Thanks for doing a great job on my recent key repair! Mark Wagner
Ai will never take over, men like this will be the guardians of our future
I know nothing about your field but I admire your knowledges and technical skill just by watching you fixing such fine electrical stuffs that shows you are a very talented and very patient man I like to see your skills at work ❤
I am going to impart knowledge as an automotive locksmith that most people do not know. The battery is for the buttons. The transponder which communicates with the cars onboard immo doesn't need the battery or buttons. The fobs have 2 separate functions. You can start the car without the fob battery if it's push to start. Instead of pushing the button with your finger you can use the fob to push the button in most cars not all. Some require the fob to be placed in another part of the car where the antenna is. In this car that fob is called a Fobik which is a little different than a push to start. Mercedes switched over to push to start a while ago. Most of the cars that still use these are old clunkers.
This is true... found this out after the fob for my sister's 2020 Toyota was dead af but it would start if you held the fob up against the push to start
Good fix. Really shows your skill on that job.
I'm convinced that these Benz keyfobs have microscopic explosives planted in them. They're easily the most common repair you do on this channel
Nice theory but you could see the damage was created by gorilla-hands.
In other words, whomever opened that fob pried so hard and with so much force you could see the damage start-point at the edge of the board then continuing across the 7 traces and then right into the corner of the chip.
Hence "gorilla-hands"!
Nah, it's gotta be theose melted connectors on Nvidia cards that's most common surely. Those, or Asus laptops....
Keep these daily videos coming 👌 ( Better than Factory )
You are so much fun to watch! Thanks for sharing knowledge.
Another great vid... and i hope that you are going to continue with the classes that you have been holding
Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Hi Alex, I've been watching your videos for years now. I'm curious if you plan on starting 4k videos? It would be a great upgrade for entertainment and knowledge consumers such as myself.
Am Joseph from Kenya am learning like a robot machine great work, l repair now electronics from my little knowledge from inherently from you Alex
I now repair electronics.............
Good job mate 👏
I know what you mean.
I once found my cat inside my keyfob.
Might have been easier to solder to the bent pin before ripping it from the NEC chip. But then again, maybe it was shorting something other stuff in there, so, better yet that you broke it :D
But your soldering skills are amazing. I mean, soldering to a copper trace inside broken the chip itself... That is amazing. And a clean solution, too.
Good job
He saved a lot of money.
The panic button is very useful especially in multilevel city parking garage. 🚗
Back in the 80s I repaired a 68000 CPU with pin 1 snapped off by cracking the corner off the package, putting it into a socket, and then wiring from guts of chip to the socket.
keyforb for a 20 year old accord costs 540 euro, i can't even imagine what they go for in a merc dealer.. def worth a try.
And the FOB isn't what starts the vehicle, there is a separate chip near the key that actually starts it.
Nice job 👏
"nice, the pin is broken" that made me laugh.
I like your small2 work. Keep it up
Able to get on the podium 😂 2 place comment.
Always better than factory 👌
wild man fix! 😆
You have to wonder how they caused that damage. The ceramic chip housing is very tough.
prolly tryin to replace battery, and used something sharp. Done that.
I thought with a chunk like that missing on the chip, transistors would be missing too. Maybe they are concentrated in the middle of the chip
These chips are relatively big so the actual silicon chip is usually a small square in the middle and most of the space is bonding wires. Google "decapped chip" to see what they're like inside.
You can see the scratches coming from the side, into the chip. Someone broke it, probably while trying to pry the key open.
Awesome ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻
"what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger" 🤣
What flux do you use? Asking from Uganda.
Love it!!!
Is that a problem to program new fob for car in USA?
Expensive. Car dealers…
The fob itself cannot be reprogrammed. It is a ROM mask chip, there isn't any flash memory inside the NEC chip.
You would need another chip that contains the custom made firmware, probably only made for MB by the fobkey manufacturer. You will not find that chip to buy freely on the market.
$$$
The materials and labor to manufacture and program a fob are cheap. The dealer marks it up by 50x. So $10 worth of parts and labor will cost you near $500. This is the sad state of the modern car industry.
Not really what panic button is meant for, but can be used that way.. Anywho.
Alex you always said visual Inspection, when described a issue keep it simple Customer did well
Nice
ماشاء الله تبارك الله خالص تحياتي 🌹
Genius
👌👌👍👍
Customer induced damage.
Clutz almost cost himself a new keyfob from dealer.
أهلاً سيدي
هل أنت من أصل عربي؟
Short video but still went on the bench 😅
was greanot bad.
That was a dentist job.
Better than factory!
10..
Selamün aleyküm.
Maybe car was stolen?😂
Kind of a noob job. I would copy the data from one chip to a new chip and resolder the new one. I thought you were proud of your jobs.
cost to do that would not be worth it, may as well just get a new one from the dealer.
It’s a good idea to do some research before leaving comments like this. This isn’t an EFI chip, and you can’t copy NEC chips-I’ve tried multiple times in the past, and no programmer can read it. To program another fob, the vehicle must be present and requires specialized tools.
@@NorthridgeFix Sorry brother, I didn’t know, my bad. I just assumed you always do an excellent job, and this time you didn’t replace it. I just commented on what I saw. I leave the research to you :), maybe now its possible. BTW, I love your videos!
Yea car manufacturers already thought of this bro lol
Where is the song?! 😢
Love from Pakistan.
