my favorite tip is to use the magnesium beads, I will definitely be trying that! I will still hang my clothes outside to be dried by sun and wind. It feels healthy that way.
I think you can eliminate the bag for the laundry. I was living 3 weeks in a traditional house in Tokyo, and I see how they had the wash machine in the bathroom, close to he sink, and then you had a door to the bathtub room and other door to the toilette. That has more sense than to have the washing machine in the kitchen, like in Europe. So you only had to quit your clothes and put them directly in the washing machine. No bag and no to waste time to bring the bag to the washing machine. Since that I think all the washing machines must to be in the bathroom. I love your videos. Sorry for my English.
He is in a share house where others use the laundry machine. So this method with the laundry bag makes it work best in a shared space and sharing the machine

The first thing I do in the morning is watching one of your videos for inspiration. :) It gives me the right mindset to start the day. I never knew one could simply use magnesium for washing the laundry.
At first, I was hesitant to watch this video as soon I saw the title 'Laundry Tips??'. I was like "Really, that's a waste of time!". But I continued to watch it. It was incredibly relatable, and I found myself chuckling, particularly when he remarked that pinching small garments one by one takes a long time. I completely agree, and I exclaimed, "I WANT THAT!!!" This is why TIP#6 is a must-try!!!!
I'm loving the idea with the magnesium balls. Right now, I use soapberries instead of detergent. Yeah, there's no way I'd be drying my laundry indoors or outside in the wintertime in Denmark. I have to go for the tumble dryer, I'm afraid
Most communities in the US it's not allowed to hang laundry outside. It's viewed as unsightly and people don't like to have their property value declining. I use a drying rack in the bedroom with a fan.
@@Aloha-sailor Thankfully, I don't live in such an oppressive country. We love to hang things out to dry, it's just too cold in the winter time. Even todlers and babies sleep outside.
Yeah, it's a no-no in many US cities, even in California where we try to tout energy conservation. But we sorta offset all that energy use with solar. I'm going on a video binge so starting from the beginning. I also like the idea of the magnesium balls, but in the States many early adopters of HE(high efficiency aka water conservation) washing machines are stuck with machines that don't have a "soak" setting or "deep fill" setting. The newer HE machines from maybe as recently as 3yrs? back, DO have this "deep fill" setting. One of Aki's later videos say the magnesium works when it has had time to turn the water alkaline, was it 30mins soak in warm water or something like that? My HE washer wets just the clothes, idk if it even has enough water to let it slosh back and forth when it agitates inside, so I doubt the Mg balls would work. That's why when my washer goes out, I'm definitely changing it to one with a "deep fill". I've made my own detergent with washing soda recipes, but I want to really try the Mg balls... probably better with no white powder residue or what seems to me clothes fading prematurely. I also like how it could be revitalized with a cleaning in citric acid? I don't soil my clothes in dirt, oil or grease, so I believe the alkali water might be good enough. So cool to find these tips and tricks. Keep them coming Aki.👍👍
Hey man look into the science of magnesium balls, many customer's organizations say they don't work any better than just water! You can be even more extreme minimalist and eliminate them all together!
Hey, I have been looking for scientific evidence of the magnesium thing as well, and didn't find anything serious and backed up. Maybe it's just as good as water-only. The mechanic friction from the bag might also play a limited role, but you could replace this with anything. This looks like another case of confirmation bias and people not actually knowing how water-only washing is efficient. Water-only washing is 75% efficient while regular detergent is 82.4%, which is a very small boost and only needed for very limited cases if you messed up your clothes hard. There is a very popular and pricey similar alternative, using ceramic pellets stored in a ball (white-label dropshipping, the most popular rebranding being "Gargoyles"). Everyone seems to enjoy them and believe in their experience, saying things like "It really works, I tried it". But the results show that efficience is just 75.9%, a mere 1% above water-only, probably due to the mechanic action of the ball. People just don't know how much water is efficient, and believe the results come from the useless thing they added to their laundry. Magnesium is different from ceramic though, so I sent an email to a magnesium brand (TerraWash) asking for scientific sources about their claims. I will let you know if I get any satisfying answer. @Samurai Matcha, maybe you could do a home test yourself to determine if the magnesium really works,. You can dirty identical clothes or rags with the same set of various stains (draw a circle around to see them easier after washing). Wash them in different ways (water-only, w/ magnesium, maybe also w/ detergent and w/ mechanical action like a washing ball if you want), and you will be able to compare the different results. If magnesium result is the same as water-only, then you don't even need it, and it's another step towards simplicity!
Yay! I am so glad you have the mag bag / items listed. I was looking for some & came to check. I am always looking for more natural ways ( other than vinegar) that I can use. Magnesium beads do not contain surfactants, necessary to breakdown and disengage organic matter from clothing fibers.
