Great Job so far of Charlie. Cross my Fingers but hard to believe that this will last untill the finish line. Otherwise he has to Cover Rod Steward: "Some guys have all the luck"😂😂😂😂
I dont think so , i think out of the front pack , all pushing hard racing eachother " There can be only one 🗡" Highlander, who does not sustain some kind of speed Inhibiting damage
Unless some disaster strikes à la Louis/Sebastien or an unfortunate weather pattern arises that will slow him down for many days, I can now safely say Charlie has this VG in the bag. His new yacht is very fast. Perhaps not the fastest in all conditions but combined with his unsurpassed skill in handling a sailboat and charting optimal routes through the Southern Ocean, I don't foresee anyone catching him.
Im very much intrigued by the autopilots. Could you please at some date explain how they function. I suspect the greatest challenge lies in balancing compass course, angle to the true wind, feedback speed etc. Insofar as the skippers rarely if at all touch the helm themselves, this must be a really powerful combination of hard- and software. Thank you and keep up the good work!
You are amazing and an inspiration for all! No matter how difficult the problem you still see the illuminosity of the ocean and the nature. Merci and regroup❤❤
Pip and Justine are my favorite women skippers in the 2024 VG. I'm glad they were both featured in this episode. I love Pip's indefatigable nature and resourcefulness. Justine accumulated the second-highest number of points among women sailors in the 2024 IMOCA Globe Series, second only to Samantha and 5th overall. She first caught my attention in the 2021 TJV when she co-skippered for the 11th Hour Racing Team. Amazing woman and a formidable sailor!
These sailors are amazing! Earlier I was watching a program on The Golden Globe round the world race. So completely different from Vende Globe but just as compelling. Thanks for another great episode.
Pip is incredible… she has a crack in the hull of her boat and remains cheerful, optimistic, and positive. For me, these are the true wonders of this regatta.
Gary from kingston ontario .. love the show watch it everyday Florian!! ... I have a request if possible as the skippers & boats rapidly approach Pt Nemo can you reference it & specifically about what happened in the 1996 vendee with Gerry Roufs ... as I grew up in Montreal sandwiched between the Royal St. Lawerence & Hudson yacht clubs where roufs sailed .. thanks Florian ...
Hey Pip. It's Jeremy Parker here rooting for you from the depths of Tasmania. I'll use my extra long telescope to watch you race by or if you've time you could stop in for a cuppa. Yours in the spirit of Bandicoot.
Whats interesting in relation to repairs of cracks in the Carbon fiber of the boats , like we saw Burton do , is that these boat hulls structires were made in kind of ideal circomstances temperaturewise and vacuumtechniques etc layer by layer , and it looks like an illusion to me that at sea you can structurely repair those cracks by applying kit and lay up CF weave material with epoxy , only very superficial damage can be repaired in that way in the conditions at sea .
Another intense update-this race just keeps throwing punches! The new designs are incredible, but it’s clear they come with a steep learning curve. The way the skippers adapt and keep moving forward despite injuries and breakdowns is truly inspiring. With so much unpredictability, who do you think has the resilience to emerge on top? Thanks for bringing us this riveting coverage-Sea Wolves is a must-watch! ☕⛵
As the leader of the wolf pack, who is very good at explaining the technical side of sailing, please explain how you visually ‘read’ both the sea and the weather. Thanks
Is there any way to move the pop up from centre screen? It obliterates the graphics giving relative positions of the fleet. Great coverage and comment keep it up !👍
pip is in it to finish. slim chance of even top 10. it is not news that she chooses to slow down so as not to break her boat. she has plenty of time for videos that way.
If the boat structure can't handle the stresses, instead of waiting for a brake stop at the cape for 2 weeks, same in new Zealand and along the s American coast.. takes the stress out of the sailors
But then it would not be an around the world non-stop race. It would be another leg race. The point of it is to do it non-stop. The sailors have to have an idea of how much their boats can take and judge accordingly.
So, we have it; the "confused" seas are entirely Florian's fault, beyond doubt - he admits it! (Brags about it?)* And he looks just like the Greek sculptures of Poseidon - it *IS* him!!** *If you imagine him naked ** Capt Flo', as we knew him in 500 BC
Do you think Charlie might keep running off? :)
I think he has a good line. Just out of the worst of it..

@@SeawolvesTV so….is he on record pace then?
PIP is incredible. What a woman ! A great role model for all of us
Pip Hare is such a lovely character. Wish her all the best for the repair.
Great to see the updates from Pip and Justine about how they are dealing with the confused sea state. Wishing them all the best!

Pip Hare, she is so cool ❤
Wow, a cracked bulkhead would be rather disconcerting to say the least. Way to hang tough Pip, we are pulling for you!
Outstanding episode, thanks for the update !!!
A good succinct and informative episode. I have so much admiration for all the sailors out there especially the ladies.

Yes, but she's been through worse.
always a great start to your video

Go Pip go... rooting for ya!
Would be nice if you could put he entire standings and how far back each is up on the screen for :30 seconds
Go Pip Go!

@@skunstt Yes. An interior bulkhead crack should be fixable as long as the boat is still enough for the materials can “set-up” properly.
5.22 Harmony of the light. Interesting.
Brave Pip!
Another goodie
There seems to be quite older boats which have had a previous hard life, structural integrity is in question.
Please get in some nice blue and white Delft pottery mugs.
Nice to be her and see what's happen😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

Good question :)
Florian, follow your show every day. It’s great. Question: how are the skippers provided with drinking water? Capt Mike from Long Island Sound
Is there any way to move the pop up from centre screen? It obliterates the graphics giving relative positions of the fleet.
Great coverage and comment keep it up !👍
no I tried :)
I think that CD took a fairly conservative line through this low - I wonder if he has some cracks too.
i've seen some video with imocas sailing with both foils in the water. what are the conditions for doing this?
pip is in it to finish. slim chance of even top 10. it is not news that she chooses to slow down so as not to break her boat. she has plenty of time for videos that way.
I never understood how wet IMOCA boats are before this race.
Anyone looking for a great sailing read ??? Get the book godforsaken sea by Derek Lundy about the 1996 vendee globe phenomenal read. CLACK CLACK CLACK
Who is that below the line?

"Finger on the pulse"...or "pulse on the finger"? Either way..good slang!

I assume Pip has the materials. fibreglass tape and resin, to patch that crack/

indeed :)
That's more like the southern ocean
When you look at Australia above leaders.. it's 4000 kms across and those VG boats eat up that continent
Is Burtin going to jump back in
No, he's officially retired. He'll fix the boat and head back to France
❤❤❤❤
Funny, you didn’t say anything about the pace and record.
