Reigen reminds me of Eikichi Onizuka Sensei from GTO. I know you choose your watchlist from the votes on your patron but GTO is a classic anime, you'll definitely like it if you check it out.
I love how this anime shows how insecurity is something you feel regardless of whether or not you have qualities. Like many of us Mob is a person full of qualities but who ends up not understanding the value of himself.
I love how Reigen could have a succesful honest job as a massage therapist, or as anything else really as he's apparently super talented but he just goes for the shady exorcist job relying on a middle schooler
To be fair, most of his clients aren't actually being haunted, they just need physio. Better Reigen than a charlatan who will just throw some herbs around and do some incantations, and not actually address that shoulder pain or stress headache. And he caters for the rare genuine hauntings by employing Mob. As fake psychics go, Reigen is the one who really earns his fee. He even knows photoshop.
Body Improvement Club! Fight on! Honestly, such a twist but also so understandable with Mob's experiences in the past. The best part about this bit is how wholesome it was - no one was like "What, that scrawny loser wants to joins us?" Everyone was just like "Hell yeah, someone else who wants to improve and be the best they can be! Happy to have you!"
I love everyone's initial reaction to the body improvement club, since you expect a group of jock head jerks. But they're the most realistic depiction of dudes who lift. In case you were wondering, they're based of actual weight lifters the creator of Mob met at the gym who were encouraging and helping him work out.
I love the whole setup for the twist. The student council and jocks are visually portrayed as the bad guys, and no one questions it because that's pretty normal in anime, years of watching standard anime conditioned me into believing he would join the telepathy club, so the twist was genuinely surprising. Obviously after thinking for a second it makes complete sense for his character to choose self-improvement.
VA of Tome, leader of the telepathy club, is Atsumi Tanezaki who also voiced Anya from SPY x FAMILY and Hinatsuru (One of Tengen's wives who shot kunai on the roof) from Demon Slayer. She's unbelievably talented🔥
also i think the idea with the perv spirit was a bit more complex, i think in life he was just awkward and alone, but dying he became corrupted and that exacerbated all of that and warped it. idk thats just what i took from that

What I love about Mob Psycho is that it takes the time to remind us that everyone is just a person with their own struggles. When I first saw this, I immediately thought the body improvement club were going to be cruel bullies, but then the show shows the second Mob takes the step to actually meet them and go past appearances, they are totally nice guys. Just because they're different than Mob doesn't mean they're going to berate him. It's a lesson about living outside of your bubble. Mob sets a goal, and he finds people willing to support him and help him get there. Good life lesson.
omg you two are the BEST!!! mob psycho 100 blends every aspect of what makes anime great and gives us in my opinion one of the greatest stories ever in fiction history. genuinely i’ve never laughed, cried and cheered like this for a young kid trynna figure shit out paired with the greatest anime character ever (reigen san) as his mentor. it stays true to the source material so there will be literally 0 misses throughout the series. the animators put passion and their heart and souls into this project and i can’t thank them enough, from the animation to the OST every frame and scene was perfectly executed. i cannot thank them enough. and i’m so glad you two are reacting to this ❤❤.
The evil spirit in the episode is most likely a student not a teacher because of the uniform he’s wearing, his face seemed pretty young, and his more high pitched voice but what he did is still creepy as shit
1 dollar is about 140 yen so its not even close these days tbh. There's a big difference between saying something being 100.000 won = 1000 USD and the actual value which is 715 USD. I hope this doesn't come across as rude, I just want people to know that method (unfortunately) is not as applicable as it was some years ago

mob 100 is all about having the mindset of improvement, the villains in this enemy already think they are the shit and better than the others, but the Body improvement club (FIGHT ON FIGHT ON) are all about improvement and believing anyone can be like them. the anime show they are the good guys no question

I don’t know if you will see this but for your next kdrama reaction can you check out under the queen’s umbrella it’s about the queen and her mission to protect her sons her oldest is the crown prince who is set to take throne after king but he becomes ill and she learns her sons are not well liked they are sweet but can be irresponsible they will try to use her sons illness to depose her and get rid of her sons also the king has other sons with concubines so they are scheming to get their sons the position as well sorry for long message 😭
I really don’t want to start a dub vs sub war here, because I love both versions for this show equally, but I just wanted to give a shout-out to the English dub of Mob Psycho 100. I honestly think it’s elite and just as emotional and funny as the Japanese sub. Especially Mob and Reigen’s voice actors! And a couple other characters that haven’t shown up yet. They’re really standout, and I hope you two give a peek at them on your own time. Reigen’s English voice is by far my favorite. There are even video compilations of him specifically on RUclips! Though those have spoilers, so I’d wait until after you finish the Seasons 1 or 2 before checking them out.
I'm fairly neutral on the matter of sub vs dub, but sometimes there's one actor in a show who tips the balance like Reigen's English VA or Innosuke's Japanese VA.
Lol I gotta disagree with that selfish comment but not for the reasons one may think. I would say everyone is motivated, speaks and acts based upon self interest, which it's not selfishness as that is more a heightened perverse form of an individuals self interest.
