    I waited awhile before bagging my chocolate that way they went back to a solid. I just set my trays out for a few hours with the lids on the trays that you get from harvest right. They work out perfectly that way.

    Three of the six candies I freeze dried a couple weeks ago came out great. The other three, not so much. The winners were the mini Charleston chews, skittles and milk duds. The milk duds were so addictive. I gave up sugar a couple years ago, so this was extraordinarily bad for me. I became so inflamed, particularly in the midsection. Lesson learned. My freeze dryer is in the garage and it does smell great even now. 😮

    Three musketeers worked great for me, but I cut them up first and pre-warmed my trays. They don't puff up much, but they puff a little and become nice and crunchy. I don't like regular 3 musketeers, but the crunch makes it great imo.

    My first time trying any kind of Chocolate, I’m assuming that in the beginning when it asks…if you want to warm the trays, you skip that and go right into drying?

    • @DIYfreezedry
      @DIYfreezedry  3 месяца назад +1

      Peanut Butter won’t freeze dry :/ so only kinds that have caramel inside them will work.

    How much time you need to wait before you put the food in the freezer dryer ? Because mine has no instructions

    • @DIYfreezedry
      @DIYfreezedry  3 месяца назад

      Once you turn it on and press "start" it counts down 15 minutes for a cool down period before you add in your candy / food.

    How long did it run for? Extra dry time? Do we do a warm trays up at the end?

    • @DIYfreezedry
      @DIYfreezedry  11 месяцев назад

      I ran it for 4 hours - and I did not warm trays at the end bc you want the chocolate to stay cool so it’s not melty when you pull them out 👍🏻

    With the same settings like you performed your process here I've tried the german Kinder Schoko-Bons but unfortunately the chocolate and the filling was just running away. Do you have any tips for those kind of products? Would it make sense to start with a freeze time before drying them?

    • @DIYfreezedry
      @DIYfreezedry  10 месяцев назад +1

      Are you using candy mode? Mine does the initial cool down for 15 minutes, then I select the candy mode button, it asks to warm the trays - then I think the next screen goes straight to vacuum drying! It may depend on the software your machine is currently running….

    Will the 5 trays somewhat limit the food you can freeze dry because will hit the top, or just cut in smaller pieces etc.

    • @DIYfreezedry
      @DIYfreezedry  11 месяцев назад +1

      I’m curious to find out I haven’t compared the shelf heights - the candy that expands probably would need to be cut smaller bc it already hits the top sometimes 😆

      I bought the 5 tray chamber (it was $350). You can switch them back and forth if you want to do anything like candy. As long as you don’t overfill the trays when doing regular food, the 5 tray chamber lets you do more in a batch.
