The guy is a legend. I am following his posts and I've been pleasantly surprised by his understanding of the whole situation and the sense of what's right and what's timely even though I know how amazing Lithuanians are. I wish there were more politicians like Gabrielius in the European Union.
Landsbergis was supposed to become the member of European Commission from Lithuania, but our president and parliament blocked it. Things are not as rosy as they seem, unfortunately. We are very likely to be getting less and less of politicians like him in Europe, and more pro-russian, anti-democratic, post-truth populists. Way more.
What is there to understand? Lies, brutality, like of morals, and fear tactics. All of that baseness gilded by luxury. If you know how mafia operates then you know how Kremlin operates.
However through the several YT podcasts by Russiains, both in & outside of Russia. Including interviews of Russians in Russia. And the documented history of Russia. We all can understand a lot about the Russian mind set. And, it's not good.
As a Lithuanian I feel very torn about this acknowledgement. The reason is that this man is last or close to that in the public confidence rankings as of November 2024, which means that Lithuania hates him. Our president Nausėda despises this man and our parliamentary elections campaign was pretty much about who's gonna criticise the party this man led more, that's it. The ones who denegrated this man and his colleagues the most, won big. I personally find him the best politician of the past parliamentary cycle and the party he led, despite me having many disagreement with them, did a brilliant job, all things considered. But thing is, Lithuania, despite our insane democratic and economic progress since the nineties, is full of ressentiment, even among young people, and Landsbergis and people like him, the party he led are the scapegoats. Furthermore, we are highly susceptible to post-truth populism. Democracy is fracturing all over the Western world due to the same reason. Situation in Lithuania is not as bad as in some other democratic (or formerly democratic - like Hungary) Western states, but it's pretty bad, to be frank.
Wonderful Christmas conversation, thank you so much! Gabrielius is awesome - hopefully, he sticks around in the A league of politics, he is so needed. He needs to continue to fight.
Among all the often weak democratic politicians, Mr #Landsbergis was a beacon of decency, clear reasoning and determination - the kind of politicians we miss so much in the West. I hope we will hear from Landsbergis again and again. My hope rests on the great Baltic states.

Some people are still living in the past world empire. They need to mature. In the multipolar world, strength comes from trade and commodities. This is why the old empire is dying in the face of China+Russia.
China, Russia and a growing number of fellow BRICS countries represent a newly emerging multipolar world order that already has greater GDP/PPP than the G7 countries combined; consequently future U.S. administrations will need to accept that any U.S. aspiration of global economic and military pre-eminence is no longer achievable. Moreover, the only way that America can now mitigate it's diminishing international influence, is by accepting and participating in the emerging multipolar world order; preferably as a leading nation state among equals.
What can NATO do to make the social contract of those countries which are lagging behind agree to 5% spent on defence? Why not layer the defence your percentage covers, eg 1% will provide a lot less support in terms of weapons and equipment than 2%, 3% and so on, and only the full agreed percentage goal will provide troops etc. Isn’t that how insurance cover operates?
@@SiliconCurtain Not even you belive that. What will you say when 18-25 are send to grinder? Ukraine have no chance to military win, but you keep pushing it. Why?
As a Ukrainian, I say no. For centuries they've been creating this myth of “underdeveloped, helpless little Russians” to keep us in check, but they've long since become victims of their own product and have ultimately unlearned to take us seriously. That's where “Kyiv in 3 days” stems from. But this policy of theirs pertains not only to Ukrainians. They think this derogatorily of every people they ever conquered. Including those still in Russia. Example: they tend to make fun of Chukchi people because they've long forgotten how they couldn't conquer these fierce warriors for 150 years.
A lot of Americans don't really know what Mexicans are like. Big nations have their own worlds and live in their own ideas. Britain was like that, too, when it was an empire (still is a bit).
At the end of 22 you should have negotiated that was your best time to negotiate with Russia and now that is not going to happen now what will happen is you are going to lose 4 states and Crimea look it's time to take your emotions out of it and save something of Ukraine 🇺🇦
RU is an uncivilized entity which WILL be contained OR there will be no world economy of any real type bcuz the western economies will struggle. Keep in mind that the developing world and CRINK/BRICS is still entirely dependant on western co's for the high level engineering and other services and products. So good luck on your own! lol!
What i got out of this is that Russia checked NATO imperialism and is ready to fight NATO if needed. NATO front ended by Ukraine has lost and doesnt know how to react

That’s just a straight up lie. Brics nations are about 50% of population and 27% of gdp. It’s a collection of failed or failing states.
Who are you kidding? 😂😂
And Russia don't know Ukrainians? Hilarious.
Russia barely knows itself - and does not understand Ukrainians.
The most colonial nation on earth🤡giving perspective on the Soviets
A bunch of shills for Victoria Nulland Band

RU is an uncivilized entity which WILL be contained OR there will be no world economy of any real type bcuz the western economies will struggle. Keep in mind that the developing world and CRINK/BRICS is still entirely dependant on western co's for the high level engineering and other services and products. So good luck on your own! lol!
🙄🥱@@18_rabbit
What i got out of this is that Russia checked NATO imperialism and is ready to fight NATO if needed. NATO front ended by Ukraine has lost and doesnt know how to react
