Good question! Frequent regenerations may be a sign that something is wrong with the DPF indeed. The DPF will continue to try and burn off excess soot. This may not be successful and I assume that if we help the DPF with a fuel additive such as the JLM DPF ReGen Plus or the JLM DPF Cleaning Spray we may be able to get a complete regen. Please do not forget to try and analyse what the reason for excessive soot collection is. Hope this helps!
Can I use it regularly? The first application helped but I don't think it's completely cleaned it. Can I use it again or do I have to wait a few thousand miles?
Thank you for your feedback! You can use a second dose, no problem. But not them together at the same time. Complete 1 treatment and then do the second. To fully understand what's going on it is best if you are able to get a read out of the saturation of the DPF before and after the treatment. What makes you think it's not completely cleaned?
Hi! And thank you for your question! It is difficult to say how often you should use a JLM DPF Cleaning Spray. What is important is that you not only clean the blocked diesel particulate filter, but you also try to find the cause of the blockage. Because if you don't find and fix the cause, the DPF will block again with excessive soot particles. and the DPF warning light will switch on again.
The DPF is situated after the catalytic convertor. So the when cleaning the dpf you will not treat the cat. Our DPF cleaner is not designed nor tested to treat/clean a catalytic convertor therefore we can only advise you NOT to use it for this. Sorry
Hi Paul, thank you for your question! In fact ash cannot be cleaned out by using a chemical and/or fuel additive while the DPF remains in situ. This is not something we can do with our technical lubricants. We advise you to look for a specialist company who can actually remove ash for the dpf. Thanks!
1. After letting the car clear itself (I have a monitor to know when it is self-cleaning), re-inject and then manually start the self-cleaning again. 2. Before self-cleaning, inject and run at high speed to let him clear himself.
Thank you for your question Sean! The regenration of the dpf should follow directly after treating it with the dpf spray. So no more than say 30mins to an hour. If you let it sit too long it may cause corrosion and it will probably be less effective too.

Would this be effective spraying into my CAT to clean the dpf? My catalytic converter is before my dpf and I’ve removed the o2 sensor there recently. I’ve tried removing the temp sensor on the dpf and it’s seized right. Could I spray the cleaner into the cat which is directly above and before the dpf?
Hi Sam, many thanks for your question! The JLM DPF Spray is of course intended to spray directly into the diesel filter substrate. Only then it will be most effective. Spraying it into the catalytic convertor to let it flow into the DPF will not be a very effective solution I am afraid. If only because the heat in the cat will effect the chemical liquid before it will enter the DPF. Have you tried a proper fuel additive to clean your DPF? At JLM we have a very powerful formulated DPF Cleaner. Check out the J02210 www.jlmlubricants.com/en-us/products-additives/jlm-diesel-dpf-cleaner Hope this helps!
Can this be spayed into the injector hole on the dpf filter does it matter as they are at the same point just I can't undo the temperature sensor it's stuck even garage couldn't do it .
DO NOT DO THIS. This product is a fantastic way to destroy your SCR (Down stream of the DPF) and who knows what else in your fuel system. Your vehicle's built in regen system is perfectly capable of cleaning the DPF properly by burning off the carbon buildup. Also, running a regen cycle manually while parked is ill advised as the system is counting on airflow to manage the underhood and underbody temperatures that regen generates. The system is heating the DPF to over 900°F, very similar to an home oven's self cleaning mode. Without airflow that can damage surrounding components.
Há! Many thanks for sharing your concerns Secret Man! And yes, in theory the DPF system should manage everything perfectly by itself. However, in real life scenario the DPF and is affected by many external factors which it cannot control. For these matters we offer dedicated solutions partly for professional mechanics and even some DIY options. All our products are safe to use and do not cause any damage to the car when used correctly. Hope this helps!
If the problem returns than we advise you to contact a local DPF cleaning specialist. This indicates that there is an underlying technical problem which causes the DPF to fill up quickly with excessive soot particles.
Do you have to let it soak for awhile.
