise I've been happy with it so far, its been really useful, I just wish I could have received a top box in mint condition, and not have to figure out the wrong instructions, hopefully future customers will avoid that part :)
Hello again Speedytrip, We just wanted to complete the previous answer with further information from our technical department: -We are sorry to see that the box arrived in such a bad condition. Here in Barcelona we make periodical reviews on our shipping methods, one of our goals is to ensure that our products are received in a perfect state in North America. We are constantly improving the packaging of the fitting kits to avoid any chipping. Dually noted. -Please note that this SHAD fitting kit for the Africa Twin 2019 is engineered for hard rides. That’s why it is more complex to install and includes more fitting points than Givi or from the SHAD model you had before on your previous bike. This change was made since Honda modified the tail on the 2019 model, they made it lighter but less strong, so this was our motivation to develop a more secure and hard-core fitting system for the top case. -The expandability of the case is a breeze, once you figure out the trick. Please find here a video that we made for some tips that you can share to these customers: ruclips.net/video/hAwrn6zpPy0/видео.html -Yes, We have also installed this fitting kit on the Africa twin 2019. You are right, the plastic clips are a hiccup. -The instruction booklet is already checked with the technical office and will be uploaded in our website at the beginning of next week. We will be pleased to send it to you. P.S. Us here at Shad have purchased a 2019 model. And we would say in 2020 we will provide a tutorial video for the top & side fitting kit installation. We hope soon to have this video ready for our users. Thank you again for your great review and your thoughts. We appreciate these feedbacks that make us better. @@SHADmotorcycles Thanks for the update, as for the mechanism not working well, I know how to do it, its quite simple, one side works fine, the other side requires way more force than necessary to put it in the XL setting. Its clearly not working normally. Maybe there's a seal inside that was knocked out of place during shipping and thats what I have to compresse to be able to use the tallest setting? Its been that way since day 1.
@@Speedytrip Thanks for the additional feedback. We would like to have more info of why one side of the mechanism is not working and we can check with our engineers. Is it possible that you send us a quick video at online@shad.es, even with your cell phone of this issue? Please note that we updated the instruction booklet and you can find attached for your reference. Also, soon we will have updated on our website and in future productions of this fitting kit. Thanks for the heads-up!
@@SHADmotorcycles I sent them an email about a week ago, never heard back from them. Also, I noticed the instructions were updated but the bolts are still wrong: ruclips.net/video/fsA_MTiUZr0/видео.html If you insert the bolts from the bottom you can't reassemble the tail.
I have one on a Moto Guzzi V85TT and instalation was a problem with the supplied mounting plate since one screw just wouldn't fit. With the aluminium D1BTRPA2 instalation was very easy and without issues. But my experience with GIVI isn't any better. The windshield doesn't perfectly fit.
Great video man! Just installed mine yesterday, your audience can check the complete installation guide on the Nc750x on my last video. For the Honda NC750X the installation went Flowless. Greetings!
Thanks you made a great video too. Intall looks much easier on the NC750X hehe Also noticed your mechanism to adjust the top box size seems to be working much smoother than mine.
@@evgenychirilenko9366 Maybe this picture will help? You can see where the stock rack stops and where the topbox starts. It doesn't really shift it back. I had a smaller SHAD top box on my 2017 that bolted directly on the stock rack and the box started at about the same place. www.dropbox.com/s/khe2o6jjtwmzlzt/topbox.jpg?dl=0
@@Speedytrip that does help and look nice indeed, thou a bit more pendulum possibly added to the rear since the box plate has to move back a bit to catch new mount.
@@evgenychirilenko9366 I've ridden it at 150km/h (on closed circuit) no problem (with and without side bags). I don't think you'll find any top box of that capacity that will be much closer to the passenger seat, as the passenger wouldn't have the required space. Its always about compromises. Smaller top boxes will always be lighter, but will have much smaller capacity.
Its a bit more than a plastic box but yes this one was quite expensive. Their smaller ones are much simpler, both box and bracket, and price reflects that.
If you watched the video you’ll know why I wasn’t able to get all the installation. You can contact Shad and ask them to do a step by step install video as they should. If anything from this video you will have learned that the installation on the africa twin is a complete pain in the *ss and the instructions are incorrect. Good luck!
Where is the actual top box review? All I saw was complaints about mounting plate.

Does that mount place the top box far back?
Its perfect for sitting a passenger if that is your concern :) The main purpose of the bracket is really reinforcement.
