What are the best things to do in Cartagena?
What to see in Cartagena?
Where to eat in Cartagena?
What is the best food in Cartagena?
Is Cartagena expensive? Is Cartagena cheap? Is Cartagena safe?

Is the ceviche as good as people say it is?
These are all great questions! Here's a to-the-point video on what we consider the best things to do in Cartagena. It's a breakdown of all the best places and things to do if you only have a handful of days there, and some tourist traps to watch out for!
It's easy to get overwhelmed with the abundance of options available so we put together what we did and loved (Nathan always does quite a bit of research before going).

When it comes not to cities, but to countries because of the landscape, then the Philippines is not to miss, as well as the Maldives, Fiji, Samoa and a few Carribean countries as well

Thank you for an amazing, informative video from a photographer's point of view. I have a random question, how much is acceptable to tip there, particularly the native ladies with baskets that pose with you for pics? I'm going there at the end of the month. Thnx again!
this place looks amazing !
It is Ernesto! From the food to the nightlife, Cartagena is definitely worth visiting!!

Thanks Linette! Haha yesss... they'll getcha! They are very talented, too. Thanks for your comment. :)
Beware nothing is free in Colombia even if they tell you it is.

Such a perfect video

Omg so pretty I want to get out of Miami . Just to have a change of scenery, change of heart new new people 🥲
Colombia’s got a lot to offer. We also loved Medellin a lot. It’s always good to switch it up! ✌🏽
Very good video
One question, did you come across issues with drinking the water. Or when you are ordering local.. is there an issue with the water they use to make your drinks?
Nice video, but you really should get out of the downtown and see the rest of the city.
Joseph Boyle thanks Joseph. Maybe next time! :) hope you’re doing okay during this time!
I strongly agree & haven't visited yet (late this year) Too many travel videos are so commercial & edited they literally aren't worth watching.. I hope you enjoyed your trip though.
I'm going in May can you tell me some places to go?
Cartagena is an average small Latin American city. Very beautiful things to see and also poverty. I agree, you should visit the whole city. When we can see everything, even those ugly things It's when we really understand the culture.
Awesome video! What equipment did you shoot it with?
A lumix GH5 👍🏼
Amazing place Cartagena is!
Yes it is Huzefa, such an awesome place!! :)
@@ONWorldTravel I do want to travel to Colombia in general one day. No idea when I'll get the chance now lol
Cartagena ,.....with latin music ....so nice ....
💃🏼
Awesome video What camera were u using
Thank you Tech'N Mechanics! Panasonic GH5 🤘🏽
do you have a list of coffee shops and the places you have been if you can please thank you
I think I mentioned them in the description 👍🏽
Palenque is a construction equivalent to the wooden forts in the wild west, they were built by escaped slaves and were the first republics on the american continent. They are found in other countries too..
The Palenque close to Cartagena is San Basilio de Palenque, in the 70s there was a moment when they had 3 world boxing champions in diffrent weights coming from that small town :)
amazing content, you deserve more views
Appreciate that Simon! We're just trying to make the best videos we can! :)
Great video, what camera do you use ?
Hey! We use a Panasonic Lumix GH5, it's great for vlogging and can take some nice photos too! 🤙🏽
How easy is it to find the horse and buggy rides?
I love Latin America! Calling street vendors "tourist traps" is a bit harsh -- They are just trying to make a living. When I first started traveling to Mexico and South America, it was definitely something to get used to, but I have nothing but respect for the men and women who walk the streets all day and night to make HONEST money. The vendors deserve respect and compassion, not judgement. Aside from that, LOL, I love your vlogging style and photography. Thanks for sharing! New subscriber here. I'm heading to Colombia in a couple weeks and arrive in Cartegena. I'm taking a few days to enjoy the city and I'm taking notes while watching this video.
Not always honest at all. I found them awful and real hustlers. Many have no respect for tourists ex the money we can send their way. They follow you, don't leave you alone. Never sit at an outdoor table- your meal will be ruined.
The street vendors are savages.. they won’t take No for an answer and become extremely aggressive. I understand everyone needs to make money and they live a hard life I would probably never understand, but not being able to walk five feet without being hit up to buy something or if you do decide to buy something they try to screw you over and charge you 3x the price and play games and try to scam you just ruins the whole experience of what could have been an amazing vacation in a beautiful place. Without regulating these street vendors Colombia will never be on top of the tourism industry
drinking hot coffee in that hot cartagena sun :P
Sometimes it's good to switch it up! And if we want to taste the real quality of the coffee we can't have ice cubes diluting it 😂
love it
Hell yea, Cartagena is 🔥
@@ONWorldTravel can't wait to go
Muy lindo ❤
Thanks!
Did you visit the beaches in Bocagrande? I spent a bit of time there. It's a gorgeous area!
Just so women know, expect a few men to flirt with female solo travelers either to get an easy ride into a developed country or to leech money from you. I was lucky to have had great friends in Manizales who treated me as they would have treated any local woman, but in Bogota and Cartagena, I met both types. Needless to say that I stayed away from the leeches and spent time with the gentlemen.
I am going solo next Wed to Monday, what hostels or hostel do you recommend thats near the clock tower and to make new friends?
Not too sure on hostels but I know it's pretty easy to make friends with other travelers!! All the best!
Es genial, si embargo les podría sugerir traducir sus vídeos al español, gracias
Great idea Daniel, we will put Spanish subtitles in next few weeks! Thanks for your support!
Watching this in Cartagena
That’s awesome, enjoy it!!
What is the name of the guitar song playing at the very end of your video?
I don't need you love by Alysha Sheldon
@@ONWorldTravel Thank you
I plan on visiting Colombia in the mere future, would you recommend Cartagena for first time tourists?
Yes, it’s an awesome first place to visit!
@@ONWorldTravel awesome! Thank you! One more thing I can’t speak Spanish to save my life would you recommend I learn, or have an interpreter with me?
@@golongcoreylong4099 I live in Cartagena and I can guide you
@@gdfgyertgr I’m down for that 🤙🏾
How much is a good price to give the rappers and the fruit ladies ?
Great video, but next time maybe choose a different mode of transportation around the city. Horses and other labour animals are notoriously overworked in many countries.
Thanks Maya, appreciate it!!
did you go to the el totumo mud volcano?
No we didn't, but hopefully next time!
Looks like Old San Juan with more locals around.
Axel ah really?? We’ve never been before. Thanks for your comment Axel. Hope you’re doing okay during this time!
Thats exactly what i thought too especially with the umbrellas
Exactamente es lo que acabo de notar
Lol I thought the same thing 😃 🇵🇷💪🇨🇴
did you guys go to the el totumo mud volcano?
Unfortunately we did not, we'll have to do it next time around! Thanks for the suggestion!
How long would you say is enough time in Cartagena? 4-5 days?
Yea that’s a perfect amount of time to see everything and not feel rushed! 🙌🏽
Sheesh I was searching where my surename come from then this vid pop up in my search
¡NUNCA HE VISTO A UNA PERSONA BEBER TANTO CAFÉ! jajaja ahora quiero un poco de café colombiano jajaja

We hope to visit Argentina when 'normal' travel resumes! :)
Wow!! It looks a lot like Old San Juan in Puerto Rico
That's what we've heard, we can't wait to go there too! Thanks for the support!
did you go to the el totumo mud volcano in Cartegna?
joe smith hey Joe! We didn’t! We’ll have to do our research and check it out next time. Thanks for your comment! 😃

here's a good video of the place. Definitly by daring and get dunked under the mud. Great experience.
😍
Thank youuuu! ❤️
Poor horses
What area of the city did you stay(hotel, etc)?
We stayed just outside Getsemani, it was about a 10 minute walk to the Old Town but much quieter.
I love the fact how its all Afro Caribbean!
Colombians like Cubans kind of white wash their country but in reality they are heavily African influenced both with people & culture!
Cuba is mostly Afro but the those miami refugees would make you think otherwise! Love Cartagena!
Is there restriction right now to travel to Colombia and visit the cities there for COVID19?
Not too sure at the moment, things have been changing a lot lately and we are currently living in the US...I'd join an Colombian expat group on Facebook
Is November a good time to visit?
November is a bit on the warmer side compared to Dec-April but still a great time to visit! The advantage is there are less tourists and flights should be cheaper..
bro my last name is cartagena now you just know there is a country in cartagena 😮😮😍
hahaha thats awesome!
is a city in a country
Is it safe to visit Cartagena? Does it really enjoy going there?
Felt very safe. They definitely cater the old town to tourists (where you spend a lot of your time). Highly recommend!
I'm from Colombia. Security in Latin America is not the same as in the first world. But yes, you can travel safe to cartagena. Just find someone to guide you and you'll enjoy the best experience
❤
🤙🏽
Just got back from Colombia. In Cartagena you will be harassed constantly by street rappers and club promoters from the afternoon to late into the night. Also to keep in mind that there are a lot of sex workers in the streets. Those women will not harass you nor talk to you, they will just stand there until a client goes up and talks to them. Other than that Cartagena was a great place to visit.
Avoid the horse carriage tour …. Those horses are in bad shape and they suffered a lot of accidents that harms them. Many people from Cartagena are asking to stop this form of animal cruelty but it seems that money comes first. Sometimes you can se one horse pulling a carriage with 6 people…this is not fair for the horse.
Are there any fun activities to do in Colombia?
The vendors are EXHAUSTING
I just give them the "leave me alone" look if it's gets too overbearing haha
@@ONWorldTravel I'm thinking about carrying a chicklets tray around my neck just so I can fit in a walk freely lol!
Getsemani and walled city maybe 1% of Cartagena. City has a population of about a million people. Not a backwater.
Good to know Mike
AAA production...in all aspects....but pre covid now
Thanks Chris!! Yea we hope things go back to normal soon so we can fully enjoy Colombia again! :)
Cartagena is the best city from colombia
It's so beautiful there, good vibes!
back when it was safe to travel
Don't know how it is now, but it felt very safe when we were there. I know things are not back to normal yet because of Covid, especially the social scene but I know a few people still traveling around and having a great time enjoying the nature!! :)
