      Actually no because I did practice Aikido for 5 years in addition to my Karate skills and for some reason I was kind of disappointed back then of Aikido because in my opinion the Aikido technques seemed to be so unrealtistic and useless for a real fight! That is exactly why I thought that you would easily defeat your Aikido guy but for some reason you didn´t. Nevertheless I am still sceptical about the effectiveness of Aikido. Anyway I still like Karate more than Aikido :).

    He hit the nail in the head - principles - that's all that matters. I don't have any experience with dayto-ryu, but I do have 13 years of experience with Takemusu Aikido, and I find a lot of similar concepts. Very good.

  • @Docinaplane

    Good! Learn to move forward 45 degrees out to avoid the strike then 45 degrees in with the attack of your choice. The initial movement direction (right or left) depends on what kick is coming and which side and leg it's coming from. Front - round - or spinning (back or heel).

  • @musigk75
    @musigk75 3 года назад

    Nice move to deflect an Mae-Geri. I trained Aikido before, so e.g. the Sankaku-tobi in Meikyo always reminded me of this kind of tai-sabaki movement to get behind the partner.

    i must say waku i dont do martial arts but have been in a lot of street fights and i tend to use a mix of karate and aikido throws and you need to compact your leg/your knee area as you are smaller than the dude you are sparring with harder to the back of your sparring partners leg/knee thats where the off balancing of the opponent first also you are throwing him over your right hip using your right arm the instructor blocked moved in left leg to back of opponent's left standing leg (the right opponents legs was blocked) then he uses his left arm to spin and throw you/opponent ive done this alot and know how natural it feels when done right and like he said it is being rude and aggressive but calm and in control of the fight many thanks for your work and much respect to you all

    we used a similar tech for defense against a front kick. We would cut down with the front hand like a sword creating sliding surface for the kick to continue up.

    More one excellent video.
    As a aikido yudansha I think it's not effective. It's too difficult.
    As I said in the other video
    Maai
    Timing
    Footwork
    Uke back
    Spin and
    Throw
    Fast
    A lot to learn.
    In the aikido defense you go to the catch the uke's center, hara.
    Nice collab.
    Thanks a lot for the respect.
    Best regards.

    That is front kick shoot from long distance. It is easy to see and evade. Short distance front kick is hard to block and evade. And usually it is preceded by a fake move.

    The idea kinda works, since I've seen Muay Thai/kickboxing fighters use it (mmashraded for example) but it's that thing that aikido has of never putting it in to action (that creates fantasy moves) that really bother me.

      Aikido is a watered down and the worse version of Aiki-Jujutsu.

    • @asherasator
      @asherasator Год назад

      From the glossary descriptions of the book Aikido And The Dynamic Sphere, page 365: The second word is Aikido 'A modern discipline of harmony between opposites on a universal scale'.
      The third word is Aikijutsu [Aikijujutsu] 'An ancient technique of combat based upon the principle of coordination between attack and defense'. They are two sides of the same coin, and interwoven layers of each other, and it depends to what level 'One' wants to go, and how to go about it. Aikido is "The Way" at a deep level. Aikijutsu [Aikijujutsu] is "The Technique" (Of Devastation). Both absolutely exemplify ultra physics and the mindset of what Sun Tzu established in the Art Of War.

    your steps too far and your stance too wide,sensei.
    the aikido sensei only use and maintain normal standing stance in his every moves. that's why his moves very fast and can put himself in good position.

    Why there is no aikido in MMA?

    • @MarioSeoane
      @MarioSeoane 3 года назад +1

      Mostly for moral and philosophical reasons. The majority of people involved in Aikido are educated and calm people attracted by the harmonious and cultural parts of the art. In practical terms, it also takes a while to learn it properly to be effective, and a huge majority never goes that far. The few people from Aikido who go for MMA, usually don't have the stamina and kill instinct required to "destroy" their opponents with punches and locks, like the RUclipsr Rockas, who practiced soft Aikido forever, just to discover he was unable to do anything against an MMA fighter and then he dedicated years of videos against Aikido, as a sort of Catharsis and then he went full MMA, just to show us how he also sucks in MMA. To have any chance in MMA as an Aikidoist, you have to use a lot of strikes, punches, cuts and kicks, to later trying to apply any sort of technique, like the Crazy one-arm Aikidoist of this videos. Take a look.

      I respect Aikido and I think it's a beautiful art, but it's totally useless in a competitive fight scenario.
      If trained properly, it could fine for self-defense (someone grabs you, try to take you down, throwing a heavy and slow punch at you). But against an experienced boxer/kickboxer, it just wouldn't work.
      It could be added to the skillset of an MMA fighter, but Aikido alone wouldn't work.
      Aikido techniques can blend nicely with a good striking base.

    • @DerSuchtGamer
      @DerSuchtGamer 3 года назад +1

      Against an experienced figher every martial artist could get in trouble. Doesn't matter what die martial art is called.
      We should not forget that the most martial arts are invented for self defense. A close combat situation where you have to react as fast as possible to take your opponent down in one or two moves. MMA has nothing to do with that.
      And because aikido is based 99% on counter your opponent, it makes no sense to use it in a competitive sport.

    • @jean4j_
      @jean4j_ 3 года назад

      @@DerSuchtGamer people tend to fail to understand that self defense and a lot of traditional martial arts teach you to defend yourself against a random attacker.
      It's traditionally not that competitive, especially Aikido lol
