I've lived in Knoxville my whole life and have never heard of this place. I just googled it, and it's less than 15 min from my house? Man I wish I had gone there as a kid it looks amazing
Idk if they still do it or not but when I went on field trips to Safety City as a kid they also taught us about fire safety and when to call emergency services for different emergencies, great place for a family day!
I remember going there and getting to drive their little motorized cars around along with the bikes. It used to be such a fun field trip. They also taught you how to call 911 to report an emergency if you were scheduled for a field trip and they also helped teach you how to escape a burning building a couple different ways
Unfortunately as a kid I never got to experience this except for controlled field trips there. Those were still fun and it’s really nostalgic to see this video with the exact places I went, it’s awakening memories I barely knew I still had
Wait , that little town is an actual park, whoa how cool is that . Shoot when I was growing up my buddy and myself would be bike riding almost all day .
I remember going there in 2nd grade and then having to learn how to get out of a burning building and then eating a jelly sandwich for lunch. There was a lady that was so patient with me when I was learning to ride a bike
I am from here and have never heard of this must be within the past 10 yrs built. What fun for children wished it was around when I was a child born 1971. We just had normal parks in k-town. Thanks for sharing you make a local born and bred Knoxvillian learn something new in her town🤗
The Local Police Department does a lot of stuff there too, especially their Explorer Program. I did it in Highschool to get Community Service and such, and it was always interesting interacting with the people there. Added another layer for people to interact with.
Be sure to check and see if it open to the public when you plan on going. I think it is only open to the public in the summer and select events because the schools in the area use it for field trips during the school year. Love the place and so do the kids. It's especially nice during the Christmas event when all the lights are up.
No way and its all free thats so awsome its a whole mini town i remember as a child imagining mini stores car washes supermarkets thats so cool my childhood dream.❤❤❤
Ahhh nostalgia, went here in third grade for field trip. Lived abt 15 mins away from there. Hated it tho bc the getting out of the house that has a “fire” in it example/procedure scared the poop outta me and I wouldn’t sleep until my parents bought a fire extinguisher
I live in Knoxville and have never heard of this. Great idea not just as a unique park but also as a great place to teach kids about safety rules. I realize it would not be allowed but I can't tell you how bad I want to ride my ATV there!!!
We went here for a field trip when I was in second grade because I grew up 30 minutes west of Knoxville and some days they’ll bring out mini go karts and let you act like you’re driving a real car
If only we had sidewalks, crosswalks, pedestrian bridges and bike lanes through the rest of town. I love Knoxville but the lack of infrastructure to keep pedestrians safe drives me nuts.
What happened to the gokarts? I remember once when i was there i tried so hard to do a burn out in 1 until finally i did it for like 1 second and i was scared straight
We always went on field trips there
