John, forgive me if it's mentioned in the video, but who installed the b bender in the LP standard and what does the back of the guitar look like? This looks pretty sleek. I have 5 b bender teles and have been dying to get one in my LP standard. Thanks
Well done John! Great story telling of it's beginning! I learned about B benders a few years ago from Brent Mason. Thanks for sharing brother and Be Well All!
Jimmy Page also used a Tele fitted with a b-bender to great effect during his time with The Firm. Jimmy also went on the play a modified Les Paul which was fitted with a b-bender.
@ Chris Horton ... Yes, that is the Les Paul that I am thinking of. He is also holding that guitar in photographs that appear on Jimmy's 'Outrider' solo album and he also seems to have played it on the 'Coverdale/Page' album. It seem to be a gold top that has been over-sprayed red; some have even speculated that it is a Deluxe that had the mini-humbuckers replaced with full-sized pickups at a later stage. It is certainly a cool and interesting guitar !
Very cool! I chuckled a bit at 3:40. Just picturing a musician all hooked up dancing around like they have ants in their pants but, they just B-Bendin'. Great playing as always.
In the hands of someone like Marty Stewart, Brad Paisley and John, it sounds amazing, very pedal steely, which I think is the point. It's fun to hear John explain it and demonstrate, the enthusiasm is catchy with these things.
it would be cool to experiment with a b bender plus volume swells, like a pedal steel, and also with a ton of reverb and delay from some modern ambient pedals
John, have you ever seen a Mackenzie String Puller? Three floor pedals, three string to bend. Arlen Roth had/has one on a Tele, there are pictures of it on the web. I think you would tear it up with one of them. Like you do with these, times three.
There's not much routing on the first bender. The mechanism is mounted on the back and there's an extra body cut out and screwed to the back. The plunger that Marty added is for the high E. It's also my profile picture.
Not only did John give some great info on the different types of b-benders and their applications and such he have a cool useful secret tip. Putting your slide in your back pocket! Never thought of that before, don’t know why I didn’t before. I’ve just always put it on top of my amp after doing some slide stuff but back pocket seems more convenient and quick! Awesome video and playing John!
Nice video. I own and use a Fender Nashville B-Bender, but I'd like to get hold of a Washburn Forrest Lee acoustic B Bender and it seems impossible to find one available for sale, certainly in Canada at least. If anyone out there has one they would like to sell, I'd love to hear from you!
Joe Glaser installed a B Bender in Pages Les Paul???? I'm pretty sure it was Gene Parsons that did Jimmys #3 Paul after he did his Telecaster instillation.
My guess is the note interval, the bend takes b to clean c im guessing they tried with all and found this the most pleasing sonically after trial an errors
@@MichaelEdelman1954 I see Marty Stuart used the B bender more and Brad Paisley uses the G, I know some can make the sus chords sound amazing but I am not that talented, thank you Michael you have sent me on a journey I going to listen more to both to see if my ears can get better at learning how to spot it, honestly I have to learn more about suspended chords i think it'll fun plus listening to Marty and Brad is always good training
I sat around one day doing this E maj thing with open strings. Kept accidently hitting the open G string. Sounded awful. So I tuned it up to G#. Played it like that. Sat and played with that "new tuning" for hours. You come up with all kinds of stuff. Very cool! Naturally I thought of tuning the G string down a half step and sat with that "new tuning" for hours. Also very cool. You end up doing stuff you CANT do with the normal E A D G B E tuning. The next thing I want to try is sticking a capo on somewhere with both of the "new tunings" and doing some recording. Pan the Gb thing left and the G# thing right. Aint got round to it yet though. It will obviously work if you just stay in key! I highly recommend trying both of these tunings. Just dont expect to play along with your favorite albums much! Its a whole new guitar with this.
Stay safe john for God sake do not play guitar anymore. Do only interview with 1,8 mt of minimum distance from the guest and from his guitar. That is your task and your job too. Do not forget it!!!

I had a Tele with a palm bender on it. Never used it. Sold it to a friend for $30 and then saw him using it on TV a few months later. lol.
This is a pretty awesome collection of B-benders. Would love an episode on multi benders, hip benders, palm benders etc
Well done John! Great story telling of it's beginning! I learned about B benders a few years ago from Brent Mason. Thanks for sharing brother and Be Well All!
John Bohlinger
With a B-Bender
Lookin like David Byrne
Bitchin’ 👍🏻
Great intonation on that tele up high, wow
Awesome John thanks!
Nice presentation John ! Love B-Benders. You can't hang around Shane too long or he'll stripe everything you've got !
Love the Howard Finster type piece behind you!
Jimmy Page also used a Tele fitted with a b-bender to great effect during his time with The Firm. Jimmy also went on the play a modified Les Paul which was fitted with a b-bender.
His #3 Red Les Paul is fitted with the B-bender

What a wonderful Rube Goldberg machine! Fabulous!
totally
Killer demo and playing John. I always enjoy your videos. Your knowledge and chops are inspiring.

Bernie Leadon and Albert Lee used Dave Evans Pull Strings. Same idea, different hardware. Thanks for post John!

The B bender is one of those things where I kinda want one, but not enough to actually pull the trigger.
Same here. I question whether I’d have the skill ever to make it sound cool
Everytime I hear one, I want one more.
John - I think you’re holding out... how many more benders are there in that collection?
These videos are great, John, you've got some gear man.🎸
Holy guitar swap Batman. How many guitars does JB have below the video frame. So cool...🎸👍🎶🎵🎼😃
Holy shit that les Paul sounds great
It'd be cool if Premier Guitar included a Marty Stuart/Clarence White lesson.
Damn, as always, awesome playing!! Love the stories👍
You’re a natural!!

in a live situation, yess
very cool PRS Never Seen one like it
Cool demo, probably sound even better soaked in reverb!
These sound amazing
Glenn Tillbrook of Squeeze has used a B-Bender Tele forever, and he's nearly as masterful with it as Marty or Jimmy.
A rig rundown on Marty Stuart, Kenny Vaughn, and Chris Scruggs would be awesome
Time to get back on the road Amigo. The plunger drops a whole step
Best posture in rock and roll
I checked out Marty Stuart and saw the video about the guitar and the history. Interesting :)

Awesome
Huh huh huh, Bohlinger's cool.

The Honeydrippers Sea of Love has a beautiful B bender solo by Jimmy Page.
Oh my God, yes! One of my favorites!
Another great presentation . . . great musicianship with those blacksmith's hands . . . LOL . Cheers.
Would forest still do a les Paul bender you think ?
Vanilla ice is back..sounds good john
good one!
I believe there was one earlier than Parson with a cable to the guitar going to a foot pedal in the 50's FACT CHECK IT!
Here's an interview with Gene Parson's who describes it. He never went with the foot pedals. ruclips.net/video/zxQhbvke44I/видео.html&feature=emb_logo
Can you get Forest on the show? He is perhaps one of the greatest luthier/players going around. And yes you have far too many B benders 😆
I know a FEW benders! ;oP
Ron Wood uses a b-bender also: ruclips.net/video/6Nd_l6kbxhU/видео.html
Wow, are all these your guitars?
yup
Miss Floyd?
P.S. The picture of John's daughter is adorable in the background, and she definitely looks like John.
Thank you. She is too cute.
I’ve always thought this guy was awesome
John you have Elvis hair , cool video , take care
Why the B string though? I’ve always wondered why the B string versus any other string. Eat tool though and cool sound.
My guess is the note interval, the bend takes b to clean c im guessing they tried with all and found this the most pleasing sonically after trial an errors
David Morales Makes sense. In G, that would give you a suspended chord.

ISO CUB!
Did not mention a great bender player Mark Reckard.
They sound cool in the other guitars but it’s just the Nashville tele sound!
That top hat will cause a house fire and burn your precious gear. Get it off the lamp to be safe
Well I guess that's one way to weight relieve a Les Paul. Lol
To me it was barely noticeable in the les paul.
Ray Just as noticeable as the other guitars.
Amigoooooo
Were They High..

Far too much reverb to do a demo!
Sounds like someone's strangling a cat.
When you play?
