@aarondcmedia9585 New to this channel? Only 9 years so yes I guess I'm new to this channel 😂😂 the last few videos ago, Thomas was showing the edited first, and raw after. He has switched this time which is more in a logical order and the flicks. So he didn't really do that before.
When you have your conversation with Gavin and I realized that you had him looking all saturated and bright in his sunny day and you looking all desaturated in dark in your heavy weather, I about fell out of my chair laughing. Cleverly done, sir!
My friend and I visited the stack earlier this year on a wet windy day...not as windy as your day. I found the spongey mounds really hard to walk on...I'm getting a knee replacement before Christmas. I felt very unsteady and ended up lying on my belly taking a few shots?..you were braver. Love the way you are showing the raw file then the processed one. Great videos.
Thanks for sharing, and for your dedication to still presenting the 617 club whilst out in the field. Loved the sea stack image, the choice of shutter speed and subtle editing was spot on. The banter with Gavin was a hoot. I’m Intrigued to know about the longer exposure, you mentioned 30 seconds. I’ve previously tried blending a fast with a long exposure but found it difficult due to the blur caused by elements in the frame moving within the long exposure.
I love the bit in the beginning. Glad you’re taking the comment from the last video light-hearted… part of this channel is also everything around going out to take photos. I come to enjoy this way more than just photography.
Hi Thomas - enjoying your feed. A suggestion on your light, wiggly tripod in the wind: place a hook at the end of your center column of the tripod, and you can easily hang your heavy camera bag (or carry an empty bag you can put local rocks/sand in), and that will make a huge difference. If your can't find a native hook that fits your center column (check after market or your tripod manufacturer), you can rig yourself a carabiner that attaches to one or more of your legs (at the top) and is similar in results. Hope this helps.
You and Gavi Hardcastle are just not to beat.... "My Hasselblad ist green...." Great video again and amazing shots despite the terrible weather - thanks for sharing
That Hassleblad colour science is just something else. I got to hold one once for about a minute and take a few photos, was the poshest I've ever felt in my life haha :). Nice to see Gavin popping up in the video too.
Very Nice Again ! Thank You for the details and for the two versions of Raw and Edited. I think I registered in one of your previous video that you don't enjoy making videos on photo editing, but if you could, for this one and the previous one with the sky alterations, it would be fantastic and surely make Gavin, once again, very jealous of your skills.
Many have already said it, but the flicking between RAW and edit at the end was really interesting to see! Also, the gavin bit was hilarious, thanks for the laugh

What a wonderful shot, all you had to go through to brave the elements to get it full empathy. The bit with Gavin Hardcastle made me giggle. My Siwash sea stack painting is Western Canada and now he is in Eastern Canada. lol :)
That sea stack was beautiful with all of the tonal separations in the rock. But what I really liked about this video was the way you socked it to Gavin.... twice! His appearance in the video really added a bit of good natured comedy. Last but not least, I can empathize with you on the weather. We are on the tag end of Hurricane Helene here and it been raining steadily since Friday night and is still blowing a misty rain today. The sun brightened up a couple of times but not enough to make a shadow. But in this case I am very thankful to get the rain. We were in the midst of a severe drought and needed every bit of moisture we could get here in Middle Tennessee. Unfortunately it has caused sever flooding in the eastern part of the state.
Green/Tundra brown shout of disbelief will live rent-free in my head from now on along with a tinge of envy of that green/tundra brown piece of art camera :-)
Hahaha, hilarious, that part with gavin. Guess the battle is still continuing 😅 amazing shot and I love how you shown the raw file difference. Grt guido
Another good outing despite weather.. Perfect tag on fototripper for missing out special edition camera.. will be looking forward to more Hasselblad content.
Incredible storying telling and visuals, im not landscape photographer but man seeing these images and stories coming from them makes me want to try and step outside from my wildlife into your world. that camera is bananas
My first experience with this sea stack was from the cover of my favorite banjo CD, Solid Ground by Shane Mulchrone. I just about convinced myself, and my wife, to drive 3 hours round trip to photograph it myself. It is stunning. Good luck on your trip, which has most likely already completed. Bantry House, near the bottom of the country, is also great for photos.
A pleasant surprise seeing the notification pop up. Glad to see the electrical issues was resolved quickly and definitely a good decision getting out Tom to capture that lovely image
If you recall the old film camera zooms, the DoF scale was a graphic that went the full length of the zoomed in lens body covering each point of the zoom. And they actually extended quite a lot. These lenses don't extend sufficiently to provide that.
Great video, you and Gavin crack me up, OMG imagine having just a plain black Hasselblad X2D and not the Earth Explorer Limited Edition, how could anyone be able to continue photographing stuff 😂👍
I spent a week or so Sep '23 in Clare also doing the Wild Atlantic Way. Weather hasn't changed then. Ended up with about 8/9 photos I was happy with, but that took way too much effort and and asked just about everything out of my tripod. liberally weighted down with the camera bag and occasionally me leaning down on the tripod. Going in Summer next year. I've started praying for sun already.
Re: Electrical problem, when you get issue like that it is usually either a fuse or a bad earth, if the power cannot go the route it's meant to it will find a "sneak path" this means the power will take the path of least resistance to get to get to ground (vehicle body or battery earth) and can make all sorts of weird things happen.
Interesting. I have the same gazelle legs. Mine are spikes or pads I just need to screw the pads in to reveal the spikes or out to hide them in the rubber pads.
Great video. If on the edge of a cliff again in strong winds, suggest you flatten the tripod to the floor, which will make far more stable and attract less wind. I hope that's helpful! Then put your heavy coat and boots on it to make rock solid... then self timer, mirror up... ain't getting no blur then!
Absolutely wonderful video and image of Downpatrick head! I love it there! That is indeed one fine camera and would make anyone jealous, regardless of the colour 😅
I just got home after shooting in the rain and watched your video. I have a similar problem getting out of bed. Most times it is my bladder that forces me out of the sack. I enjoyed the video and as always great images. Oh, I had a hardy laugh with your bit featuring Garvin Hardcattle.
Just the one photo this time, but at least it was a great one! I loved the before and after images showing how much a little editing can elevate a photo.
For half second stabilisation on on windy weather.... I often put the tripod low as possible...I use tent peg with a piece of string and this keeps the tripod steady ....bags on hooks font work
Everyone is having major electrical problems with vehicles in Ireland 😄 look how many cars have one light beam! lol. Welcome to Ireland Thomas and enjoy the (wet) show!
i made a complete 10 day roundtrip in Ireleand in 2018 from Dublin south to Northern Ireland and back to Dublin. mostly on coast and Wild Atlantic way. it was awesome. got cool photos
I'm right behind you. I'm headed out from the states to Ireland for a month in mid-October to shoot along the entire coast, and I'm guessing it will be the same only considerably colder.
Great Job Thomas, Downpatrick head in the wind can be quite a scary place, although the cliffs are 200 ft high not 500 ft Symantec’s 😂. But the wind and the swell make for the excellent photo you took. Hopefully the you got some breaks from the persistent wind and rain.
Oh you totally missed some stunning nature just to the right of downpatrick head. When we went there last year autum the whole cliffside to the right was covered in "bubbly" grass mounts. They felt so eerie and made for some mesmerising photos. If you ever go back here definitely check those out!
You should do a video about photographing northern lights with the Hasselblad 501, and thank you for more content and remember we watch you content because we enjoy you
Nice one Tom!! 😆😆🤣Obviously, he's "Green" with Envy. What can we say!! Does Gavin need to up his game, I ask myself!? To be honest though, there is absolutely no way at all I could enter this realm of camera ownership, I can't even afford a new carpet for my harem!!😊
Absolutely love the order you did it in at the end, raw file first, then edited version, then flicking between the two. That was grand.
Glad you liked it. It shows the edit nicely 👍
You must be new to youtube photograpers
@@mrsusan893 you must be new to this channel.
Ansell Adams would approve!!

Green!!! Tundra brow...GREEN!!!!
Don’t worry, Gavin. Tundra Brown is Swedish for Baby Poo. Black is king.
Gavin, it’s always a joy to see you with that humor. Wish to see you more often with Adam Gibbs and Thomas Heaton. Wish you the best !
When you have your conversation with Gavin and I realized that you had him looking all saturated and bright in his sunny day and you looking all desaturated in dark in your heavy weather, I about fell out of my chair laughing. Cleverly done, sir!
Very nice video as always. Also LOVE IT the funny part with Gavin 😂❤
Yeah me too! 🤣

The "Green?!" echo got me laughing haha. Was a good one!
Lol, glad you enjoyed it.
Amazing nice to see the raw file then the edited file
Haha! That was a funny one! It would be fun to do something together and see if your bad weather karma is stronger than my good weather karma 😅
Agreed! It would be awesome to see you guys do something again.
Great video!!! Your sparring with Gavin is funny and priceless!!!
10:32 Fabulous image, love the clouds above the horizon, thanks for sharing

Really enjoyed this. The bits with Gavin funny as ever and appreciated. : )

The sea stack image was very beautiful - excellent choice of shutter speed.
Very funny ending! Love the image too. Proof that weather is one quality of photographic opportunity to embrace.
Love your recent videos. A couple of us gather round when we know a video is out. Before and afters - Superb.
Good to see you two are linking up again!! Always fun
I can't believe I predicted that Gavin would be green with envy. Haha. Fingers crossed for better weather to come your way Thomas.
He's actually tundra brown with envy I guess 😀
Another good outing despite weather.. Perfect tag on fototripper for missing out special edition camera.. will be looking forward to more Hasselblad content.
More Gavin. Always need more Gavin.

Oh the shenanigans with Gavin never get old! 😂
Hi Thomas! Thank's for one more lesson! I always learn a lot from you. And thank's also for the hilarious moment! Have a nice sunday.
Oh my goodness, you guys make my day! I would love it if you all would do this more with each other! SO FUNNY!
Enjoyed the video as usual.
Certainly extreme weather like we had here in Devon.
Great shot of the Sea Stack.
Look forward to the next one.
Poor Gavin 😂🤣. I love the recent addition of RAW file first, Edited second. It gives me hope 👍🏻
Didn’t think I’d ever feel second class owning a black X2D. Thanks, Tom…
A pleasant surprise seeing the notification pop up. Glad to see the electrical issues was resolved quickly and definitely a good decision getting out Tom to capture that lovely image
@4:22 !!!! I almost spit out my coffee. You guys
Excellent video. I like what you did at the end there with the phone call lol.
Your videos are certainly getting better. Chears
Amazing as always and the ever-amusing Gavin was a great cameo
Did an Ireland bike tour last year and Downpatricks Head was my favorite. The force of these waves was insane. Especially at the caves nearby.
Love Gavin and Tom's skit. Landscape envy.
Love the comic relief at the end!
"bad" weather, are the best photo weather, Thomas. You know that! 😲😁
Didn't expect the funny part at the end, but i quite liked it!

Another great video Tom. Stunning shot. Loved the ending as well, very funny 😂 👍🏻 keep up the great work 👍🏻
Thanks Thomas! Was there last September, an awesome place and it is sooo windy!
That seastack image is great - thanks for taking us on your trip
Nice, Great shot of the sea stack. And nice convo with Gavin.
Absolutely wonderful video and image of Downpatrick head! I love it there!
That is indeed one fine camera and would make anyone jealous, regardless of the colour 😅
Epic ending with Gavin.

Love a wee cameo from Gav 😂❤
Nice shot, worth getting out of bed for👍🏻 Always good to get one up on Gavin
I wouldn’t care which color the camera was😂
In the wind you could lower the angle of the legs to get a winder base. it would help mitigate some of the wind wobble.
The colours in the image went so well together, loved it
Good to see Gavin again! Tundra brown!
Just the one photo this time, but at least it was a great one! I loved the before and after images showing how much a little editing can elevate a photo.
Ending is satisfying seeing Gavin’s face 😂
Lol you two are always funny together with those skits.
Cracking shot Thomas, worth the trip out eh! As my 12 year old son would say "you roasted" gavin on your hassleblad camera comparison
Great photo in very challenging conditions. As for Gavin.... Gerrim Telt.
Thanks for making the sponsored part fun to watch!
For half second stabilisation on on windy weather....
I often put the tripod low as possible...I use tent peg with a piece of string and this keeps the tripod steady ....bags on hooks font work
Bad weather makes great photos
Everyone is having major electrical problems with vehicles in Ireland 😄 look how many cars have one light beam! lol. Welcome to Ireland Thomas and enjoy the (wet) show!
Do you need more than one light beam in a country where the roads barely have more than one lane?
@@peterebel7899 you do! so in complete darkness incoming vehicles or pedestrians don't think you are much narrower than you actually are 👍
Good to see the banter is still there 😂
Oh: One shot, two skies?
Magic!
That is one heck of a sea stack! Dun Briste. I shall have to Google that at some point.
The swell is great! Use. Short shutter speed & maximize the storm!
Love the 'Skit' at the end lol
i made a complete 10 day roundtrip in Ireleand in 2018 from Dublin south to Northern Ireland and back to Dublin. mostly on coast and Wild Atlantic way. it was awesome. got cool photos
We were all given a bonus in the form of an unscheduled Sunday edition from Thomas.
lovely photos, lol you and gavin
Gavin shade, lol! Always fun when you two collab. Missing seeing that Nikon. :P
Lol. It's only been a week. Don't worry, the Nikon is going nowhere.

Amazing location and cool photograph
Welcome to Ireland Thomas
Am off to Ireland next week. I hope you used up all the really bad weather… Love the videos.
Epic photo Thomas!
