Great flight. This plane Penetrates forever.! When I go to land it, I do circles until some of the speed is bled off. Then I bring it down for a clean landing.

Cool vid, thanks. I was getting 30+ minute flight times before I planted mine like a fence post. I just got a new one today.

Careful, it is notorious for not pulling out of dives, especially under power. Landing is exciting, because it doesnt want to come down. I advise programming the wing as Flaperon so you can slow it without stalling it to land. As you can see, this plane will put a smile on your face. It is a very pure flying experience.

That's true, I've had some close calls trying to pull out of a dive with it.

I can easily land this plane, put it on safe mode.

I increased elevator travel by manually moving the elevator end of the control rod. That helped a lot.

Try it on a 1300 3S for soaring. Set up rudder/elevator mix to ailerons and use SAFE for thermal hunting. I can get up to 30-45 minutes on the smaller battery. Let the autopilot coordinate the turns for you to reduce drag and reduce sink rate. Mine has an altimeter and GPS.
I fly mine on 4S too, but not often. At 76 years old my reaction times are not as good as they were 30 years ago!

What ratio did you use for the mix, for rudder/Elevator to Aileron?

    • @GoofballFlyer
      @GoofballFlyer 8 месяцев назад

@@simonbryant3828 I assigned the AIL > RUD mix to the same switch as the Safe on/off switch. On Safe the ratios are both 70%. On AS3X and no gyros I left them at 0%. That mix really messed up rolls. You need those high settings for Safe because Safe limits rudder travel so much.

@@GoofballFlyer Thanks, i was going to have a seperate switch and have maybe a 50% rudder/aileron mix - not sure about eleavtor though?

This gets a bit complicated but let me try to explain what I am trying to do with this Safe mix. In Safe I look for thermals and max flight duration on a warm day. My best is a little over an hour and I had 25% battery remaining. I use switch change audio and when I switch to Safe the transmitter announces Thermal Mode and the rudder mix kicks in. You do not need an elevator mix for that. Safe does a very good job working the elevators to maintain a good/safe speed if you set up the initial elevator trim correctly. You can just use the ailerons and get nice, aerodynamically efficient, turns with minimal slip or skid.
I also use Safe for launch and landing sailplanes. Those wingtips are very close to the ground, making a ground loop likely on a gusty day. My 3 meter Fox has a special Safe/Flaps/Elevator launch mix. All I need to do is go full throttle and then a gentle toss. Hands off it accelerates and climbs out at a safe speed and climb rate. Otherwise I want a buddy to launch it.
When I want to just play around with aerobatics I have no mixes. My experience is that at my level you do not need them. You do need to understand the inputs for the maneuvers you want to fly. For example, if you want to do a nice roll with no altitude loss you need to put in, then release, some down elevator as the airplane rolls inverted. I learned that flying full scale with an instructor. It really helps to see and feel the control force effects from inside the cockpit as you turn, loop, and roll a Citabria.
"Gyros Off" is there in case something goes wrong with the receiver. I use it mainly on a maiden until I turn on AS3X then Safe at a safe altitude to make sure the gyros are working as intended.
Advanced pilots use mixes for example to help out with 3D flying and knife edge flying. I'm not there yet. :)

@@GoofballFlyer Ok i get where your coming from, and the mix ratio is set at 70% rudder to Aileron?

Using a 4S 2200mAh battery, on a slightly windy day, I can get 50 minutes of flight time. I'm not that good at riding thermals (yet). This is a great plane!

I want this plane but you are right about the speed.
I'm not good enough and I can easily see myself losing the plane very fast.
I need to look for another glider, I can practise with until I'm ready for this bird.
I thought adding weight by using a bigger battery could maybe slow it down, but that would be stupid to go that way haha.

I have been flying for years and this planes flight envelope is the best. I flew it with 4s 2200 on its maiden and got an hour flight time on 3s 2200 1hr 15 minutes and I was doing stunts here and there to break up the monotony it's a 10 out of 10 out of the box 📦 I got the bnf version

Nice video, it seems quite fast. Did you measure the top speed in km/h?
I was unsure if get a Conscendo Evo BNF or a Turbo Timber Evo BNF, but I chose this one in the end. I ordered also 2x 3s and 2x 4s 2200mah G2 spektrum batteries + charger.
It's coming probably in the beginning of next week. I started to fly in august with a Sky King trainer and training also on RF simulator 9.5S with a spektrum radio sometimes, hopefully I will be alright with this model. Probably the turbo timber is more friendly to land than this.

I got one of these planes recently and it's fun to fly. I have set the C of G according to the manual but with the 2200 3S battery as far back as possible, an amount of up-elevator set in manually, trimmed out to max and with a small piece of lead at the tail it still wants to come down slowly on the nose all the time and I have to fly with some back pressure all the time! This happens when I cut the throttle and glide. Any thoughts on what can I do?

We have it set low rates at 70% mid rates at 85% and high rates at 100%. With 30% expo on all rates. We used that on all the control surfaces. Also I’m pretty sure that flew the entire video on high rates.
