Then why the British called their country "United Kingdom" instead of "British Empire" even tho they still have a king/queen. Heck, it still has the same anthem even. Yeah make sense bucko
Even older. The melody of the Marcha Real appears in the introduction (tawshiya) of the piece Nuba al Istihlal, by the Andalusian composer Avempace. Written in the eleventh century. But, of course, it only appeared in the official repertoire in 1761 and was officially adopted as the Royal Anthem in 1770.

There is a false information in the video description. Poland-Lithuania didn't try colonization. Only one who did it was Duchy of Kurland, her vassal state, in the XVIIth century. But the Polish king most probably didn't even know about it. Even if he knew, we can't consider the try to colonize as a Polish-Lithuanian initiative. Poland-Lithuania already had much problems in the XVIIth century, i.e.: Sweden, Russia and Turkey. Why would they try to create a global colonial empire? Greetings from Poland! P.S. It's corrected now.
It does not matter if they did not try colonization. Austria is still on here, Poland-Lithuania was a Empire and this video is about empires, not limiting to those who did colonization.

God save the queen/king´s melody became very popular everywhere in the 19th century, it was seen as an anthem of monarchy and etc, and in the end the melody was good and easy to sing, things wich made it popular even among common people.
It was used for some time in Austria , Germany, The UK, Russia ( i think ) and about all morchies had a version of God save the King in their own language, including Brazil all the way down in the Americas.
And in fact even Republics used the melody, such as The Us in "My country this of thee". But that´s as far as i Know.

For the first french colonial empire, you could've put the Tchaikovsky version of ''Vive Henri IV'', or the movie version, the one you used is the least pretty version of this song, sung by an amateur. Also, the real anthem of the french monarchy is Domine Salvum Fac Regem, Vive Henri IV is more of a folk song in honor of one of our best kings. Very good work otherwise, keep it up !
The British empire was not from 1497 to 1997, their empire collapsed a few times.

Btw, Japan still has an Emperor. So it’s still an Empire. Heck, it still has the same anthem even.
It is an Empire by definition, but given the correlation rung with the word “Japanese Empire”, people don’t really like to call it an empire. The Japanese government even refrains from calling their nation an empire, and instead goes with the neutral “State of Japan” instead of “Empire of Japan”.

I didn’t know the Spanish national anthem was 584 years old!
Not really because every time a republic was Stablished the anthem changed
Now a days is still like our anthem

You telling me that Germany's anthem melody is inspired on the Austrian Empire's anthem!? And why did the German Empire's anthem is the same as the British one!?
Because those countries used the same anthem as Britain.
Poles also used Bogurodzica as anthem.
It's a pity that I don't see anybody including the Hungarian anthem for Austria-Hungary, as it was equal to the Austrian anthem at the time.
Unfortunately Himnusz was not made an official anthem (or at least co-anthem) within Austria-Hungary. There were attempts at the Hungarian parliament in the 1900s but it did not pass.
But well it was the de facto anthem of the Lands of the Crown of Saint Stephen (unfortunately did not include it in this video, sorry) but you can find it in my Hungary: Anthem History video.

@@icehawx5580 Of course. But I said "there is a false information in the video description" (now corrected), not "PLC should not be included in the video".
Thanks for the correction, btw. Indeed it was mostly a Curonian initiative under Jacob Kettler who spoke Latvian, which perplexed me at first when I saw videos that stated that Latvia once had an "empire."
