This song is one of my all-time favorites. I never get tired of listening to the Dire Straits recording. Covering it was a very tall order. What you have done here presents the song (beautifully I might add) in the context of the song, a great song. If I had never heard Sultans of Swing before now I'm pretty sure I'd be saying "What a great song!" Very tastefully presented and masterfully performed. Thanks.
My dad took his life early this year and this was a song he loved as we were growing up and I can’t listen to it anymore but you play it so beautifully and effortlessly, you are so talented, this is amazing. ❤️
This has been one of my favorite tunes over the past 30 + years and your rendition made the hair on my arms stand up, thanks Gabriella. I will listen to this post many more times :)
This is my favorite interpretation by her. She captures the essence of that song, almost every important note and especially the rhythmic texture. Quite amazing. She's got her low E string tuned to D also. Sometimes I wonder if this composition (or any modern rock songs played like this) were transported back to 1750 and played what people would have thought of it? Would they have gone crazy at how captivating the rhythm was or would they have been unable to assimilate it? Would it have been too radical? I don't think so.
What a great question. I often ask myself the same thing about a lot of modern/contemporary music. I tend to lean toward "unable to assimilate", but ya never know. Perhaps the general public of 1750 could not handle it, but the great composers of the time might have been intrigued at least.
It's never too late! I have the same feeling, but I already started 6 years ago with seriously painting and doing it right now (at 53) while listening to Gabriella's beautiful arrangements. ;-)

E X A C T ! ! !
After watching this, the thing that blew my mind even more than the playing of the song was the fact that I'm looking at 434 thumbs down on the rating. These 434 people simply have no appreciation for great music. You did an outstanding job Gabriella. As a player myself, it was thoroughly enjoying listening and watching. Thank you for posting this. Hope to see more.
Sadly, there will always be haters, unfortunately. I am in agreement with you, amazing!
Disregard those assholes
It's up to 562 now.

As a player yourself, surely you can see she’s not playing it here...... I assume that’s why the thumbs down.
@@jamesduffy6518 are they assholes or just musically/hearing impaired?
Beautiful version. Mark KNopfler, a Genius!
I'm speechless. This wonderful lady plays brilliantly and gave her own twist to the greatest rock and roll song ever. Also playing the vocals with the guitar, wow!!
I'm deeply impressed!!!
Thank you for the goosebumps and reviving memories of the beautiful music era of the 70/80s.
I'm speechless too, no way, it's impossible!
I've been following her for a while now and I noticed that a lot of people are very jealous of her so they put a thumbs down I think she is like wicked awesome guitarist I like to see her more often. I heard that Eddie Van Halen passed today.please do something from the master who went to a better place rest in peace 🙏 Ed
I'm very jealous, too. But a BIG thumbs up. I don't understand any thumbs down. No, I can't play that well. But that's on me. I have nothing but admiration for her.
August Darrow
I’d prefer to see her ACTUALLY play it, even if it had small mistakes, etc. sucks to see someone pretending.
When Gabriella looks up and smiles while she plays some of the most original covers, it makes me very happy. Edit: I just bought a Taylor 714ce so Taylor owes Gabriella some cash because that sucker was pricy. As far as Taylor know, she influenced me to buy it.
Ok perv
yes you are right; but most time she's dreaming:-)
Makes me wish I was half my age and living on her block...
@@staytight6340 Yeah a man liking an attractive woman is really perverted. 🙄
G is so good .. do good .. you will be see
Pure and clean. I've never heard her miss a note. Always played without mistakes...awesome guitarist. Love her music and arrangements.
She actually missed two toward the middle but who cares.. she is amazing
Шикарная аранжеровка! Ритм - супер! Класс! Настоящее произведение искусства! 👍🏿
So soothing watching her with her poised manners and incredible playing. Love her smile at the end Bravo!!!
Can't even describe the feeling : almost like floating weightless somewhere safe and peaceful. Brought back my childhood memories when my uncle used to listen to Dire Straits a lot. Thank you for your beautifully captivating arrangement and spreading good vibes ❤
Everything about this is absolutely hypnotizing.
I hope Mark Knopfler sees this and hears what you have done to his song. I would think he would be very proud. Well done yet again.
Every time I hear you play that guitar it sends chills down my spine. All I can say is, Wow!
i am 66 years old play also gitar and a bit piano bud this... . Nevermind the smiles this performend is natural and it is come out from your music heart . Nice great !! well done, go on !
No one can play like Mark in his best years! The girl for her work is worthy of respect.
competition...competition ...she got inspired by Mark and she did a great job
The best musicians let us hear notes they actually don't play. You are among them ! Thanks for sharing your talent !!
why would 2,700 people dislike this video? it’s completely harmless and peaceful and fantastic.
maybe cus they wanted the solo lol
I agree with your assessment of her playing.
Regarding your question?
Who f’ing cares?
Why would I possibly care what 2,700 people dislike?
I don’t seek external validations for my Ioves.
@@FlaschDJ there are people for everything. but the ones with good taste make up the most.
Unlike so many covers of this song you didn't try to be Mark Knopfler, you did your own thing. I love Mark Knopfler but I also appreciate when someone brings something new into a cover. If I wanted to hear Mark Knopfler I'd listen to Mark Knopfler. This is why in classical music a hundred people can play Beethoven and still do something new with it. Thank you
Well said.
don't classical musicians normally perform a piece exactly as it was written?
@@SadChimchar There's room for interpretation. Listen to the same Beethoven Sonata by two different artists and you will hear differences in interpretation.
Playing only the solo guitar would be very disappointing. This piece is characterised by a steady rythme along with the contrast of a cool guitar line. It is rather bluesy.
She didn't try to copy it because she's average at best and can't play the solo.
Unless you play guitar it is impossible to understand just how good she is. Unbelievably clean and intricate presentation of an already hard song.
The only things missing are Passion & Style. But an A for technical ability.
Nobody knows the trouble I've seen
@@richardfonger987 you can't learn guitar like that without passion ... tried that ...didn't got far =))
lol ok....
@@blakpower1995 SO TRUE!!!!!!!!!!
Is it just me or the maybe the best part of her playing is when she looks up and smiles. I could loop that part of the video all day. Beautiful!
It's just you. The best part is her guitar playing.
No it isn't hahaha. She's absolutely beautiful!
Yes jua.jua.jua la hice equivocar jua.jua.jua " the charly hasta risa le dio" esa piesa es siempre difil hasta se me olvido ji.ji.ji" el liche ho " the charly " jua.jua.jua"???
Эпично как обычно! И сладкая улыбка! 👏👏👏💐💐💐
Да и голосок у нее бархатный.
сладкая улыбка! 👏
Недавно на сайте, она ещё и поёт?
I could not imagine that this song can be played in finger style on one guitar only! Awesome!
Why not? Knopfler plays fingerstyle himself.
It's meant to be played fingerstyle, Mark Knopfler played it that way on the original, no plectrum. You should try some Mike Oldfield too.
Found this by accident rummaging through the world of RUclips. Absolutely wonderful. Two things....first off thank you for taking me away from stress and a crazy world for almost 6 minutes - I really appreciate that and secondly....I really love this song to begin with and you have just played my favorite rendition. You pay great honor to Dire Straits and show us all that you have remarkable talent. Well done
We can all take a break from this crazy world and find the joy in life.
“Sultans of swing”....yeah!
The definition of prodigy. Truly phenomenal.
Габриэлла, Вы человек с другой планеты👍👍👍 С огромной любовью из России🌹🌹🌹
Она просто чудо, я упал со стула))
I almost can't believe what I'm watching. This young lady is an absolute prodigy. I agree with all the comments below...Intricate, technical, clean, masterful, and beautiful. And I love that guitar.
Thanks.
Вооще умница, красавица, вертуозный талант. Храни тебя Бог!
It just doesn't get any better with a guitar producing a full band sound, and trueto the original, yet in your style. amazing.
I'm 70 years old & love this , thank you so much , you brightened my heart , so so well played , wow , thanks , moe
What a beautiful arrangement of this song. It amazes me how one guitarist can sound like 2 guitars. Very talented!
Chet Adkins could sound like three. But never as smooth and certainly not as pretty as Gabriella.
She even plays the bass!!
I was trying to figure out if there was a second guitar but it seems there is indeed only one. Chapeau!

Yet she makes it look disturbingly easy...beautiful!
O som do violão é fantástico. E Nas mãos de uma violonista como a Gabriela , fica mais espetacular ainda.
Спасибо, что ты есть!!!! Удивительный талант!!!!!
This has been one of my favorite tunes over the past 30 + years and your rendition made the hair on my arms stand up, thanks Gabriella. I will listen to this post many more times :)
Looking amazing by the way ;)
@@tinkeringinthailand8147 As always. Not to detract from her talent, but she is so, so beautiful.
I was back in my youth listening to this version of the masterpiece. Beautifully played.❤✌️
This arrangement is so creative and intricate Gabriella is a genius
Yes and pretty too. Brains, looks, and talent all in one beautiful package...
Это просто великолепие!!! Умница, талант. Только одно восхищение. Дай бог тебе счастья, удачи, гармонии и творческих успехов. 👍

Isn't she lovely and talented...Gabriella nails it and closes it with a smile. :D
She played it and my head provided the lyrics! Beautiful arrangement ❤❤❤Mark would be proud 🥲
I'm 60 years old and this is so beautiful it makes me want to pick up a guitar for the first time in my life.
HECK YEAH! So what are you waiting for? What do you have to lose?
It's never too late! I have the same feeling, but I already started 6 years ago with seriously painting and doing it right now (at 53) while listening to Gabriella's beautiful arrangements. ;-)
Like walking around in an arts museum (RUclips music videos), then suddenly a door opens to yet a new room that you haven’t noticed before.
The whole appearance is so adorable. Beautiful woman is playing breathtakingly beautiful music. And the video has full emphasizes on the music.
What is most fascinating for me here, is that I hear new facets of Knopfler’s masterpiece, after all these 40 years I have listened to it.
I've been having panic attacks the last two weeks (I think it's from the attrition of this pandemic); And this beautiful version of one of my favorite songs has just soothed my soul. Thank you so much for this.
Genia total .desde argentina Gabriela
Dont overthink a lie my friend. It's just the flu.
@@eugeneburton6878 I agree, but it's the attrition of so little contact with people and nowhere to go or nothing to do for so long. For me that's what is wearing on me (but I'm figuring out how to make it more tolerable).
Beautiful rendition and beautiful girl with a beautiful smile, life is good.
Mark Knopfler would be pleased to listen such a beatiful version of his masterpiece. If I could play the guitar with such technique, I would be proud and accomplished. Congratulations on the work and thank you by sharing your masterpiece. 👏👏👏👏
CESAR ANTONIO ZIPPIN FERRI you’re a personal friend of mark knopfler??
@@filthymcnastyazz hey, Phil. Unfortunatly not, despite of being a big fan of him.
As far as I know, he developed his fingering technique by initially studying classical guitar. That is why I believe that Gabriella’s version would bring him good memories and make him proud to see a great guitarrist puting so much work on one of his masterpieces.
Gabriella adds a beautiful mystique to dire straits' sultans of swing, her Spanish guitar sound makes for a more passionate feel to the music. I like that very much!
Very impressive, working all those solo licks in while arranging the rhythm in as well. Love how you play in SO MANY different tunings. It is almost like learning the guitar all over again when you first play in a new tuning.
