In this recipe you used the chicken wire and it worked well. You could also chop a small piece of a green oak branch to make 2 three inch 1/2" diameter dowels in the field with a pocket knife add a canteen cap full of water then add the the foil pack with the bannock/assorted baked items. The water will keep the dowels from charring,...and professional bakeries use steam in their ovens all the time so,...
One of your best videos yet. However I wish you gave us the dough recipe. Never once did I think of baking in a canteen cup. Fabulous can't wait to try it myself. Bravo my good man and keep up the good work.😊😊😊
Great job.. I made a perforated stainless sheet to fit the bottom of my cup I found if I bake over a fire I can put a couple coals on top and cut the time in half.. It's fun to play with things like that 'eh ?
Yep, I know about galvanized. I dont think it was hot enough for that, and it was not exposed to open flames...however I am going with something different next time
I made some yesterday after watching Tim's video on it. I fried mine but I will definitely try to bake it like that, it looked really good. My wife liked it too.
Well done. The only thing I would change is the hardware cloth. Hardware cloth is galvanized and when you heat it up it starts to vaporize. Trapped inside the canteen cup its likely it will contaminate your food and leave residue inside the cup. You can get stainless steel hardware cloth from places like mc master carr and other online sources. I would urge you to do so for your health.
I think you can buy mini cake tins that will fit in the canteen cup. My mother would call that a poached egg. We had special metal bowls to put into the pot. I now just use a small Pyrex bowl.
@@FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival I have another idea. Use a tapered spam or corn beef tin. Use a can opener rather than the key so you are not left with sharp edge. I intend to try it in the next week or so.
@@FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival I tried the bully beef tin and it works. It fits nicely into the canteen cup. It sits about 1/4 to 1/2 an inch below the lip. The narrow tapering allows a reasonable amount of water to reach the tin. Last night I cooked left over pancake mix by steaming it. Today I steamed some eggs and bully beef. Both worked well but needed better oiling. My next thought is to cut a piece of some of that BBQ hot plate plastic matting and fold it up into the bully beef tin. I haven't been able to find any small cake tins either. They are either too small and would barely fit one egg or they a just a touch too big.
I never steamed an egg before, I'll have to give that a try. I like to cook the biscuit dutch oven style with coals. It seems to cook faster all around and prevents the bottom from scorching. Though yours turned out great!
Always a good idea to put that air space in a ditch oven as well when baking bread. Well done again sir on the video. I really enjoy your videos you make them fun. But man I thought for sure you wouldn’t “Put a Drop”” on the eggs . 😂🤣
@@FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival the first time I made bread in my dutch oven I put the dough right on the bottom of the oven. Man I had hockey pucks for bottoms and sponges on the top of those biscuits. LMAO That air space is the key you are correct. Stay safe out there.
Ive never had bannock. How is it compared to a biscuit. (Tasted wise) . i think id love to see you put a hotdog an a stick and wrap bannock bread around it . like a bannock corndog over an open fire. And maybe have some baked beans with it for a lunch recipe video. Sounds good to me. And of course with some hot sauce
FloridaBoy Survival yes please ! as long as it connects to the other major fuel cans it’s good to go, and I like how many of the arms it’s got compared to the more pricey ones !

Easy, it is just flour and water...I will detail it next time
You excelled yourself this time. I’m gonna do this one. Thanks for the video.
Thanks! It finally worked out perfectly
4 thumbs up!!! Thanks..now I'm hungry..lol. our store had no eggs or much else..dip the bread in the yolk..YUM!!!
Thanks, that is exactly what I did...
thank you for sharing I will try it when I go go camping.
you will not be disappointed
@@FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival Thanks I like my GI mess kit
Yolks and hot sauce look perfect. Your baking is awesome. Great work.
It was really good, thanks!
That really did look awesome! Gotta try that one too.
It was really pretty good...

It is. I will probably use the small SS cups on the interior next time instead of the galvanized wire...
That looks super good!
thanks! It was...
Great video. Be careful with galvanized metal and heat. Doesn't take much fumes to make you sick. Not sure what temps would cause gassing.

ive never cook Bannock before -- you did a good job !!
Thanks! I tried it once before and failed big time lol
Really enjoy your videos. I really want your bread recipe so I can try it. Thanks again 😊
Thanks! It is very easy, I will have to look it up...I think it is just flour and water
You nailed it FB !
Thanks!
Well done

I tried once before but failed miserably. This time it turned out perfect, pretty easy too...
Looked good enough to eat, Matt.. I thought for a minute you had forgotten the TP......... Texas Pete. Thank you for sharing your breakfast with us.
thanks! Never forget the hot sauce

A good breakfast
I was really good, very filling too
Great job!!!

Nice.. I make bannock all the time. I put 1/4 of powdered milk in mine.
I like cooking mine over the fire though.
Thanks for the video

The air space made all the difference. I used the hot sauce just for you lol

Hope you and family are OK. Don't eat a lot of bannock dry or you will be not a happy camper. Good video on easy breakfast.
We are OK. Yep, thats why I added the eggs to it lol
Corn syrup, or Strawberry jam with that bannock. 😋😋
Next time. I wasn't even sure that it would work this time lol
Two things: try nonstick, make a small foil strap to help remove the dish. This is cool.
thanks. i coated the inside with oil before the bread went in...
That was a good problem solver.
Thanks!
Great video, good thing I ate lunch before watching...
Thanks! It made a lot
Have you tried self rising flour instead of all purpose and baking soda?
No just the regular flour...
Man I'm gonna make that!

It is pretty comparable to a biscuit only a little heavier. I may try the hot dog thing...
Good vid
Thanks!
new sub...found you from the "O"

Where did you get the $9 stove?? From a store or from a person?
I got it on Amazon. I can send you a link if you want. I think it is $12 now...
