I agree. I mean, can we get instant replay from Corvinus line of sight? I think that would be useful - we have replay in other sports. King ability doesn't prove he knew this would result in a "donation".
Watching last night the Corvinus video about this exact moment and now watching Drongo video as well. I feel like Corvinus honestly tried something and in the end it just panned out this way. Unfortunate but mistakes happen. Unlucky that he got scouted but that's the difference between OO2 and OO3, reveal king ability and giving away info in chat about their scuffle with Kyo.
its not unfortunate. If you watch beastys video from min 15:40 you clearly see that he types in all chat that he is dying and right after running his king out. Even beasty almost got him who was much farther away and fighting marinelord at the same time just because corvinus typed in all chat.
@@mysticaldevotion863How often do u watch the chat bcuz this is common, especially from Corvinus, and is not banned. Ur allowed to announce u are being attacked in the chat. One obvious hope is that someone will attack his attacker. But also someone could come down to get involved and it end up the two of them fighting and giving Corvinus a chance to breathe and the game to change. Corvinus also lies in the chat all the time. "That's not a donation. He's running the King. He's trying to run the King away, he's just trying to keep himself alive. That is not a donation, my friend. A donation would be running over here and saying in the chat, 'Hey, come and get your kill'. That is not a donation. There is no way that qualifies." -Drongo. "ACKSHUALLY it's definitely a donation and we'll dock Corv 8 points." -Admin. Come on man. If it's that ambiguous, 8 points is an absurd punishment.
If the admin thinks he donated the king, he should have been disqualified from the entire tournament. I personally do not understand what his goal there was. There is no world where he survives the attack. There is no world where you can hide the king in this mode. The only reason to run your king is if you are running him to some other fortified outpost, and he was not. Furthermore, he ran straight towards someone he knew was in the area. It was not ambiguous to the person drongo hired to uphold the rules. The absolute best case scenario would be that corvinus lives an extra minute because no one spots his king, he gets eliminated, and kyo just never finds his king? Like cmon man. Him running the king like that did not offer him any extra points at all.
@@painter3570 Thats exactly my point. There is no way running the king does anything except give it to someone who isn't in age 2. Its literally giving it to someone else. He had no extra base in that area for the king to hide in.
Drongo could see the whole map, but Admin (cow) checked to see Corvinus' fog of war and confirmed he knew the location of Anotand via king ability. Corvinus could easily have ran the king east into the right corner but chose to donate. It's not ambiguous, its just that Drongo has a weird hill to die on with regards to king donation (as he mentioned). As for 8 points being harsh, maybe you're right but an example has to be made.
15:25 Drongo knew this type of thing wasn't worth it... And yet here we are anyway in his own tournament... Im not sure I would consider this Drongos tournament anymore if he is clearly not the shot caller...
How can you claim that an 8-point deduction is deserved? Even if we agree that he broke the rule, deducting 8 points is excessive. Moreover, the rulebook doesn't specify 8 point deduction for such cases; it was entirely based on the admins' (cows) decision. It makes you wonder if cow has some personal grudge against corvnus.
This is now my second comment on this topic but the more I think about Corvinus' point deduction the more aggressive I become. There are definitely players here who have more freedom than others. In this game alone, I would view the agreement between Marinelord and Beasty more critically than Corvinus' behavior. Beasty was as good as dead, but Anotand was spared in order to work with him to eliminate Baltune, which was also communicated in the chat. In Game 27, Beasty gave up early, although with 77 Villagers and the ability to spam Zhugenus, he could have held off CSoH for a few more minutes. That was also a clear violation of the rules. The rules clearly state that only the last two players are allowed to retire. CSoH might not have won the game if he had used more resources for Beasty. Why wasn't this punished?? This is all very dubious. It would only be fair to at least halve the punishment. I mean 8 points is an incredible amount and completely disproportionate. What if a player didn't have that many points?
Disagree about Beasty/MarineLord, but also about refs Corvinus ruling. Although I like Beasty, I watched Game 27 you are referencing, and I agree that he basically withdrew from the match. I actually thought he would withdraw from the tournament he was so pissed (watched 27 from his stream).
💯 agree. It's the severity and unequal enforcement of the rules that gets me. He deserved to be punished but not that harshly and others also broke the rules and got away with it. The early quitting was annoying from not just beasty. Demu as well I think.
How many potential points did Corviinus take away from Kyo here? He called him out by name in the chat so players would know he was weak, and then they see he doesn't get the kill. Of course he's an easy target and he didn't get the benefit of winning a fight. Intentionally or not, he really did a really unfair screw job on Kyo because his ego was hurt. Of all the people in AoE4 shouldn't the FFA leaderboard player know what a screwjob he accomplished in a cash tournament? He should be embarrassed about his behaviour.
I agree that the ff's by players should be punished moving forward, but beasty & ML refused to team in this game and actively attacked each other for this reason until there was a threat to the whole lobby when alliances started appearing. I have no problem with this based on my understanding of the rules. I do not believe that corvinus donated personally, however if it is ruled that he did the punishment does need to be severe - this action resulted in 50 pop for Anotand, and no 50 pop for Kyo which potentially could have resulted in Kyo getting the lobby win and into the finals instead of Anotand who, despite being stripped of the points for the kill, did win the lobby and the 9 points, and go through to the finals at the expense of Kyo which he would likely not have done without that pop (especially if the rest of the game played out the same way). As i opened with where I agree is that forfeiting and handing over a lot of momentum to the attacker is almost as bad in terms of deciding the winner in these games - yes beasty did it, but Demu also did it twice and Loue ff'd early to CSoH (his team mate!) and and all of these heavily impacted the rest of those games. I say this only to hopefully put you at ease that it is not just Beasty getting away with it!
The Outback Octagon seriously needs anonymous usernames and chat disabled, there's so much teaming up, Whamen was constantly focused first for a free kill, Puppypaw and Core teaming up, Beasty is getting 2v1 or 3v1 for no other reason than being Beasty, people pretending to be silver elo for a second just to give their king to someone else ... It doesn't feel like an FFA
Not the first game Beasty threw, he did the same on Anotand prior (killed his and the opponents chances to do anything useful ingame)... BTW I watched his POV and he AGAIN malded that he got focused by ML while clearly being the first to attack, deny, tower and TC his opponent, then crybaby about ML beating him purely 1vs1... Even when ML clearly asks for truce due to other 2 having 250-300 pop, he malds in chat about ML being the bully LOL Had not Baltune arrived to kill ML, Beasty had possibly several minutes of gameplay left... Beasty totally deserved 0 points, again. Nobody teamed up on him and he totally f-up Corvinus could have been punished for less, he did not steer the king directly into Anotand's base from start of run or communicated to Anotand to come and get the kill, also there is no motive (other than possible tantrum) as Kyo was much lower on points than Anotand, and for Corvinus' position it would be much better that Kyo got the kill than Ano (tourney point wise) Tourney points carrying on in full extent to the semifinals not the best idea, as some of the players (on top) don't really have any incentive to tryhard, and again some of the players (bottom) cannot reach the finals anyway. There is ruckus in the middle, that is fine, but even more of it could have been achieved by HALVING their previously acquired points. Also, completely erasing ALL points in the finals is, again, deincetivizing effort now in semi-finals. One way could be to have them get some points before the final rounds based on standing, i.e. the first gets 3 extra points entering finals, the 2nd and 3rd get 2 extra points, 4th and 5th 1 extra point, while 6th - 8th enter with no extra points at all... Then players on top would have a bit of pressure to win even these games that are not important to them as is now.
King run was a little sus after the sheep dono from corvinus to ano a couple games back, I could make sense of the sheep dono but not this - 8 pts is a bit harsh tho imo
Pushing Beasty to finals is stupid AF. Corvinus was trying some weird shit because that's what he does most of his games, he is thinking outside the box. Where else should he run? Cow is out of his mind and clearly Beasty fanboy. Shame, shame, shame
I think we need to stop using the word “teaming” for things like two 200 pop players taking out a 300 pop player. To me that’s an “alliance”. I also don’t believe donating sheep is “teaming” but I don’t think it should be allowed and should be a rule “you cannot willingly donate resources”. I think you need to define teaming and alliances out in the rules. Just my two cents.
Shouldn’t the points be reset as you progress through the tournament to the semi / final? Seems wrong moving to the semi finals and playing a different set of players while retaining your points from the previous round Granted I’m not 100% on how the tournament works, I’ve just been enjoying watching all these games, quality viewing as always Drongo 👍
It's the same pool of players competing for the same pool of points, and the players are shuffled every two games they have to play so they play against everybody. It makes sense that their hard work should carry over to at least the final 8, at which time the points will get reset and the last 8 players start over at 0 points
@@dr.evil2some847 Cheers for the info, so it’s really just a knock out stage straight to a final. My main issue with it being a “semi final” done this way is that the top x amount of players that are guaranteed through to the final don’t need to try and the bottom of the board players who have no chance ain’t really that bothered as they know their out. The only players trying is the mid pack where it actually means something.
@@troxeh. People can put up massive scores in single games. Although certainly not a typical game, u had Corvinus win a huge sacred victory in OO2 that catapulted him, and in the right circumstances anyone can really get a snowball going. So u have to play the games. Ideally u would like to see the scores closer so that more of the field can b competitive. But it's the nature of the beast. I see it in all competitions from video games to skateboarding to racing. U figure Nascar tallies a score across a whole season and a lot of those guys have a lot of weekends left to race knowing they have no mathematical chance at all. Here in the outback they technically all have a chance, albeit some much slimmer than others. The alternative here tho is very interesting and would seem to make the entire field equally competitive, skill a side, which obviously makes things more interesting... The thought has grown on me... But I think they have vague rules they need to work out that are causing too much controversy. And while they're doing that they can wisely choose to reset points for semis as well ;)
I need to communicate to non-Australians how weird it is having Eddie McGuire as the host of Who wants to be a Millionaire. From 1998-2021 he was the president of the biggest football team in the country (the Collingwood Magpies). It would be the equivalent of the owner of the Dallas Cowboys or Manchester United hosting it.
Donation an act of patronage where one gives unto another a resource in an act of kindness. Oh so kind are those to bring to the others such lovely gifts.
The problem is the rule says "INTENTIONALLY MOVING YOUR KING TO WHERE A KNOWN THREAT OR ENEMY IS". That did not happen, he was running away and got caught. Inappropriate application of the donation rule. 100% It also says the admin may at their discretion apply a penalty. So not only is the "referee" making a clear poor interpretation he's applying a penalty at his discretion compounding his own error.
In Game 39, CSOH just RUN his king alone toward BEASTY base location when under attack, and then BEASTY got the kill. If Corvinus was king donation why CsOH wasn't?? this is unfair.
Literally copied from my comment in Corv's video: The in-game chat is there for stuff like this. Would you still say the same if you had not read chat or if Beasty had been in Ano position? Corv can say whatever he wants in the chat, if the others pick up on him trying to taunt Kyo and check for the chance to snipe the king they'd do it, whoever have his king ability not on cooldown. Even in your clip, Beasty seen the messages and pop that ability immediately to see Corv's King on the loose. It's just who is paying more attention and who hit the ability at the right moment. Ano might have pop the ability way earlier than Beasty for all I care but Ano knew he had better chance to snipe... If this wasn't the case then how the hell could Puppypaw snipe the king across the map in the other game? the king "happened" to run toward Puppy's direction too at that moment and nobody called team. It's all the politics and strats that make OOT fun to watch. At this point Drongo and the refs should have explain the reason for -8 too or people will always question the number, be it -8 or -2. Just remove in-game chat altogether. Edit: Now having watched the game Corv'd been especially talkative this game. Beasty and Ano moved out at the same time so surely Ano's King ability was on cd or he would send only knights like Beasty did as he knows where to go. This is just a case of Corv giving himself away. -8 is too harsh.
in the future be clear with your rules and punishment. this is ridiculous -8 points is a lot of points with 0 warning. Beasty rage quitting games constantly (which is a clear rule break btw) doesn't even get a slap on the wrist for it Be clear with whats allowed and what isn't, how and the what the punishments are for each rule break Stop picking favorites Having a finals bracket based on points with no point reset is ridiculous, you just allow the top 3 player to slog the entire thing because they are guaranteed to make it to finals. once it gets to top 16, reset points and start from scratch And once again, was the -8 points based on "how many points we need to get this guy out of finals?" or what was the criteria for it? overall very bad tournament, season 2 of OO was goated but this one aint it
I doubt very much that the number was chosen to eliminate corvinus. He's a fan favourite and hilarious to watch. But otherwise I agree. The punishment was arbitrarily too harsh
Plus the tournament is going very well. This sours it slightly but don't throw out the baby with the bath water lol. Definitely sad to see corvinus out though.
@@sanethoughtspreader I played plenty of FFA's, sheep donation lead to this -8pts, but discussing how to take down a superior opponent is allowed, no difference in the political act of the two. After knowing a bit more after watching game 36, I've come back to say 8 points is very harsh. You've changed your mind about king donations previously, you said they were a skill issue. Was it not a skill issue? I agree it was a sus move on corvinus's part and i think he deserves some punishment but denying him a place in the finals. That feels very harsh. So much effort is made to pander to beasty and his feelings, can we try to administer the rules equally and fairly and have the punishments or penalties transparent if possible. As always, great competition. Loving it. Loving the casting. Loving the games. Please keep up the good work and I'm sorry if i sound overly negative, i mean it as criticism of an aspect of the competition rather than the whole thing. Rant over :)
The problem is the vague rules. I'm not watching any more of this. The rules have ruined it for me by affecting my favorite player. U can't talk like it's a skill issue if u can't stop the king run and then penalize someone when they run the king. King running was always ridiculous in the first place. U get points for eliminations and winning and u can't do either with a running king that has no base. But that's always been the case. U should have had concrete rules in place. It's the same thing with teaming. There's a fine line between teaming and just being a hungry shark... Hungry sharks murky the water. Get rid of it, and get rid of King running, neither should b allowed bcuz they are far too open to interpretation the way the rules stand. Outback 2 was GOATed. Outback 3 is a stain...

8 points was too much. Even For giving 2 points to someone.. but well Corvinius, did other unfair stuff in the tournament.. that’s too bad, he is fun to watch
I think drongo should shut the frick up about what's a donation and what's not what's teaming and what's not. Let the umpires (for legal reasons we get it the same joke every game drongo we get it for legal reasons you can stop saying that WE GOT IT HAHA) decide. What's the point of having them there to take the blame off himself if he yapps about it anyway. Just let it slide and leave it to them. Yapping about it just invalidates them completely, and they already have little to no validity to boast about.
That was 100% a donation. Corv was in castle age, had used his king ability to check where the players are, was salty in the comments about Kyo's ram push and ran the king directly to Anotand. Sucks that this move cost him 8 points, but if he didn't throw a temper tantrum he would've been fine.
I agree he deserves to be punished but 8 points. That's a huge punishment. If that was applied to any of the lower 4 of the top 8, theyd be out of the top eight. Would that number apply to those who have no points? Can anyone explain the number. It seems ridiculously harsh.
Corvinus explained what happened. He had no intention of donating the king but because he ran into the scout's line of sight he got killed by Anotand. 8 point loss? Unacceptable. Furthermore after rewatching the loss of the king, he was trying to hide on the edge of the map in a small piece of stealth forest. Why does this game feel like a rigged attempt to keep Beasty in the final 8? 200 pop and Anotand chooses to ignore his weak neighbor and kill Baltune? Pffttt 🙄
Not agree with last sentence! Idk about rest. Put your self in Anotand shoe. Who would u pick to fight between 200 pop and 300 pop with over 6 or 7 relics first and save beasty for the last? No prize for being 2nd so its logic
I am pretty sure Covinus also donated sheep to Anotand that one game where he was fighting Beasty so there might be some teaming going on between Corvinus and Anotand
I want to see how Corvinus1 fans defend him again. Last time, it was because beasty fans cry a lot and that the sheep donation to his buddy Anotand was "strategic". I wonder how they are going to justify Corvinus and Anotand teaming this time. Ugly behavior.
For me as less of a corvinus fan and more of a fun plays fan, I won't defend him this time, because he was wrong. As the situation with Corvinus had happen u clearly said that was no king Donation. It is legit to run away with the king to avoid dying. The only reason why Anotand got the kill was because there was a random Scout. It is clearly not the first time a King got sniped by an other player while running away from a safe spot to the presence of an other player. It think there was at least 10 situations in OO3 where u could have used this ruling too. Think out of the Box. What would have happend if Corvinus safed the King with this play and won the game? Then he would have be the hero of the day… Its definitly disgusting that the choice to safe the king can make a difference of !16! points in a turnament like this.
Well deserved -8. Setting example for the rest and onward. Sheeps donation to Anotand, King walk to Anotand. Just play the game like the rest of the contestants yea? Mess around and find out, that's all.
In Game 39, CSOH just did the same thing as Corvinus1 did in this game, RUN his king toward BEASTY base location when under attack, and then BEASTY got the kill. If Corvinus1's behavior was king donation why CsOH wasn't?
Good ruling by the umpire. I think corvinus is a great player and very very fun to watch but yea he donated there. I think the ruling is good and fair. The punishment is pretty harsh though, maybe make it a little less harsh as that's a lot of points. We want it to deter players from doing it but not cripple them out of the competition. I think names should be hidden at all stages of the game. Certain players helping other players and targeting players because of the points is unpleasant to watch.
@@AkshayPrasadrocks Kyo was age 2, he could not scout for king
@@painter3570 yeh but he should of ran into the corner instead at Anotand's base xD
Anotand casually forgetting he had 300 pop for a while
I personally think him quitting that game was the largest violation of the rule book that ive seen in this tournament... And yet...
300 IQ play = 5 sheep + 1 king donation - 8 points
justice for corvinus... 8 points is too much
Deserved.
100% deserved.. manually sending sheep to another player? Then sending King? It's not rocket science
Sheep is just politics, sending the king is indeed wrong, but 8 points is absurd.
How can you claim that an 8-point deduction is deserved? Even if we agree that he broke the rule, deducting 8 points is excessive. Moreover, the rulebook doesn't specify 8 point deduction for such cases; it was entirely based on the admins' (cows) decision. It makes you wonder if cow has some personal grudge against corvnus.
deserved, sending sheeps, sending king.
What if a player didn't have that many points?
what agreement they were fighting the wholoe game
Agree on the pseudonyms but disagree on the chat disabled. They'll just use discord chat in the bacground to team up.
Even when ML clearly asks for truce due to other 2 having 250-300 pop, he malds in chat about ML being the bully LOL
Had not Baltune arrived to kill ML, Beasty had possibly several minutes of gameplay left...
Beasty totally deserved 0 points, again. Nobody teamed up on him and he totally f-up
Corvinus could have been punished for less, he did not steer the king directly into Anotand's base from start of run or communicated to Anotand to come and get the kill, also there is no motive (other than possible tantrum) as Kyo was much lower on points than Anotand, and for Corvinus' position it would be much better that Kyo got the kill than Ano (tourney point wise)
Tourney points carrying on in full extent to the semifinals not the best idea, as some of the players (on top) don't really have any incentive to tryhard, and again some of the players (bottom) cannot reach the finals anyway.
All king runs are sus when u only get points for winning and eliminations and a lonesome king with a sacked base will do neither
The problem is, u get this when u have such vague rules. Especially when the prom queen gets his feelings hurt...
Seems wrong moving to the semi finals and playing a different set of players while retaining your points from the previous round
Granted I’m not 100% on how the tournament works, I’ve just been enjoying watching all these games, quality viewing as always Drongo 👍
I agree in principle; reset the points, or at least halv them, so that the difference between the players shrink.
And while they're doing that they can wisely choose to reset points for semis as well ;)
@@dr.evil2some847 It’s still been an excellent Tournament and Drongo nails the commentary roll on todays match 👌 👍
Sometimes i think Drongo casts these games with his eyes closed. The shock of Baltune's TC going down and king dying was hilarious
-8? That's harsh.
Donation an act of patronage where one gives unto another a resource in an act of kindness. Oh so kind are those to bring to the others such lovely gifts.
U should highlight the players in the game with a glow graphic . When u talk about the leader boards. Great job casting
The 31 minute conversation was amazing I’m going for baltune can you survive beasty yeah then 40 seconds later maybe lol

What's the point in running the king at all if you know you're dead?
To deny against players who feudeal all-in u^, points and extra pop
Better than quitting like TearyQT does, I guess..
In Game 39, CSOH just RUN his king alone toward BEASTY base location when under attack, and then BEASTY got the kill. If Corvinus was king donation why CsOH wasn't?? this is unfair.

What was gonna do corvinus down there anyways lmao just take the L like a man. King donation 100%
Whole 10 first min just hyperfixating on one player. How can you even be suprised you missed Baltune castle age?
in the future be clear with your rules and punishment. this is ridiculous
-8 points is a lot of points with 0 warning.
Beasty rage quitting games constantly (which is a clear rule break btw) doesn't even get a slap on the wrist for it
Be clear with whats allowed and what isn't, how and the what the punishments are for each rule break
Stop picking favorites
Having a finals bracket based on points with no point reset is ridiculous, you just allow the top 3 player to slog the entire thing because they are guaranteed to make it to finals. once it gets to top 16, reset points and start from scratch
And once again, was the -8 points based on "how many points we need to get this guy out of finals?" or what was the criteria for it? overall very bad tournament, season 2 of OO was goated but this one aint it
Another reason why they should hide names
I doubt very much that the number was chosen to eliminate corvinus. He's a fan favourite and hilarious to watch. But otherwise I agree. The punishment was arbitrarily too harsh
Plus the tournament is going very well. This sours it slightly but don't throw out the baby with the bath water lol. Definitely sad to see corvinus out though.
@@sanethoughtspreader I played plenty of FFA's, sheep donation lead to this -8pts, but discussing how to take down a superior opponent is allowed, no difference in the political act of the two. at this point i'd be shocked if Drongo actually caught a king elim...my god man focus less on cracking jokes and more on the 1 thing you're supposed to be doing xD
You mean the "umpire" right?
It wasn't Drongo's call, the admins made the call.

If corvinus king los counts as donation, then marinlords should count as a atempt as well. I don't think it's close enough to a donation and definetly not worth -8P. That is a bit much for something this unclear
What attempt??? There is no attempted king donation. There is only do or don’t. How tf do you fail a king donation.

8 points was too much. Even For giving 2 points to someone.. but well Corvinius, did other unfair stuff in the tournament.. that’s too bad, he is fun to watch
Leave the sheep alone Drongo
not an obvious king donation at all admins need to chill out
I think drongo should shut the frick up about what's a donation and what's not what's teaming and what's not.
So an he is doing it. He can have his opinion buz the admins decide.

In Game 39, CSOH just did the same thing as Corvinus1 did in this game, RUN his king toward BEASTY base location when under attack, and then BEASTY got the kill. If Corvinus1's behavior was king donation why CsOH wasn't?

THIS IS CLEARLY KING DONATION
Good ruling by the umpire. I think corvinus is a great player and very very fun to watch but yea he donated there. I think the ruling is good and fair. The punishment is pretty harsh though, maybe make it a little less harsh as that's a lot of points. We want it to deter players from doing it but not cripple them out of the competition.
I think names should be hidden at all stages of the game. Certain players helping other players and targeting players because of the points is unpleasant to watch.
