I'm so pleased I've got a 4.4 tdv8 - i changed my oil last week with a vacuum pump. Easiest oil change I've EVER done. Clean, quick (10-12 mins) and no need to get underneath.
Mine's had the dpf removed so is effectively an Australian spec vehicle. They use 5w40 oil and the difference is amazing - quieter and with noticeably more pull/torque.
Tbh Fayed, as mine's done 132k now, I'll be following the 'cheap and often' principle - use a cheaper oil and change every 6k. I used Triple R oil from Mike Brewers company as they were doing a 20% Bank Holiday discount so only £38 for 10ltrs.
Keep em coming my friend.... 👍

Hi Shane, I've heard that you can use the vacuum pump on the 3.6 V8 as well but I personally prefer removing the plug because I feel that usually the oil settles at the bottom and it's difficult for it to be completely vacuumed from the top. But it sounds like the oil from most modern engines can be sucked from the top, maybe I'll try it one day - but then I wouldn't get the chance to drain the turbo plug, which I'm sure I can't vacuum pump from the top.
Good idea on the cheap and often approach 👍🏻 as long as you have an oil that you're happy with, it's perfect. The 3.6 doesn't come with a DPF either, you know?
As always, thank you so much for all your support Shane, it really means a lot! 👍🏻😊

@@lifeasusual we used Triple R on all the cars when I had my airport transfers business and got at least 300k from every car, so it's a known quantity to me.
Not sure how you'd pump the oil out on yours ? Via the dipstick tube? The 4.4 doesn't have a physical dipstick, only the digital one on the service menu. I've been told by two LR specialists that the vacuum tube goes right to the bottom of the block, which is why (I'm told) it's advisable to change the sump plate every few oil changes. Not been able to get a definitive answer on whether you can safely use a flushing agent in the oil before pumping it out. The vacuum tube is a quite generous diameter (it needs the largest bore pipe with the pump) so any bits would come out unless they were metal - and that would be a whole different 'problem' 🤣
The turbo drain on mine is very different to yours too. Not yet investigated how or if I can do that job.
      Keep em coming matey!

Hi Shane, it's a completely different system on the 3.6 for sure, and to get everything out it's a preferable method to do the drain from underneath, that's what's recommended in the manual. I do actually have an actual dipstick rather than a computer dipstick, which could only be read by the computer. Take care and all the best! 😊

If more people just done this they stop a lot of problems. That old oil looked very clean keep them coming

Hi William, I agree with you, it's a good prevention for other issues that could come up! Thanks for the positive feedback, will do! 👍🏻

100% DO the turbo drain - biggest reason for turbo failure is sludge that builds up here and gets sucked into turbos. Just had my sub frames and underside under-sealed. Looking forward to getting together for comparison at some point after 'massive overspend' lol

Hi Ant, I 100% agree with you on that! For sure, a get-together sounds really great! I would like to join one of those L322 groups where we can arrange a day out/car meet! 👍🏻
