That praise is well deserved, SRP makes up over half of all my playtime in Assetto for a reason. It really feels like an entirely different game separate from Assetto at this point.
TDU did another thing better than any other game - it made you feel like you actually bought and own the car. The dealerships, choosing the spec, testdriving it, having to get a place to park it - I can't remember another game that gives the player that feeling.
@@misorodzinak8829 Forza was kinda doing that in the first Horizon, but it all went downfall and in every next FH edition you feel much less attachment to your cars and playing with other people is not as climatic as before. TDU was fantastic in terms of that, both TDU1 and TDU2 actually. I feel like test drive unlimited is really underrated, its far from the best racing game, but holy shit, it really hit that awesome spot and created so much unique memories that not a single other game ever did. TDU memories just feel so different and nostalgic. I would give so much to just go back in time for a little and play both Test Drives on multiplayer at their peak, just to feel it once again. People still play it, but its really easy to cheat now and even tho there are players on the map, its kinda empty now and it was pretty sad to launch TDU2 nowadays. But when it came out, holy shit, the mood and climate was so stunning and fantastic
So stoked to see Jimmy finally experiencing this, SRP has been an incredible experience for me over the past few years and I love seeing it through fresh eyes!!
Playing this at night in my OLED headset with its perfect blacks it is so immersive. The Dreamcast one of the best early racing games in my experience, which is exactly this. Shutoko Battle 2 (JP) / Tokyo Highway Challenge 2 (EU) / Tokyo Xtreme Racer 2 (US) was just about driving around the Shutoko highway in Tokyo. It had all the tuning like NFS and then you just roamed a 1:1 version of the Shutoko Highway system. I think it says it has 160 km of highway to just roam about during the night against other cars. To me this mod is a remake of this game, because I grew up with that game. Of course this mod, just the Tokyo Highway Challenge, is based on the real racers during the 90s.
@@Freezorgium Not sure what you are referring to...? I just highlighted Tokyo Highway Challenge 2, because it is just plain better in every regard than Tokyo Highway Challenge 1. A true successor.

I love this mod, it took me back to my childhood playing Tokyo Xtreme Racer, just blasting down those evaluated highways in a Honda Civic, spamming my lights at any other racer I saw.
I love this though! I went to Tatsumi parking area in 2019, and it was amazing to see it virtually. Would recommend it to anyone, if you can get up there, pro tip you can use a taxi or uber app if needed!
you're the man Jimmer! used to hit these servers daily but been too focused on drifting recently.. as you said it's such an awesome achievement/mod the srp team have put together and deserves much more recognition. so much fun, always find myself in awe at the detail and visuals even on my mid range setup without reshade or pure mods.
Great drive by both of you yesterday. That pressure was heavy at the end and you kept your cool. Just kept thinking how proud your grandfather would be. From the shed to beating the Stig.👏

Been driving on SRP almost a year since a canadian friend threatened me into trying it. So thrilled to see you enjoying it!! Content Manager for the win!!
Been playing the map since it came out and it's unbelievably fun racing with friends through traffic especially in vr. They need to add back the parking area by the highway if they haven't yet. It was where everyone could hangout better
Grew up just down the Yoko-Yoko and have driven these roads before. Simply the best roads in the world, especially the run over Rainbow Bridge at night with the Tokyo skyline lit up in front of you. Special beyond words
Went from cruising the Shuto in an MR2 with PS4 controller in lockdown 2020 to a full wheel and VR setup in 2022. Whenever I want to do some sim, I always jump on this. It’s incredible.
man, I wish I had a PC & Rig to try this out, possibly one of the coolest things I've seen from a video game, no matter how many times I've seen videos on this it always blows me away! id sit for hours just cruising
Welcome to SRP, it's an absolute blast in VR. I've driven some of the central routes in real life and it's amazing how realistic and accurately it's been modelled. Look forward to seeing you online for a cruise sometime.
This is so awesome, definitely going to check it out. Funny thing is when I was a kid the R31 would never have been anywhere near my list of cool cars, they weren't that uncommon here in NZ and most of them were just old and ragged. But I saw a very tidy one that someone had obviously looked after parked by the road the other day and I literally pulled over to take a photo of it. I just wish I'd bought one when they were cheap(ish), it's aged so well.
Jimmy, this hits so close to home, you have no idea. My first "racing" games were NFS1 and NFS2. Grew up with modding the sh!t out of NFS3 and NFS4, then got into more "proper" racing games / simcade. It's a hobby and a passion until today, I'm 40 now. Seeing this video and your sheer pleasure threw me back to the immersion I felt as an early teenager playing Need For Speed. And now I'm sitting here, thinking: I have a Valve Index. I have a racing seat & wheel. I have a beefy PC and AC with mods. Why the fuck am I still working a boring office job?!
100% , got into vr sim racing just because of this mod. Now I'm playing Dirt Rally 2.0 and loving it, and assetto Corsa in general has so many great mods, like LA Canyons, Alto Tajo, Mulholland Drive, Santa monica mountains, Pacific Coast Hihhway, so many great cruising maps, plus the rain mod for Sol, and Pure lighting, and traffic mods, it truly is a marvel what they have done with this game from 2014
IIRC there was a german doctor, who daily drove his McLaren F1 between two bigger cities (aka, lived far enough from his workplace he used the autobahn everyday) and held close to 300km/h on majority of his commute. Data from his ECU backed this story up, and whenever mechanics would do maintenance on his car, they'd wonder how was it used, as regular wear and tear isn't common in supercars, but the engine's fluids showed signs of the engine being hammered for extended periods of time, and these two things kinds of use would usually exclude each other.
aside from the amazing mod as knew of it already, honestly this to me felt like your best sim racing related video in a long while, very few jump cuts, not over the top, and we could tell you were having genuine fun in this video!
See I am an iRacer, and didn't really care much for ACC, but I gotta say, these AC mods are mental. Very cool stuff out there if you're just looking for a nice drive in some of your favorite cars. Well done by the team to allow such creations. From driving the mountain side to actually ripping it through the highways of Tokyo. Just rad
If you get a hold of Assetto Corsa Content Manager, you can have such a blast in this game, and the community has made so many random little cars. Best fun I ever had was my mate and I (Aussies) racing his IRL Toyota Yaris model around Bathurst. It's not fast by any stretch of the imagination, but it's such a different experience that no other game really meets.
Id like to think it was my twitch message that brought you to this lol. Its such a vibe kind of mod. I have spent hours just blasting through the road with a shelby cobra, not racing anyone just driving. Its wonderful
SRP improved by leaps and bounds when they enabled traffic on servers. So many of my hours have been absorbed in VR thrashing the daylights out of JDM cars with randos online.
I no longer have my sim setup in my office where my PC is. That makes me kind of sad because this is some of the most fun I've ever had in a sim rig. It can be as intense, or as laid back as you like. I haven't played since they added the traffic in but it makes me so happy that this mod is getting the attention it deserves. Tokyo is an absolutely wonderful city, and for our generation (and many more), Japanese car culture has been so important. I feel this mod is the closest you can get to that without actually being there, plus being in the safety of a sim rig. The R33 GTR is my absolute favourite, but everytime I see something JDM in public I can't help but feel extremely nostalgic. To us, these cars are memories, experiences and pure emotion. One day soon I'll make sure I get my wheel setup again so I can cruise down the highway with some fellow car nerds.
I've been looking at this mod for a long time now, I have a copy of Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3 for PS2 that I still play. This is kind of a combination of that game and Wangan Midnight. Late 90s/early 2000s Japanese car culture was an amazing thing

YES! SRP needs this attention! It's my go-to for AC mods. Nothing beats cruising highways with friends.
0:46 Nikko's theme song from from Midnight Club 2. Classic. I love all of the MC2 themes added to this video.
It is insanely cool to watch you geek out about this mod and getting to experience it. Your enjoyment and excitement is contagious!
Thank you so much for sharing this experience with us
I was waiting for you to get this mod. I'm glad you've finally got convinced. Thanks. Big up to Lenovo too.
The midnight club 2 music in the background 🤌🤌🤌 jimmy you are a man of CULTURE
I love these types of servers so much. Incredible vibes
Went from cruising the Shuto in an MR2 with PS4 controller in lockdown 2020 to a full wheel and VR setup in 2022. Whenever I want to do some sim, I always jump on this. It’s incredible.
The physics at 6:45 looks soo good. Incredible
man, I wish I had a PC & Rig to try this out, possibly one of the coolest things I've seen from a video game, no matter how many times I've seen videos on this it always blows me away! id sit for hours just cruising
I love the way jimmy constantly checks his mirrors as he drives, even when talking to the audience. It's clearly second instinct to him now.
Sub tech - timeshift
Midnight club 2 was so awesome!
Loved the inclusion of import tunwr challenge, great choice of music sir Broadbent
This is literally a game that many people including myself have imagined and dreamed to exist and play and behold it exist. 😮
About time you did a Shutoku vid. It looks so, so good.
I love this it reminds me of the communities we had in gmod theatre back in the day
100% , got into vr sim racing just because of this mod. Now I'm playing Dirt Rally 2.0 and loving it, and assetto Corsa in general has so many great mods, like LA Canyons, Alto Tajo, Mulholland Drive, Santa monica mountains, Pacific Coast Hihhway, so many great cruising maps, plus the rain mod for Sol, and Pure lighting, and traffic mods, it truly is a marvel what they have done with this game from 2014
BOOM WITH THE NOTI GANG 🇯🇵🎌
This is my favorite video of yours yet! You seem so excited, it's infectious. I can't wait to try this!
IIRC there was a german doctor, who daily drove his McLaren F1 between two bigger cities (aka, lived far enough from his workplace he used the autobahn everyday) and held close to 300km/h on majority of his commute. Data from his ECU backed this story up, and whenever mechanics would do maintenance on his car, they'd wonder how was it used, as regular wear and tear isn't common in supercars, but the engine's fluids showed signs of the engine being hammered for extended periods of time, and these two things kinds of use would usually exclude each other.
i love the small clip of the black skyline from Masalovescars a man of culture
aside from the amazing mod as knew of it already, honestly this to me felt like your best sim racing related video in a long while, very few jump cuts, not over the top, and we could tell you were having genuine fun in this video!
This might be one of my favorite videos you've made!! I want to see more of this.
@@asinineintentions7773 noted brother. I guess I shall dabble a bit into something different.
Id like to think it was my twitch message that brought you to this lol. Its such a vibe kind of mod. I have spent hours just blasting through the road with a shelby cobra, not racing anyone just driving. Its wonderful
Finally Jimmer! I was one of those people trying to get you to play this mod!
Love this chilled content from you Jimmer, this is like old school Jimmerino.
Literally got this this today, it's kickass
@Jimmy Broadbent I love how you used the TXR3 soundtrack in your video!
this is the best VR racing experience out there
0:02 Not even 5 seconds and I already bursted out laughing.
SRP improved by leaps and bounds when they enabled traffic on servers. So many of my hours have been absorbed in VR thrashing the daylights out of JDM cars with randos online.
Love the Running in the 90s remix at the end!!
I'm so happy to see you making the content you enjoy. You may not see it, but the videos are actually far better and more entertaining this way!
One day soon I'll make sure I get my wheel setup again so I can cruise down the highway with some fellow car nerds.
the music gave me so many memories of MNC2
Awesome mod played a couple of months ago in VR was a fan of the MR2 was breath-taking cruising with others
I've been looking at this mod for a long time now, I have a copy of Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3 for PS2 that I still play. This is kind of a combination of that game and Wangan Midnight. Late 90s/early 2000s Japanese car culture was an amazing thing
This game with wet mod and rain looks BEAUTIFUL, best car game for me no doubt, and everything bc of the mods 👏🏼👏🏼
I speak for everyone this mod + an evening stream is something we all want to see soon
