shooting a juice campaign with a digicam & 35mm film camera.
Просмотров 86Месяц назад
Traveled back in time to shoot a vibey retro summer campaign for my friend's juice company Fluidity Juice. The mood board was retro colorful beach vibes. We originally wanted to shoot some video with her Super 8 camera, but it had to be repaired. So I improvised and shot video content with my digicam ( the Olympus xz-1) and snapped some still product shots with my Olympus om-1 using Kodak Color...

behind the scenes of an enchanted forest editorial photoshoot. I really wanted to see how the olympus om-1 performed with shooting editorial style portraits. so I shot with fuji color 200, and also brought my fujixt3 along to capture photos as well just in case the om-1 didn’t come through for me in the way I needed (spoiler alert, the om-1 did indeed give🙌🏾). thank you for being here. ♡, Archi...

Really cool to see your editing process, thank you for sharing.
@@viewfindings thank you so much for watching!
Very good work!
thank you so much!
Thank you for joining me✨ What are your thoughts on editing film photos?
scanning a photo is already part of the editing process so I think every film photo is always a bit edited at some point ! I do love editing my photos as well, it helps me giving the vibe I wanna have to a roll :D
@@pastelxlokysuch a great point! Scanning is absolutely a form of editing. I agree I like to edit mine to bring out the best of the image😄
Just bought my first-ever Olympus Pen F and am excited to return to shooting film! I plan to take this on my business and personal trips for both color and B&W photography. Thanks for sharing!!
Amazing! It’s such a great little powerhouse of a camera. That’s so awesome, this is so good for trips. Have fun and thank you for watching✨
I used to use sunny 16 but it’s too hot or miss. There’s too much nuance that will lead to wasted frames and film is too expensive for that shit. I used a light meter app for a while before getting a handheld incident meter. I love Minolta.
These are perfect! 🤩 what’s your go to film?
Thank you so much! I love Kodak colorplus (which these were taken with) or I usually go for Ultramax or cinestill 400d. How about you?✨
@@ArchiesLens I should totally try color plus! My usual go-tos are Portra 100 or 800 (for color) and Ilford HP5 (for Black and white)
This ain’t a good deal and you will have to buy loads of expensive film
@@Fortniteslayer2000 hmmm agree to disagree. It’s a beautiful classic camera and it works well✨
Camping when it’s cold is so much fun. Very therapeutic 😊
@@goldenhippie1984 yes!! I love camping. I’m doing the opposite and going camping in the beautiful heat of Joshua tree this weekend. Love any form of nature therapy 🥰
Aquarius here. whoop whoop 😊🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤
@@goldenhippie1984 yay! Team Aquarius, welcome!!💫
I need to create a music playlist again. It’s pretty random, but narrowed down to a specific genre 😊
always looking for new music. What are your top three songs on repeat these days?
Really needed this especially hearing the first two tips. Also it’s funny you mentioned tapping into other creative spaces because I’ve been wanting to learn how to play the bass guitar for a few years now so I’m definitely gonna look into that
Thank you for watching🫶🏾 I’m glad this was helpful for you! I love bass guitar (I also play), good luck with your learning✨
meditation is awesome, great video
Agreed😌 thank you so much for watching!
This was so good! Thank you!!
Thank you✨You’re welcome happy to share!
A few days off work , helps immensely .
yess having time away from work is so nice for a recharge!
what are ways you renew your creative inspiration?✨
Don't watch "Digital Trump vs Film Biden" (my latest youtube short) if you hate when film photographers get political. That grain is popping. I always prefer film, but you can get pretty dang close cranking that grain slider in lightroom. Plus if you adapt a vintage lens to a digital cam, you're practically there. Nice shoot. Unique posing and styling. Love it! Subbed!
I love the look and pics! Reminds of lomography.
@@huntrrams thank you! right? I thought the same thing. (:
Currently have this camera… took it for service… yet to shoot a roll but it’s good seeing you’ve one… great video and just cause of the camera you’ve a new subscriber ;)
such a solid camera! Thank you for watching and joining the fam🌟
the night photos are amazing 😯 what a lovley day
thank you so much! I had such a fun time😄
Great video very helpful. Love your energy. Any tips for outdoor night events?
Thank you!! So glad it was helpful to you. I’d say find and utilize your light source. Use your flash, but also look out for ambient lighting. Sometimes venues have cool lights in the space so don’t be afraid to utilize that for your photos as well. (:
That’s a find right there! 😊
Right!😄
Nice shots but why some of them are so grainy
These are gorgeous shots. Do you remember what aperture you shot them at? I used some Ektar for some spring shots outside so naturally I set it at 16 or 22 and all my shots came out sooo dark ☹️ was hoping for results more like yours!
Thank you!! I pretty much follow my light meter but I’d say don’t be afraid to play with 11 or even 8. My shutter speed is usually at 500 to help create balance between my settings. Good luck! Ektar is so beautiful once you master it.
Vibes and Aesthetic were on point in this one!👌🏾
thank you! had a lot of fun with this one✨
thanks for watching 🫶🏾✨
Great tips!
thank you so much!
Damn and i paid 300 euros for om-1n at a second hand professional photoshop tho😂 you're lucky!
Awe man! Yea I knew what it normally went for so I was very excited about this find😄
mermaid vibes🧜🏽♀️✨
Great content! I have an xt4 and looking for a compact point and shoot for everyday carry but ricoh and fuji are kinda overpriced nowadays so upon researching, i think the olympus is a bang for buck! Awesome fotos you got too! Subbed!
that's exactly why I went for the olympus xz-1. I had my eye on the new ricoh but couldn't justify the price. I love my xz-1, and the images have such a unique vibe. thank you so much for watching and subbing. hope you get an xz-1 in your hands soon!😄
Nice collection. The Minolta SRT-101 is a great camera. It was the first film camera I used. I love its mechanical simplicity.
It's really great find. The best I ever got was a Canonet 28 for 20 euros which is now round 150 in similar condition. That was Facebook marketplace. The film tested aspect matters a lot to me. OM 1 is a beautiful camera. I want one :)
Love the canonet! Hope you get to aid an om-1 to your collection soon🫶🏾
@@ArchiesLens I just got one on ebay :) Not as good a deal as yours and I hope it works. It's actually my first OM-1.
Wonderful review! I have been looking to pick up a pen f but then I went down a rabbit hole of researching all the different types of half frame cameras. Now I have a spreadsheet of all 173 half frame cameras ever made and all their specs lol
Thank you for watching! I’ll be curious to know which half frame camera you decide to choose😄
so cool
The OM-1 is working well for a thrift store camera , nice work 😊
it sure is! so happy with the results.
which photos were your favorite, the om-1 or fuji xt3 images? 🧚🏾✨
definetely the OM1... it definitely made the model look dreamy
Cars + photoshoots = timeless 🚙✨
Nice I love black and white
Thank you!
Definitely my favorite point and shoot
So good right?
@@ArchiesLens yes definitely top 5 in my opinion
Fantasy movies, especially those that refence the past, should always be shot on film. Digital is too clean and sharp, making it feel like we're watching actors and not characters. Films makes it feel like we're watching moving pictures of bygone times, and the colors are warmer and the movement is softer.
Truly! Film has such a timeless quality and feel to it. ✨
I can't find this app. Is it for iPhones only? Could you put a link in the description please? 🙏🏾
It might only be for iPhones (I have an iPhone). It’s called myLightmeterpro
I would suggest a cheap lens cap when you take it out an original with the Gothic 'F' is expensive, if you have any Zuiko manual lenses with an adaptor you can use them on the Pen F, could you remember what you had taken by the time you had finished the film
Also a fuji girl here, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and perspective it gave me confidence to go on with my fuji
Yay team Fuji!✨ I’m so glad this was helpful for you.
Great breakdown and tips! When it comes to shot-lists; I find that overly specific ones can be a pain to work with in their own way! But when it's more like you described (Key people, a few essential shots, and "types" of shots to include, etc) it can be helpful. Otherwise, I feel like I'm just working through a checklist rather than using intuition and grabbing key moments as they present themselves. So shotlists are a love/hate relationship in my experience, depending on the client or event 😅
Thank you!! And absolutely that’s a great point on shot lists. I think we need to trust ourselves as photographers that we know how to look for those key moments. It’s nice just having that guide. But luckily I haven’t worked with clients, at least not yet, who are hounding you about the shot list haha😅
Hi, i’m a black girl who wants to get into film and photography but I have no idea where to start. What would you recommend?
Hi 👋🏾 always great to have a fellow black girl in the community. I would recommend just starting. If you don’t have a camera do a bit of research and buy a camera that’s not too expensive first and just start taking photos. You’ll start to learn what you like to take photos of and you’ll be able to learn about different camera settings and film stocks along the way. If you have a local camera store near you, you can always go in and ask questions and there’s a wealth of knowledgeable photographers like myself sharing information on RUclips. But yea just get started and you’ll learn along the way!
Very interesting, thank you! So far I avoided using flash altogether because of the unnatural looks it creates. How do you avoid that? I rather crank up the ISO or lose some shots due to the shutter speed beeing to slow… But also I just photographed some family events so far so not a deal breaker. But I would love to learn how to use flash in a way that creates good results. Without having to lug around a soft box…
Glad this was interesting! Thank you for watching. On camera flash can be harsh, but once you learn how to adjust settings on it and use it in a certain way it can really elevate your photos. With a flash like the one I showed in the video you can adjust how powerful your flash is (I alternated between the three lower settings), and I kept my shutter speed on 1/250 mostly, then adjusted my iso accordingly. I would say another trick is not aiming the flash directly onto your subject but adjusting the flash at an upward angle so its indirect light hitting them but it still bounced on to the subject! I'm thinking about maybe doing a video specifically on using flash and top tips for that(:
Cool. So happy for you. Did you have any issues using facial recognition? I think my camera can only recognize 3 faces at once. Not sure how I would handle a group of 4, 😅. Yes, I agree flash is underrated! Do you point the flash straight up with the white card out to bounce the light forward? Were the ceilings helping or hurting you? I know the color and the height can affect things…
Thank you! I didn't have any issues. My go-to for these types of settings where I know I'm going to be photographing at least two or more people is putting my autofocus range to ALL, & then having aperture on f4 with that is always a win for me. A lot of this event was outside (for inside we weren't allowed to use flash) so I didn't have a ceiling to bounce. I would either take a vertical photo (have the flash light them from the side) and use the white bounce card on the flash to direct the light or if I was taking a horizontal photo I would direct the flash at an upward angle as to get some flash but not have it directly in the subjects faces, to make it not so harsh. I may have to do a little demonstration video on how I use flash one day 🤔
You’re a natural for the social part 😂
haha thank you! i think years of being a barista and working in retail helps me a bit in talking to strangers, but i still get a little anxiety before😂
