I made my own pull-through. Went to the Salvation Army store and found a 100% real silk blouse for under $5. One sleeve is the right size for the neck, the back works for the main body. Some string the right length (depends on you and your sax) with a weight on one end and the other tied to one corner of the silk and done.
Today I learned that I can clean the mouthpiece and reed (Legere FTW) thoroughly, but nasty-smelling schmoo can still collect on the ligature and in the brass mouthpiece cap!
I keep a small jar of Hydrogen peroxide for my used reeds, for sanitizing them, I drop them in, they start fizzing, once the fizzing stops about 5 minutes more or less, i then rinse them off with water. and dry them out. to improve cane reeds I'll wet one with water for a minute or so, and then lightly push the reed across a piece of 1000 grit wet dry sandpaper, I do that on all sides and end except the playing tip, this seals the porous reed, so air doesnt leak through the reed, I have tested this before and after, and reeds always play better after, it only takes light pressure and maybe 4 light pushes about 4 to 6 inches Long, then rinse thoughly
I first remove the mouthpiece and wash it out with running water. After that I dry it out with cloth, and leave it out for about 15 mins. I use a cloth to separately dry the neck, and leave it outside for 15 mins as well. I also wash the reed with running water and gently dry it off with a cloth. I tend to leave the reed out to fully dry for about 30 mins.
Tip number 1 - Never ever lift the sax by the neck. If not secured properly the body crashes to the ground whilst you're left holding the neck and probably crying.
So you don't swab the main body evertime?
So talented and beautiful. Thank you for your videos
