I love your ironic sense of humour while covering many juicy facts from that crazy year 💜 To me, a Dutch song is also the most enchanting and deserving a win as a very original proposal 💛
Loved seeing the competition in colour for the first time and of course I loved both the Portuguese and Finnish entries that year (my 2 favourite nations over the years), for having something that could only be their entries. The poor presenter must have had a breakdown at the end of the competition. Actually love all 4 of the winners, with Netherlands and France being my particular favourites, but after a few drinks I would be belting out the UK and Spanish songs as well. Loving your videos as always, keep up the good work.
Loved Salomé's energy in performing Viva Cantando, but De Troubadour en Un Jour, Un Enfant are beautiful songs. I agree with Lulu about Boom Bang A Bang 🙃
I really enjoy the resume of the shows by year . I’ve seen most of the full shows but really like your commentary on them . Please do some more soon . Keep up the good work!
Out of the four winners, my favourite has to be “De troubadour”. When I first heard it in one of those videos of all the Eurovision winners I immediately got a liking to it.
I find it almost unbelievable that they didn't have a tiebreaker rule by that time, when the contest was already more than 10 years old. I feel actually a bit sorry for the hosts and hostesses of those earlier times, they often had to manage a considerable chaos there on the stage. From the winners, I like almost equally France, the Netherlands and Spain. Don't care that much about UK's song tbh. My overall favourite is probably Spain, I love the catchiness of Vivo cantando and Salomé's energetic performance 😊. Especially from this year and onward there are quite many Eurovision songs that I remember from my childhood in 80s, actually covers of them which were often playing in the radio. From this particular year, for example Kun silloin ennen, Primaballerina and Catherine. Of course, they were oldies even by that time.
This is still one of my favorite contests, not just cause it’s the only one that was held in my country, but the songs were all just so good. I think Portugal should have been one of the winners, Paola should have won in 1980 and Laurita is such a sweet and wonderful host
I strangely love Boom Bang a Bang! It is still with that Swinging Sixties vibe, Lulu is a super performer and the song is cute, very good harmonies with the back up singers when they sing "it's such a lovely feeling" in the chorus. And the "olé" in the end! But I totally agree with you that De Troubadour ia a standout. It is a Jacques Brel type of song that Lenny Kuhr performed with such passion and engagement... It would have been a very worthy single winner that would have been a standout in the list of ESC winners. For Spain ghe song is cute and the outfit is legendary! And I see you did not talk about Due grosse lacrime, the Italian entry, it was quite nice too! The singer competed again at San Remo in 2022!
And here we see my all time Eurovision favourite song, the one song that i will never get bored with, the one song i will never listen to it without whispering it, and the one song that will always awaken nostalgia in my soul: Lenny Kuhr - De Troubadour. ❤
I love your year analysis! So full of delicious curiosities! I've just one question, when was the other edition organized in a country under a dictatorship? Thanks!
It was a very special year with so many good songs that last till today. France and The Netherlands were magnificents. Portugal had also a good song with an exceptional singer! Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Monaco are simply lovely, all very diferent, all very good. Thank you for your expectional work. Thank you very much!
Watching your video in between our general election debates as a palate cleanser...so big thanks for your timing, it is just right😊 My fave of this year is France, The Troubadour has very good lyrics and a nice melody but Lenny Kuhr's singing style is just not my cup of tea, but of the 4 winners France and The Netherlands are the best imo. I don't really like Boom bang a bang, the lyrics are quite sort of seductive? but sung in such a childlike manner it rubs me the wrong way. I don't like Spain that much, sorry! And I actually thought Italy was rather charming, not a winner but it should've gotten higher marks I think. Portugal was good aswell...ballsy too to critisize the dictator even it is very subtle. So good for her.
@@eurovisionhistories Next wednesay, the 22nd. We're headed for a very conservative right wing government as it seems now, so apologies in advance to the rest of Europe. It wasn't me!
"it's probably art" 🤣🤣🤣 that line killed me, i had to pause. 🤣🤣🤣
I love how the Spanish commentator says Boom Bada Bam for the UK entry 😉

I am in love with Finland's entry this year!
Sorry for the snarky comment then 😅

Were they Estonian covers?
And yesss I don't know why they didn't think it was gonna happen. I mean there were a few close contests before

Yes I did record something about Italy but maybe I cut it out by mistake 😭
i will NOT!! stand for this bonjour bonjour slander ...
I guess you forgot to mention Italy. Their song was a really good but underrated ballad🥲
Yeah sorry. Didn't find that many fun facts and I don't mention all the songs
I hope you'll continue to make these videos, they're great!
I will! Probably after Eurovision ;)

Well this might be controversial but Zagreb in 1990, Baku in 2012 and maybe Moscow in 2009
And thanks for watching them!

In so many ways 1969 resembles 2024.
pls do more
I’ll say UK is my #1 favorite, Netherlands #2 and Spain #3. France I say is a bit plain and bland compare to the others

Pour one out for the people that don't have any of the 4 winners as their personal winner
Who is yours?
@eurovisionhistories I go between UK, Spain and Switzerland
Do 1974 next pls I want to see ABBA
I'm trying to do the videos in chronological order ;) 1956-1969 is up. So 1974 isn't far ;)
Craziest voting sequence ever but no block voting alerts?😂
Not really ;)
Can you do a review of Eurovision 1973?
I'm doing them chronologically so next up is 1970 and 1973 isn't far away either 🤗
@@eurovisionhistories oh, in 1970 can you talk about the girl from Monaco that looks 75 years old but was actually 18/20 years old?
@TeletubbiesClips I say something very close to that hahaha

Körberg is actually pronounced like "Schörberg", which really makes no sense so I don't blame you
When editing and after having Kötbulla at Ikea I thought... Aaargh
and here it begins Portugal's unfair results at eurovision
Sorry but what's the tie breaker rule now?
Whoever gets the points from most countries
Which was your favorite in 1969?
France followed closely by Netherlands.
Desfolhada Portugesa for sure
Netherlands💙
France ❤
De Troubadour, then Vivo Cantando, then Maman, Maman
