    Everything you said was 100% spot on.
    1. Cool environment
    2. Keep your shoes away from light. Light can also cause some materials to fade
    3. Make sure shoes are getting a balance between moisture and air. Silica packets just dry out the midsoles and too much moisture can cause the midsoles to deteriorate as well
    4. Make sure you wear your sneakers every once in a while, or at least try them on and wear them around the house so they get used to the pressure.
    Editing is getting better too. Keep it up, DJ!

    Delz had a good idea if you plan on wearing them years down the line. Rock them around your house for at least a half hour so the paint on the midsole doesn’t crack from the stress of sitting for years and then expanding from the pressure of your foot and weight.

I live in a very humid country, year-round 75-80% humidity and temperatures of 29-32° Celsius / 84-90°F. Them silica gel packs are a must to absorb the extra moisture from the humid weather.

    • @codygameing4729
      @codygameing4729 Год назад +1

      Well if yellowing is cause by oxidation theoretically wrapping them and cutting off O2 can potentially slow that process down significantly.

    • @DexterHeisenbergBruh
      @DexterHeisenbergBruh Год назад +4

      From what I understand, oxidation (exposure to air) causes yellowing. If you prevent contact with oxygen (such as wrapping) it slows or prevents yellowing. But the problem is, if a shoe does not get enough oxygen, it dries out faster and can crumble. So the best method is trying to be balanced.

    Silica gel helps keep moisture down not completely out of the box and it is good to have them to prevent moisture which we all know is the breeding ground for fungus and bacteria + bad odor especially on used shoes. I'd say air them out ones a month if you wear them and do not close the holes let the shoes breathe, i had no dust issues and if there was? probably 5%....Until someone can prove that Silica Gel deteriorates the shoes i'd keep one at least for your health.

    Man I hear so many different things from so many different people. Like using the Saran Wrap, using the air proof bags, silicone bags everything. But this dude sounds legit so I guess I'll try it. I had a pair of cool grey 11s 2010 release I think, stored in the air proof bags for like years there is some yellowing on there a little but they still look brand new. But I also had a pair of shoes that I let just sit in the Box for years, and I just opened them up and they were all yellow at the bottom rubbers it made me so mad.

      Seriously man idk what to do so much diff info out there
      I keep all mine in a dark closet in the original boxes with paper
      Some have a Walmart bag over them
      Idk if Ima ruin them :( I haven’t worn most of them
      I get them look and store
      And occasionally will wear if I have the crease protectors in them
      No clue what to do…
      Also hear the crep spray shouldn’t be sprayed on Air Force 1 and retro 4s
      No clue anymore

      @@talksick508 Get a "damp rid" bag to hang in the closet. I keep a few silica bags in each box too. As a shoe head, and a dude who restorations. This is my advice for your situation. A nice dark closet is ideal if you ask me. I got 60 pair in my walk in closet in my master bedroom. None of those are yellowing. No vent in there so that's a plus too. But the ones in the garage yellow quite often. Hot temps here in Vegas.

    I live somewhere where it’s almost always ~80% humidity so should I put a really small silica in there with them

      Maybe a dehumidifier for the room. But if you have central air you should be fine

    so confused, some sneaker heads swear to vacuum sealing, others say the sneakers need air or they will crumble years later..... someone help me so I don't ruin my collection!!

    • @Kordan03
      @Kordan03 3 года назад +1

      Lol It'd basically u want a midsole that doesn't crumble or u wanna keep them icy. I personally don't put my shoes in nun since shoes don't yellow till at least 2-3 years without wear and at that point it's very minimal

    You said don't use silica gels, but it doesn't work in tropics. I live in Thailand, if I don't use silica, the mold will eat everything I own.

    Will keeping/storing my ultraboosts in its original box without the paper be alright? How often do I need to open the cover of the boxes or let the shoes out? I’m really concerned about the midsole and the shoe as a whole from deteriorating. Thank you for any tip/advice you can share. Stay safe!

      Bibo take your shoes out every couple of months for a few hours to let them breath and then put them back in👍
