    Congrats! What a steal for that price. I got my OM-1 also with the 50mm f/1.4, love that lens. The old zuiko lenses are great, also adapted to digital cameras. Some of them are really rare and expensive these days though, I would love to get the 40mm f/2 for a reasonable price one day as it is my favourite focal length. So now I have the 35mm f/2 instead. And the 135mm f/2.8 instead of the 100mm f/2, LOL. Some prices seem to be just for crazy rich collectors.

      Thank you so much! Oooh yes lots of great lens choices. That 35mm f/2 sounds awesome I’d love to get my hands on that one for my camera.😄

    I have an Olympus OM 1 & I really love it . I have had a Leica M3 & really prefer the OM 1. If you have the split screen I feel it focuses easier. As you mentioned changing the shutter speed on the lens is so much easier. The Olympus lenses are affordable & excellent. Happy shooting with your OM1.

      That’s so awesome to hear! And it’s funny you’re not the first person who’s said they reach for their om-1 over their Leica. Happy to have this in my collection for sure. Thank you for watching!

    Lovely. Good for you. These are perfect for women's hands. I learned on an OM-1, so I have a soft spot for them. Light seals are very easy to replace and fun. Nail polish remover will take off all of the goo. Kits are very cheap and so are tooth picks for extracting the old one.

    Ive put roll after roll through my OM1 and its never missed an exposure. It's such a well-made and incredible camera. The Zuiko glass is second to none, along with the viewfinder. Snow, rain. It doesn't matter, I run it through everything.
    I've shot many cameras both new and old, and nothing seems to compare. The light meters are very accurate and measured off of the film itself, rather than just ambient light exposure. It gives confidence when you need it most. If not using the flash, remove the ugly hotshoe and enjoy its elegant natural design.

    14 is definitely a deal, especially for a black paint OM-1MD. I have been using OM cameras for 15 years; since I got an OM-1MD and an OM-2SP from my grandfather. Really great cameras, and until I got a series 2 screen I used the 1 exclusively (the 2SP uses modern batteries, has the off the film metering, and an electronically controlled shutter, etc). Also, wanna say, great photos. Couple of random thoughts:
    1. I wouldnt bother with the battery/meter. You have to recalibrate the meter to use a modern battery, as the camera was designed with mercury batteries in mind. It was not... the best to begin with. I always just used a handheld meter that I bought secondhand. Honestly, I often just didnt meter when shooting neopan lol
    2. The seals are a bit of a thing since CLAing an OM-1 usually costs more than the OM-1. In the short run, I personally recommend grabbing the half case. It just adds a bit of security for light penetration and IMO improves the ergos a bit (I find the OMs very slightly small without them)
    3. Olympus made a TON of focusing screens, the 1 series are usually inexpensive. I particularly like the 5 for an OM-1, it's SUPER bright, but the 4 works in a pinch

    It's really great find. The best I ever got was a Canonet 28 for 20 euros which is now round 150 in similar condition. That was Facebook marketplace. The film tested aspect matters a lot to me. OM 1 is a beautiful camera. I want one :)

    Omg 😳 what an amazing score 🍃 this camera became the go to camera of the professional documentary photography community of the late 70’s early 80’s. Many Magnum photographers started using this amazing new system. The weight and size combined with an amazing revolutionary metering system that was so crucial for working with transparency films of the day. Congratulations on your amazing new tool.

    Good for you!!! I love your photos, and the black and white is so lovely!! I've never found a camera (of any kind or condition) at a thrift store. For film cameras, I would love to add one of those old folding cameras (the kind that fit in your pocket), they just look so fun.

    So very happy for you. Deal of the Century! Also an Olympus fan and have the silver version. The way it feels in the hands makes you never want to let it go, right? How do you like the viewfinder? Which film did you use for those lovely b/w photos? Any other dramatic changes in your camera collection recently? Do you ever feel like minimizing or rotating out when you get something new? It’s interesting to follow your journey. Keep up the great work!

    • @ArchiesLens
      @ArchiesLens  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you so much! Yes, truly deal of the century haha. It really feels so amazing in the hands, it really just makes me want to go out and shoot photos even more. Since you’ve been following me for a bit you know it’s also so much of a lighter tool for me compared to my Minolta srt 101 (which is like a tank in weight compared). For film I used ilford delta 400, such a great black and white film stock. I’d say the only other newness in my collection as of late is a point and shoot I picked up end of last year, which is the canon sure shot 105 zoom date (which I actually have been meaning to make its own video about, so stay tuned). I’ll definitely be reaching for my om-1 to shoot as my go to for sure. Thank you so much for watching and for the constant support🙌🏾✨
