Blackie great video, Several years ago I practice cooking with my canteen cup. I was able to perfect several easy recipes from rice dishes to soups and baking recipes. It just takes practice and taking the correct measurement of the food and water, and fire. All my practice paid of at home when I took my 1st survival course I was set.

thats the secret..i practiced at home for my lunch until i got the amounts correct..then i knew how much to prepackage at home for the journeys

That's a great idea. Thanks for showing it to us. I've seen that McCormick's spaghetti sauce in the store before, but never thought about using it on the trail. I guess we can learn new things all the time if people point them out. Thanks, again.

I drain most of the water off my pasta & use a packet of tomato cuppa soup. The dry cuppa soups reduce the risk of having a "wet" sauce mix rupture.

Although canteen cup cooking works great this guy (wonder what his name is ;) made a video some time back on Swedish cook stoves. This guy (name is on the tip of my tongue ;) gave a thorough demonstration on this stove. Well I bought one. Got a nice surplus in great condition and have had great meals ever since. Well maybe Blackie knows this semi famous RUclips woodsman. I am spoiled my friend. Thanks again for all the work you do on these videos.

lol i hear ya..if just me..a canteen cup is enough..the swedish is my next step up for bigger meals..next up pathfinder pot..then up into my dutch ovens...layers upon layers

Nice!! How about a series on tin can cook sets and cooking ? some people don't want to dip into a tight family budget for hobbie stuff. Or cub &boy scouton tight budgets and kids with little money!! May be some home made gear.?? This down and dirty series is good 👍

I have seen those sauce mixes but never used them. I guess I thought you added them to tomato sauce. I wonder if one of those packets could be used in the chili mix instead of bringing a can of tomato paste.

When I see you priming the Pathfinder stove and it's the end of March it makes me think that it must be really sluggish to bloom in anything like cold weather. Is this the case? All the best.

There was a( i thought it was Jack Link's)maker of beef jerky and other meat products that use to make an 11oz package of precooked ground beef that would work well if you preferred a meat sauce on your spaghetti but i have not seen it in stores lately

Mix the sauce with the water, put your noodles in it and then boil it, that adds flavor to your noodles. Add or pour off water as needed. Then eat it out of the canteen. Your welcome

    • @tracker5849

A nalgene bottle full of wine works well..add some fruit..apple..orange..cinnamon stick etc and you can boil up mulled wine right in camp...saw ERIC OFF TRACK..in Australia on you tube do that.....HAPPY TRAILS!

Not very nutritious but filling if you are going for high carbs. ☺ Canteen cups are OK - I used them in the army, BUT, there are several other cooking sets that work better in my humble opinion. Just saying.... ☺
