I worked for the dealer and the lower bodyside trim was added as an option. I did not like the racetrack mldg and did not want two tone paint. I still have a copy of the window sticker in my safe.
They should put black carpet in there. It would match the headliner. My 79 is the same color with that ugly ass light blue carpet but I have a blue headliner.
This was my truck. 77000 original miles. Streetside sold it for me. Btw the blue carpet was original. Streetside is top notch to deal with

Don't matter the year. Single cab trucks are love by a huge crowd. It's not a family car. But it's a useful Motorcycle be if you wanna get realistic
Is this a true '79?, the side trim style belongs to a 1973-76 model. Beautiful truck though
Yeah I can confirm that's a 79. My 79 ranger xlt has the same exact side trim.
