I don't think the guy's costume was right because I couldn't see any movement with his black costume and the black background.. Such a pity, but overall it was good.
It's ridiculous to have a black background on stages for these competitions in the first place! Many male costumes are traditionally dark---Basilio from Don Quixote is one, but there are many others. As you said, this excellent dancer is merely a disembodied head and ruffled white triangle at his throat, with flitting hands. Why not pale blue as a standard---or is that too much to ask?
