    Thsnks so much for posting this! I am staying here for the first time next week and was having a mini freak out of my uncertainty. There are many bad reviews, but I see Selina is actively responding which is a good sign. Also having reasonable expectations of culture etc helps. This video helped me. I hope my experience goes well 🙏🏾

      Hey gypsymoon, thanks for watching and reaching out! I loved Cartagena as a dance and nightlife destination. Lots of rooftop bars and dancing in the area! There are mixed reviews of the Selina Cartagena for sure. I think it comes down to your expectations and experience with the other guests and it sounds like you’re doing a great job prepping yourself. I hope you have an amazing time! And if you love life sala and Latin music, be sure to hit up Club Havana just a few short blocks away. There is cover but it worth it!

    Thanks for your video, I didn't realize coworking was a separate charge, luckily the rates for cowork dont look too bad. Interestingly it was showing only the micro room when i was first looking now more room types are available for next month. I'll be skipping the micro-room since you cant just go to another floor if someone is taking forever. I'm doing a trial run as a digital nomad for a few weeks so this will be an interesting experience.

      Hi Poley! How exciting! Welcome to the digital nomad life!! Many of us did a trial run as we started to feel things out. If you have questions, don’t hesitate to ask! Cowork is an extra charge for guests not on Selina’s CoLive package. If you’re staying with CoLive; cowork access is always included. For shorter stays, yes it is an added charge. You may be able to get a discount for a week long pass. It’s not a big discount, usually a couple dollars, but hey, every bit helps! You can ask the front desk when you check in.
      As far as micro restrooms, this is the only location I’ve ever had a problem. Really surprised they don’t have any overflow restrooms here. So yes, I’d recommend a standard at this location or a smaller dorm room. Cartagena is a fun and vibrant city. You’re going to have an amazing time!
      Can’t wait to hear about your experiences! Always here to help!

      I read so many really bad reviews after booking so I may end up cancelling and just going with airbnb :( it sounds like this is the worst location of any Selina. A few bad reviews is ok since many people aren't experienced at traveling but nearly every one was bad.

      Oh wow. I definitely wouldn’t put it as a “bad” location. Yes, there is room for improvement on it. Restaurant service is slow but that is a Cartagena thing, not limited to the Selina. There is noise from the rooftop music into the rooms on the upper levels and the micro bathroom issue you saw. To me, that’s my complete list of cons for the location.
      Depending on the experience you’re looking for, staying in an Airbnb can feel isolating early in a digital nomad experience. It can be great once you have an established friend group and routine on meeting new people. You may already be in a routine on solo travel so you’ll know best but a consideration for success is if or how you want to connect with others.
      Are you planning on visiting multiple locations on this trip or all in Cartagena? Not sure how much time you have but mixing and matching from Selina and air bnb a bit may help too. :)

    Im thoroughly confused about how you explained the bathroom situation. Maybe you could spell it out in a comment for all to see?

      Hi Dolby, sure thing!
      Do you mean when the video talks about no overflow bathrooms? What we mean, is that usually hotels and public places have a general restroom for anyone to use. That is not the case here. The only restrooms are those attached to your room, or the cowork or restroom space. This isn’t a big deal for most guests, but for micro rooms, there is literally one stall for all four micro rooms. So if someone is hogging the one micro bathroom, there is literally no other restroom on the property for you to use after hours. This happened to me twice and I went to the front desk for help. I nearly peed my pants waiting an hour for the person twice during my stay. Hope that helps clarify!

    Hello! Would you recommend selina or el viajero for a week stay??

    • @adventureontheside
      @adventureontheside  Месяц назад

      Hi Rokardio- Thanks for reaching out. Both are great! El Viajero leans more party/ social and is in old town, but it has a smaller outdoor space with a minimal view. Youll also need to walk 5 mins to Gestamani. Selina has a cowork area if you need to get any work done, and two rooftops including one looking over the harbor at the sunset. But its trade off is that it ia a 5-minute walk from the old town walls and instead has you around the corner from the Gestamani action. I'd say El Viajero if you want social and party and go for Selina if you want coworking or a great view. You'll have a great time no matter what!
