It's Guitar George's daughter clearly, because she knows all the chords.
Lol. I concur. Have a great day.
Mind you it’s strictly rhythm
She helped the Taylor a little bit to play that song.
😂😂😂😂😂
Underrated comment 😂
My dear girl, I am 60 years old and I want to thank you for this listening that really moved me. You went me back in time. In my youth. Thank you again. God bless you.
I guess this songs gotta be a banger back in the 80’s
@@hathaway.1166 My time. My Music. I'm from 1958 :-)
@@hathaway.1166 Close to 1978 if I remember correctly. I was a high school student
I have also just turned 60, and fully agree with every one of your sentiments. This girls rendition is superb and evokes many many good memories of my youth.
Its remind me in my 60' old age... a nice and well maked " chillo", from India. It blow my head away. Nice memories. Today I enjoy a nice green, very green tea. Wonderfull music young lady.
Nothing better than a beautiful woman playing a beautiful song...
I've listened to all of Gabriella's work--multiple times--but this one absolutely blows the lid off what an acoustic should sound like. Knopfler would cheer this one
At 71, there aren't many things in life that I treasure anymore, but this little lady makes me love it that I have clear sight and sound! Those little smiles and eye twinkles make my heart sing!!!
you can say that again brother bob
Copy that. 😂
Well said
Bobby Vee, there was a famous American Singer/Songwriter with the same name! Anyway, I agree with your comment 110%.
I'm 72
I've been playing guitar for 60 years and can still only wish I could play like this. There is literally no one else on the entire planet I would rather sit and listen to; to these unique arrangements for hours, and watch Gabriella's amazing technique, incredibly relaxed and flawless execution, and then the icing on the cake, that beautiful, modest smile that projects the sentiment "I hope you enjoyed listening to this as much as I enjoy playing it for you"! This talent is a true gift.
So you wouldn't want to hear Mark Knophler play it? That's really sad.
@@lquinn7212 well, I wasn’t referring to one song. I memorized every note Mark Knoffler played in that song and have been playing it for over 20 years. I just meant in general, no one else has this kind of diversity and insight in the world of finger style guitar.
She could play rap and I would watch
God bless you
Talent is when a musician takes a popular song but instead of copying the style of the original puts her own spin on it and it’s a whole new experience. Well done!
I hope Mark Knopfler sees this and hears what you have done to his song. I would think he would be very proud. Well done yet again.
Every once in a while you'll be scrolling through RUclips and come across a wonderful talent like Gabriella and you realize that life just got better :) Thank you for that young lady
Muito bom
The fact that she waited so long to do such a famous song shows how much she cares about the quality of what she puts out for us ! amazing work as always !
@DMO_Enterprises How miserable is your life that you can only derive pleasure from insulting people who are far more talented than you will ever be?
@DMO_Enterprises Booo
This is REAL talent: I could listen to this all day.
I have been listening to it for 4 years!
I'm better
Me too.
I do.
sophie lloyd is the same with electric- writing the vocals into her scores like gabby
Is it just me or the maybe the best part of her playing is when she looks up and smiles. I could loop that part of the video all day. Beautiful!
It's just you. The best part is her guitar playing.
No it isn't hahaha. She's absolutely beautiful!
Yes jua.jua.jua la hice equivocar jua.jua.jua " the charly hasta risa le dio" esa piesa es siempre difil hasta se me olvido ji.ji.ji" el liche ho " the charly " jua.jua.jua"???
My eyes and ears are old, but when she interprets a piece of music I have enjoyed for years my heart feels the years lift away.
I'm ancient and by god she is easy on the eyes. But talented? Incalculable....
She plays this song better than the ones who created it 🤟
OH, the same here. She did an absolutely fantastic job. In fact, it's the BEST one i've seen, by FAR too...!!!
When singing is not present a lot of listeners do not understand how complex it is to incorporate all the aspects of composition never mind that you are doing the licks, the bass part, harmony and melody all by yourself . OUTSTANDING!
FKN TRUE
@@Greentim67 U
Yep, it takes three people to play this - where are the other two?
Funny, I was just trying to explain this to someone else just yesterday about some of the piano videos that do the same where they play all parts with one instrument. Unless a person plays an instrument and has tried it for themselves, it's really difficult to understand the complexity of it. Super impressive!
Complex indeed. Amazing.
Intricate. Clean. Makes you want to listen to all of her repertoire. So addictive
I have heard this song covered so many times, but never have I heard it done any better than this. Bravo!
OMG absolute brilliance 👏👏
As a musician who has been playing this song in cover bands for the past 20+ years, this is the best solo guitar cover I've ever heard of it. Wonderful arrangement. Bravo!!
Well then check out 18 year old Jasmine Star doing it. She will make you cry.
@@diggerthegroundhog8799 I checked her out - nope, sorry, technically good but not as musical.
@@diggerthegroundhog8799 I also feel like the other one is "technically" better... But this is leagues has leagues more emotion and restraint. Like everything note in this version is given it's own room to breathe in the most beautiful way... That bend she did at the beginning around :20 in, it just has such a profound effect on your ear... And the phrasing and how long she held it... And this whole version is FULL of those kinds of moments of musicality, restraint, and articulation. It might even articulate many of the notes better than the original version did (And this is coming from a HUGE Knopfler fan). This is flawless.
@@adamavery3906 Well said and very much agree. What people don't realize is that she's *arranging* these songs, not just mastering a tab. It's simply incredible the level of her talent, and she just casually looks at the camera as she plays like everyone can do what she's doing. I've been playing for nearly 40 years. I can't do that.
Brother. Are you serious right now?:P
“Tuning: D A D F A D (low to high)” Thank you dear! The reverb sound is a breathtaking one!
A very bold thing to claim to post as an acoustic cover. Beautifully done.
The definition of prodigy. Truly phenomenal.
Absolutely brilliant. I can't imagine how long it took to come up with that arrangement. That's brilliant on it's own..
142 minutes.
As someone who grew up on this music and knows it very well, I am very impressed with this. I am so glad the young generation is taking a liking to the classics.
Worst is I know this band from my father who asked me to find it on Napster (and I'm not young)
Gotta respect the classics, especially an exquisite piece like Sultans of Swing.
I was doing yard work with my son [26] , listening to music on his phone.
His songlist includes Ella Fitzgerald.
I knew then I'd raised him right.
That's because it's where the impressarios were, Doc - these days., they're just pale imitations....
This is a masterpiece.
Its one of he best instrumental tunes I've hear. It's amazing how so many tune ranges are being played in synchrony to make beautiful music. 😃 👏
For us oldies who remember this hitting the music scene this is extra special. Brilliant - no other words required. Gabriella -we have a new nickname for you “Sultana”.
Harry doesn't mind................
Rando'thol ...apparently he’s got a daytime job..?
@@buffplums : and he's doin' alright.
Jacks P : He can play the Honky Tonk like anything...
Gabriella 'Sultana' Quevedo? Cool
Some people don't understand fingerstyle playing is a combination of the melody and lyrics arranged by this artist as their interpretation and not an attempt to 'cover' it. Notice how she isn't afraid to change up the tempo in places to emphasize a part. Gabriella is a world class, world respected finger style artist not to mention a joy to mankind.
To be clear, Mark Knopfler also played “fingerstyle”, it’s not just for combining lyric melody to the song.
That being said, this was beautiful, but I wish she didn’t use so much reverb.
Know that you are right.
@@LexanderMiller Right, a bit too much of reverb and sorta brand new Elixir strings overvibrating. But great anyway and a matter of taste.
Love their stairway to heaven
Dark, mysterious, with some flamenco sprinkled in. Total guitar mastery
Time and time again you bring to us solid performances. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us.
She definitely knows all the chords
And she makes it cry and sing...
Underrated comment, should be on the top.
The perfectionist in me died a little after watching this and noticing the 5m views. We are 'jerks' if we call this for what is, but when you post mediocre music or performances, it's harder to find the people who take more time to practice so they can nail a performance before posting it. This is the generation that looks for pats on the back when only half way there. It was ok. Better than I can do, but not good for a RUclips post. That's still at playing for family and friends level. I love that song and of course want people to do it justice. It's not about hating, it's about loving the music so much, you want other people to share in it and maybe share in the respect for it too.
@@ericryckman1559 So... you thought Gabriella gave a mediocre performance? If I may ask, what did you think was not done very well? I'm asking not because I think you're out of line or a jerk, but rather because I honestly want your opinion.
Personally, I think it has so many views because this performance is very good for different reasons than performance perfection. I rather like the way she arranged it so the melody is interwoven with the rhythm, which she has to play together on the same guitar. Also, the arrangement is very lovely and pleasing, showing creativity in a way that departs from the original as a cover while still obviously being respectful towards the original (not easy to do). Finally, she switches up the tempo at times to provide variety and emphasis. I think she shows musicality; it seems she is aware that she's giving a performance and wants to entertain us, not simply get a pat on the back for posting something.
@@ericryckman1559 feel free to drop your own version of you playing this song. we'd love to hear it.
I can't believe she can play so clean; incorporating the rhythm, the melody, and the lead guitar - and then adding to that her own unique style/improvised touches. Very impressed.
dont forget about the solo hahah
@@Eltondrknss Yeah man, that was my favorite part, with those bends, fantastic.
Yes, but "not in my tempo"... especially after 4:00
@Otie Jason it's also called extreme level of talent.
"Sultans of Swing" is so great that even my easy piano cover sounds good, ... but of course, what Gabriella does is more than good, is wonderful!!! 👏👏👏👏
This is my favourite Dire Straits song. And you played it beautifully. A fantastic and excellent arrangement. Thank you and well done. You are super talented! 🙏🏼💖🙌🏼👌🏼
This is EXACTLY WHY I love the sound of a guitar! You can do practically anything with it if you have the right talent and equipment! This young lady has mastered this song in her own way and it's just too cool!!!
Easily some of the best guitar playing I’ve ever heard. Such a unique style
Still reminds me of the first time I heard this in '78. One year into my career going to the control room on the dreaded midnight to eight am shift. First song I heard on the radio when the crew before me left. Wow, heard it again around 7: 30 am. Blew me away!. Now, your version is in my head, I just Love listening to you play Gabriella🌹
Que lindo! Não canso de ouvir. Parabéns!
Love how she just takes her time with this...never rushed...at all.
Yeah one thing I've noticed is that her timing is really excellent.
It’s easier to play this slow
Well, if you play along with her you notice her tempo is off in some parts. Slower because she has not practiced it as much as the returning parts of the song. Doesn't matter though... I prefer a bit of a tempo mess over a strict tempo. I play this piece with a capo on 5th and when you pan them a bit left/right it makes for a really enjoyable guitar duet due to the different voicing. Must have played it 6 or 7 times through in a row.
@Kei M: By the way, it is actually harder to play this slow. If you go fast, you can omit a lot of nuances...when you go slower every detail counts and stands out.
Suit me better with 1.25 playback speed on youtube.😀
yea...not quite my tempo. lol
I've never heard this song played acoustically the way it was played by Gabriella. Phenomenal!
The mic sound and the way you hit the chords and leads and make it sound so peaceful YET... it's such a great groove of a song it's amazing.
Gabriella came up on a suggested video feed being that I am learning how to play different songs as a novice guitar player and a drummer, but my strength is in singing. I was floored at Gabriella playing this song!
Sad day today after Eddie Van Halen's passing yesterday October 6th. I must say listening to this whole song took me out of a somber mood. Eddie's influences on us all shine on. Great work Gabriella!!! I wish you could play this for Mark Knopfler. I believe he would be flattered.
Beautiful arrangement. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to listening to more of your work.
Nice soothing music and calming scenery, thank you for sharing, and have a great day
Masterful arrangement. Love the bends, hammer-ons, slides, tapping..., all played with skill, syle, and perfection. Love it, Gabriella. Love the sweater too.
Thank you!😃
Fred Anderson Exactly what Fred said. Even the fret noise is musical.
Gabriella play with a Taylor 714 CE ? 814 CE or other 🤔
did you use a alternate or open tuning?

Increíble! Que belleza de arreglo! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Unlike so many covers of this song you didn't try to be Mark Knopfler, you did your own thing. I love Mark Knopfler but I also appreciate when someone brings something new into a cover. If I wanted to hear Mark Knopfler I'd listen to Mark Knopfler. This is why in classical music a hundred people can play Beethoven and still do something new with it. Thank you
Well said.
don't classical musicians normally perform a piece exactly as it was written?
@@SadChimchar There's room for interpretation. Listen to the same Beethoven Sonata by two different artists and you will hear differences in interpretation.
Playing only the solo guitar would be very disappointing. This piece is characterised by a steady rythme along with the contrast of a cool guitar line. It is rather bluesy.
She didn't try to copy it because she's average at best and can't play the solo.
I play and sing this song regularly in public, but now, frankly, I'm listening with my mouth wide open. You put so much feeling, poetry and lyricism into it that it almost makes me cry. It's just beautiful the way you play this song, it's Knopfler full of romanticism, Gabriella way. This title comes back to life and it is the most original version that I have heard on Utube to date. You are a little gem of talent and again well done.
Beautifull !!! 🙌
Pure magic…..what a beautiful talent and gift. And she is so graceful and confident. I could listen and watch over and over and over❤
When a musician is as subtle as powerful, it can't get any better. And mastering those two opposite sides of music is the hardest thing to accomplish.
Millions of bravos... with just a few notes (and thousands of hours of practice), you've got yourself millions of fans ! And a truly deserved admiration.
I've been following her for a while now and I noticed that a lot of people are very jealous of her so they put a thumbs down I think she is like wicked awesome guitarist I like to see her more often. I heard that Eddie Van Halen passed today.please do something from the master who went to a better place rest in peace 🙏 Ed
I'm very jealous, too. But a BIG thumbs up. I don't understand any thumbs down. No, I can't play that well. But that's on me. I have nothing but admiration for her.

I’d prefer to see her ACTUALLY play it, even if it had small mistakes, etc. sucks to see someone pretending.

I love the fact that she gives us the tabs & tuning like we’re supposed to be able to play this outstanding cover
why do you think it already has 2+ million views? Surely some people have tried to watc 100x to try and play how she plays LOL
I've always loved Dire Straits and Gabriella's rendition only deepens that love. An incredibly beautiful arrangement and, even as a non-musician, I can appreciate the skill and dedication it takes to play at this level.
From Glasgow. Wee Gabby. I dinna ken if I've commented on this vid before. Since the 70's I've played this song all over the UK and some in the states. This is spectacularly gorgeous. Just lovely. Thank you ! 🍀🎸🍀

Who the heck would give this a thumbs down. Oh! All the jealous people who can’t do anything in life. That’s who. Play on sister. You rock!
@Leide Keine Dummköpfe Much better than you'll ever be, lol
It's kind of mediocre. That's why.
@Leide Keine Dummköpfe this is definitely not terrible. If you can play better with a broken wrist I would have heard of you by now. I haven't.
@Leide Keine Dummköpfe I know that there are guitarists with better technique out there... but she isn’t bad/average by any means, even if her technique is “bad” she manages to give it the musical feel so I’m not sure what the problem is
I challenge all the haters to do anything that compares!
Габриэлла, Вы человек с другой планеты👍👍👍 С огромной любовью из России🌹🌹🌹
Such timing, precision, and technical mastery of the guitar's fretboard are rare. On a box guitar with steel strings, the finger strength it takes to hold and switch between those complex chords is daunting, yet Ms. Gabriella makes it look easy. Wow, Mark Knoffler's classic guitar anthem never sounded so good.
Absolutely amazing! and awesome! beautiful!
Beautiful version. Mark KNopfler, a Genius!
The first time I heard this (on Dire Straits radio) I was stunned. I immediately ran to my phone and took a screenshot, so I could look up the artist later. I can’t explain how deeply this touches me. ❤️

Incredible guitar playing. I love how she plays. Her playing draws you in to the song and keeps you there.
Lindíssimo. Maravilhoso. Parabéns menina.🥰
Making an already more difficult song into a fingerstyle arrangement? INCREDIBLE!!! God bless you!
It's already fingerstyle, Knopfler is a fingerpicker.
@@simonsmith3060 She plays the melody, bass line and the accompaniment all at once. She even keeps the acompaniment and bass line going while simultaneously playing the guitar solo on top of that. Knopfler doesn't do that! He is a fingerpicker but he doesn't do much of it in this song...Not like in his AMAZING Romeo and Juliet.
She plays like Tommy Emmanuel
