Shanks is powerful than Mihawk cause Kaido once told Haki is the the Future and also Every legendary people in one piece like Roger, Whitebeard, Garp, Xebec and etc. all were special Haki users. So even in a possibility where Shanks is 2nd to Mihawk, it will be very close but Haki wise Shanks wins....and as we know Mihawk doesn't have any devel fruit......So Shanks has a very much possibility of winning. Mihawk would win afterall shanks lose his dominant arms, it may not effect his haki and strength but it definetely affect his swordskills and skills and techniques are more important whereas haki is a supporting factor..

Having conqueror haki doesnt mean a win, like roger was not able to corner garp even a single time whereas garp was stated to corner him multiple times...

Is luffy near to death because of his gear 2nd and gear 5th?please ans.
He doesn't care about his death as long as he is with his crew and he just wants to enjoy his adventures with his crew and he just wants to be the king of the pirates and after that what ever happens with him he doesn't care and Gear 2 could kill him if he overused it (we see it affect him in Enies Lobby and Thriller Bark.) However, since the time skip, Luffy has had no problems using Gear 2 whenever he wants without any consequences. Seems like his body adjusted to his fast heart rate and that's what I think 😅 hope you got your answer 👍🏼
