    You’re making the kendama tutorials that are truly the most useful for people wanting to expand their trick arsenal

      Hey there I’m a high school sewing teacher, and I think it’s really cool that you made your very own pill in your woodshop class. I’m curious to know… what did your woodworking teacher think of it. Ⓜ️ary PS - I’d be stoked about it too.

    Thanks for this it really helped me out with lighthouses, you should do another in depth video like this for Lunars I've been having a really hard time with those. Appreciate it man cheers!

      Something similar for lunars is a solid idea, I'll definitely add it to the list because they're pretty strange to learn. Honestly my inward lunar game is still pretty weak so who knows when it'll be lmao. Cheers dude and enjoy those lightys!

    Thanks for this video, I'm really working on the 1 turn lighthouse bit struggling with the flip, I can't get it consistent at all! Have watched alot of tutorial but guess I just need to keep working on it!

    • @mediochrist
      @mediochrist  2 года назад +1

      Yep the 1 turn is tough to get down. One tip might be to make sure the Ken is always positioned and swinging the same way when you go for the pull up, to make the results more consistent. Other than that just practice practice practice the technique and try to meet the Ken when it's upright!

    Whist I have seen a few West Coast lighthouses in my time, I am by no means a lighthouse expert of any kind (oof, I’m such a poet!). Moving beyond today’s poetry sesh… when it comes to anything related to kendama, be it grip or landing, etc I always pretend that the ken and the tama are made from glass. Somehow this glassy mindset seems to increase softness for me. I share this tip with others when they are first learning, and they say it’s very helpful when getting the feel of kendama. Speaking of tips… I love that we have been treated to a “Bonus Tip” in today’s vid. More bonus tips please, and also how ‘bout an update on Frank sometime soon? What has he been up to? Inquiring minds want to know. Gonna go work on my lighthouse repertoire now (it’s a very limited repertoire atm!!). Ⓜ️ary

    • @mediochrist
      @mediochrist  2 года назад +1

      The glass mindset is actually a perfect tip for understanding the gentle touch required, I might start using that! Frank is existing nicely, plenty of ideas for him but I guess they keep getting pushed back behind whatever I feel like making at the time lol. Maybe a cameo in a vid that I want to do soon!

    I am so bad at swing ups. Practice, practice, practice. Ive got the basics down, and can now lighthouse & bird in while pulling up. I can swing up spike, but it just feels so unatural getting the muscle memory of the swing up. Watching myself on video helps, but i need a ken buddy to slay witb and motivate me and can show me in persom what im doing wronf

    • @mediochrist
      @mediochrist  2 года назад

      Yea it'll come into muscle memory for sure. To get it going I'd say make sure you're always practicing with the same string length, and then even try to swing up to big cup and land with the bevel towards you before you practice getting right to spike. But like you said, practice and time is key😅

      The one in the video is the older Zack Gallagher pro model from Sweets kendamas! He has a new pro mod now so I'm not sure if this one is still purchasable but you can take a peek👀
