    When we do cereal bars we actually mash bananas and mix that with the cereal and that works wonderfully as a glue. We still add milk to filling all the cracks and crevices

    That's a great idea! I don't generally eat cereal, but it'll be a great addition to my meal prep for work! (I like to always mention that I work 48 hour shifts, so meal prep is a challenge)

    Two questions: 1. Would it work better (thinking of the brownie crunch one) to put the dividers in the tray first and then just fill each section? 2. What kind of milk was the chocolate milk? I dried some dark chocolate almond silk last summer. It was a big hit and the family likes to sprinkle over the top of things.

      With bigger morsels it may be easier to place dividers first. I think we used a chocolate oat milk

    I have been making these for months using Magic Spoon cereal, which is high protein, gf and sugar free. I have used whole milk, oatmilk and coconut milk. So far, i have only eaten them dry. But, i have been doing it the hard way, freezing in molds first. Why didn't i think to use my dividers? 😂 And i never thought of adding fruit - brilliant. Can't wait to make my next batch using your tips - thanks!

    This is a great idea! I wonder if I could use healthier ingredients (I have a disability that makes it dangerous for me to eat added sugars. I get seizures 😢). I'll try this with both rolled and steel cut oats with some fresh berries for some sweetness, and maybe throw in some p2. If it works, I'll post the recipe and directions under this comment

      I make an oatmeal with apple cinnamon bar that's pretty awesome for someone that has dietary requirements.
      If you add some dividers and still follow this recipe in the video, they will result a similar product

    Thank you for the info you provide. I'm wondering if there another level to freeze drying. Like making layered cookies, snacks, etc that can rival the snack bars in stores. Have you experimented with proteins like gelatin, mussel foot, for bonding foods and layers together? Dry, rehydrate using different flavors and re-freeze dry?

      Not really with layering, but I have used gelatin, yogurt and others to add to recipes for bonding.

    Can you give some info about storage longevity? Examples; how long they stay fresh in Tupperware type counter storage, vacuum sealed, and frozen. Thanks!

      If just storing in a zipper bag or Tupperware, they will probably be ok for a couple weeks. However, there are about 1000 variables to that. If you are using g cow milk, you really need to make sure they are not rehydrating.

    This is interesting. Would something like half and half, or cream, work for this?

      The higher fat milks will freeze dry, but there will be an oily layer on the outside. You may not experience when mixing with cereal bars, especially if you allow them to soak into the bars. When I have done those mills and creams alone, that was my experience.

    You may have mentioned this. But, can we use raw milk?

      I don't have direct experience freeze drying raw milk. Even if high fat, if it's mixed in with something it should freeze dry ok. With that said, be mindful of storage and the time before consuming.
