Edward may have molested others before. You can see why children are afraid to tell their parents when they are molested or sexually assaulted because they are afraid they will not be believed. Brittany's mother didn't believe her brother did this even with all the evidence. If you don't stand for your own children, who do you expect to stand for them. Your child comes before your brother.

@WVmom63 I'm so sorry you had to deal with that but that is what happens. Especially when it is someone in the family. How many stories do we have to hear where a child is threatened with no one will believe you. They use that threat because it works. That is why it is important to let our children and even their friends hear from adults that if someone touches them to tell a responsible adult. Keep telling them until someone hears you and believes.

@WVmom63 I know exactly how you feel. My mom knew what my grandfather was capable of doing and she still left me alone with him. It started from the age of 6 to the age of 15, He died 2 weeks after my birthday. I said the same thing you did and I mean it with every fiber in my body.
I am so sorry you had to go through that. My heart truly goes out to you.

Make it up as you go along. Now Edward's probably done it before, and yet he didn't have the sense not to describe a scenario for the FBI. So how would he get away with it over and over. Children are afraid to tell on people who threaten them or their family.

I hope they actually got the murderer, not just the easiest scapegoat. Sadly recent years we’ve seen how often law enforcement has operated unjustly against the poor, the slow or those they see as “low in society”. I won’t forget how badly FBI fumble cases of indigenous women, merely because agents don’t care. Serial killers hunting women yet fbi can’t waste their time to put a story like this on air…. People want to believe their intellectual disabled relative are angels and I totally sympathise with that. As a mother I would be protecting my child who didn’t stand a chance against this. She trusted her uncle and willingly left with him thinking it was like any other time. If the evidence showed me it was someone else I dearly loved that did this, I could understand the initial shock and denial but I would be more inclined to protect my child who no longer had a voice not the person who the evidence clearly shows did this. I know everyone reacts differently to these situations but this is one situation I have a difficult time understanding why the mother and grandmother would be willing to revoke their testimony to protect him. Maybe this is the issue with him, they were probably used to lying and covering for him his entire life because they considered him to be “slow” and incapable of caring for himself. 🤷🏻‍♀️ such a sad tragedy

This poor girl was thrown under the bus by her own family . This mother is ludicrous. Her brother lied and put himself with her daughter . Her brother had a vision of the actual murder / scene ( he may be schizophrenic). Forensics puts her in his vehicle.
I know people grieve differently, but when it comes to children, parents usually preserve their rooms . It appears to me she went into her daughters room in anger and broke things because she was mad at her daughter for her brother’s indictment. She even changed her story toward the end !
ME removed 2 pieces of tape from her mouth . This indicates a premeditated murder in my opinion. Does he always carry tape around?

She maintained he was innocent in a 2004 re-centencing that saw his sentence reduced by 20 years, so he would be eligible for parole now. I can't find anything after that, but I am guessing that she just cant deal with the idea that her brother raped and killed her daughter.

How many children fall victim to opportunistic pedophiles., due to parent neglect? Why would a parent leave home to visit relatives, and just leave a young girl at a park? Then leave her to come home to an empty house, and message her through a dodgy young neighbour, telling her to make her way alone to join the family. That’s a lot to expect of an 11 year old girl. Very neglectful, and many opportunities for her to be abducted.
