The use of the discard pile is to get rid of the cards that you matched, as you said this is not uno it’s actually not even similar except the look of the cards lol In uno when there are no cards left in the pile you turn over like crazy 8s this game doesn’t function the same !

Thank you! My family loves Uno, so I bought this on impulse when I saw it in the store. Trying to figure out how to play from the instructions was proving to be very confusing - as were many of the "helpful" videos on RUclips. This is buy far the best explaination I found. Just to clarify, "no color matches" means you cannot, for example, play a red 4 on top of a red 2 like you can in Uno. Otherwise, color matches are restricted to playing the same number, except the # which can be played on any number, and give bonus effects as shown in the video.
Just picked up a copy. This video was a lifesaver, the rules as written are a little murky on how adding cards to the center row works. This cleared it up perfectly 😁
adam jshy I personally love how fast and loose Dos is (once you get through five to ten minutes of practice games to get a feel for the rules). When you run into bad draws Uno can drag on and on, and Dos’ extra piles help to lessen that. Uno is still great because it’s so simple that anyone can play without a frustrating learning curve. And thank you for the compliment! I’m glad it makes a little more sense!
After getting an idea of how the game is played, it actually seems really fun. I've seen some other tutorials online and all of them kinda rushed over the rules, thanks for the rundown
“There are no color matches in dos” 10 seconds later “And that’s what they call a color match” Umm... So which is it? Edit: For those people who take things too seriously it was a joke
it's not a necessity its a bonus, where you can get rid of an extra card (and in a double color match all other players will draw a card along with you getting rid of a card)
There ARE color matches; he shouldn't have said that there aren't. However, what he meant is that you HAVE TO match the numbers to play. The rules say that you match the number "regardless of the color". If you DO match the color, then there is a bonus.
I never liked Uno because it was sooo popular in high school and college that it seemed that's all anyone wanted to play. When we would play I would get bored and say, "Can I just add these 2 cards together and play them both for the value of the card on the board?" Well, it only took 2+ decades for someone to decide to give us permission to do that in a game play ;+) A coworker got this game for me for Christmas and my niece and I just played it last night. I told her I should have watched a video tutorial first. This was an excellent video, however, I agree with many that explaining the "no color match" was a bit confusing. I got better clarification reading some other people's comments. Thanks to Kevin12567 (below) for a really good explanation. I'm ready to play again!! And to anyone looking for some other fun card games...go check out Phase 10, Skip-Bo and/or Sequence. In my opinion, hands down so much better than Uno or Dos...just saying. But I'm all for anyone who still wants to enjoy a game night the old-fashion way; unplugged from TV and electronics...sitting at a table with a card or board game!!
I thought I had figured out how to play this after reading the instructions thoroughly but after watching this, I discovered that we were actually making a mistake with one thing.......we were placing the bonus cards from color matches down first instead of replacing the cards that were played with cards from the deck first. In other words, if both cards that were placed face up were played and we had 2 bonus cards from color matches, we would just put the bonus cards down instead of replacing the 2 face up cards and THEN also adding any bonus cards to the playable area. Glad we watched this video so that we can play this correctly
You are correct. I may have been trying to get rid of the Wild 2 because the game could end at any moment, but it's more likely I just missed it. Good eye!
If he did play the red three, would he have stacked the color bonuses and been able to place down two cards from his hand? Or do you only get one bonus per round?
wow, I did *not* know that that's how you play dos. I've always played dos like uno but you can add up to two cards from your hand to match the card in the middle (if it can add up). And if you did put two cards down, then the card on the top is the new card the next player has to match. One example from my assumed rules is that when there's a 2 in the middle, you can either put a number, two ones, the color that the 2 was made from the player who dealt the 2, or another two. I would like to play the official version, but unfortunately, the rules and set-up seem too new and confusing for new players and especially players who don't like to learn new rules (like many of my friends)
In the second game at 5:21 you could have won by playing wild 2 and yellow 1 to match the yellow 3 (this will make a double color match making the opponent draw a card and you placing a card at the end of the turn), the red 3 to match the red 3 (making you place another card at the end of the turn) and playing the 9 and blue 1 to match the 10 and calling dos. At the end of the turn you place the two cards leaving you with 0 cards.
This is absolutely correct. I was sucked into the lure of the 10-10 match because in my limited experience, it's much harder to get rid of them and if you put them in the center they're easier to match on. Completely missed that Player 1 could've swept both games. Well played.
At 1:25 you say there are no color matches in DOS but then you make a color match?? I'm very confused by this one statement, otherwise everything seems clear. Otherwise, what is the point of the colors?
hey mate I read the rules and it says that you have to make number matches as well, and the # sign can replace any number just for like "if there is a red 7 down, you can use a yellow 2 and a red # sign to make a match", so if the # is not red you can't make a match... like "blue # and yellow 2 can't match for a red 7"...the rest of the video is cool, actually helped me with those complicated rules... thx
Actually, you can use a blue # to match a red 7 but it won't be a colour match, similarly a red # with a yellow 2 won't be a double colour match, only a red # on a red 7 will be a colour match, similarly two red # or a red # with a red 1-6 on a red 7 will be a double colour match.
Its good, played last night with my grandparents who LOVE Uno. The rules are definitely more complex though and I think my grandfather was having some difficulty. He's also colorblind too which doesn't help with the color match bonuses.
I like this better than Uno because Dos doesn't go on forever like Uno does. So the rounds are much quicker. If you like Uno I recommend 5 Crowns which is a rummy style game. If you are playing just to players I also recommend Schotten Totten it's basically a 2 player card game with rummy and poker hands. Also if your parents like Monopoly they will probably like Monopoly Deal better it has the same feel as Monopoly but is much shorter and you feel like you have more control over your actions since no dice involved.
There is also a hard to find card game called Straw by AEG which kind of has a Uno feel. And there is also GHOOOST! and Pinana Pirate by Iello which is basically Uno. There was also another Uno like game but I think it had a Greek theme but I forget the name.
The way I understood the rules, the # cards can only be placed on cards of the corresponding color. For example, if your # card is green, you can only match to green.
The rules that I got from a retail package have one more thing to add to this video: On a double color match, you can make all of your opponents draw one card.
Here's what I really don't get about the way they've structured this game: Applying any color match bonuses you received is the very last thing you do to end your turn. Why? If this happens *after* you make sure the 'center row' has at least 2 cards to start again FROM THE DECK, then how is this really a bonus or advantage? Sure, you get to discard any card(s) from your hand of your choosing to add to the 'center row', BUT...you've now given your opponent an additional option or two for their turn. They have more cards to choose from in the center row, and will more likely not have to draw a card from the deck, but rather will probably be able to play straight away on the center row, somewhere. Not much of an advantage or bonus. It would be much more of a game changer if the card(s) you opt to discard from your hand for your match bonus are what initially replenish the center row up to the mandatory (2) cards, rather than adding to cards coming from the deck.
I completely agree! I think we are going to make "house rules" and play it the way you suggested. It makes a lot more sense, and then really would be a bonus for the player who made the color match.
Ethan Spiro we played it like it says and half the time the game is over before you get to play the 2nd time. We were playing with 4 players Exactly like you said you get those color matches and now there is 4-5 cards in center and the next guy almost always goes out. Game is way to fast. Always shuffling cards. We played for 4-5 hours and never really got much better. So we changed it and if single color match you replenish center to 2 cards not the draw pile. If you get 2 card color match. Everybody draws 1 or 2 (we played both ways DOS is 2 so we made them draw 2 ) even just 1 card game lasts longer. In my opinion is still way too fast of a game
Thanks for the video - we had some questions when we started playing based on the somewhat vague instructions. We were playing that the # had to match the color, but could be any number.
Hey - (trying to get my head around this game as well) - based on the rules at 2mins only a single card is added to the Centre Row and the Left (right to you) player would draw one
This game is pretty cool I like it better than Uno. The only thing I don't like is that when you refill the center row there is a chance that the card will be a wild 2. Only way to match it is with another wild 2 or a # card, so it's hard to combo off of it and becomes dead space for a while. Maybe I could house rule it that when a player refills the center row and a wild 2 appears he keeps the card and refills the row by drawing another card.
Thank you for explaining this, it really helps when there are examples, so watching a round or two really helps. The only thing I’m still confused on is when do you add to the center pile? And what determines how many cards you add to the center pile? Well, either way, I think I’m going to stick with uno, dos is too confusing for me.
You always have to match the number of a pile, but if you match the color as well you can place a card from your hand in the center row as a new pile. If you use two cards to match the number and they both match color, it's still just one card but all other players also have to draw a card. The other time you would make a new pile is if you can't (or choose not to) make a match. At this point you draw a card from the deck and have another opportunity to match. If you do not make a match, you place a card from your hand in the center row as a new pile. Dos is super confusing but also strangely intuitive once you get all the nuances under your belt. That said, Uno is a classic for a reason and it's way easier to understand.
They should include a link of your video on the next version of the game’s instructions booklet! Thanks! Question: the instructions say that when you cannot make a move, you need to draw, and then “if you can make a match after drawing, you may do so”. Do you interpret this as a) you can make a match by using ONLY the card you just drew; or b) you may combine the recently drawn card with another one your hand for a match?
You missed the moment at the end of game one where you were supposed to say DOS, since it says that at any point you have exactly 2, you have to say DOS
Mega Rotom Kind of a weird thing to try to gotcha me for...but also I *did* say it at 5:13 when I went down to two cards at the end of the prior turn. My conscience is clean.
Just tried this game Thursday. I think you missed one rule. When you use 2 cards to add up on one pile you can't do more than one play. It says you can do either or but not both.
At 5:30 I believe that was 2 color matches, because a wild 2 converts it's pairing card to the color of the center card. So you would then have 4 cards in the center. Right?
SandCannon The rules say if the other card is a different color you can still make a Double Number Match, which is their term for an ordinary two-card match. No bonus. If it helps I had to read and reread that part of the rules four times just now to realize what they were saying!
Got the idea of it. Just 2 questions 1. Can a player use more than 2 cards to add up to a number? Like 2+2+1=5 for a card? Or just 2 cards. 2. When does the opponent pick up a card for your double color match? And all opponent? Like if 4 are playing? Thanks in advance
Jeanette Howard 1. You can only match up to two cards with one pile. 2. Based on how the rules are written, I believe the order is this: at the end of the turn, discard any piles with matches. If there are less than two piles in the center row, use cards from the deck to make new piles until there are two. If you made any Color Matches, use cards from your hand to create additional piles in the center row, one for each pile you Color Matched. If you made any Double Color Matches, each opponent now draws one card from the deck for each pile you Double Color Matched.
Can you use a # card in your deck on a 2 that’s already laid out and use the # card as a two ? And use the same color and the two to match your # card to make it a color bonus?
Uno and dos Uno: IM A BETTER CARD GAME Dos: NO IM A BETTER CARD GAME Solitaire: Im better I know the world has 7 billon ppl Uno and dos: wait cards don’t talk All: turns back to normal
I dont understand the center row and how you can pick up and put down something into the center row. My question basically is do you put a card down when you make any matches? (Single or double)
You match the numbers on one or two cards from your hand to a pile from the center row, and that whole pile gets discarded. You can do this for more than one pile. After that, if there are less than two piles in the center, you use cards from the deck to replace them until there are two piles. Then if all the cards you matched to a pile earlier match in color as well as number, you use a card from your hand to create a new pile in the center, once for each pile that was color matched. You never take cards from the center row into your hand.
Left player did make a double color match on the last round. You used a wild 2 and one on the 3 and ofcourse the yellow 3 on the yellow 3. That means right player should have gotten another card and left player would have put another card in play. Also have a questions...are you limited to only 2 cards adding up to make a match? I say you had a 3 2 1 =6 can you play all three cards on a 6
You know when after a bonus you add a card from your hand to the centre? Do you replace a card from the deck to that centre card after it has been played?
In that case you draw one card from the deck. At this point you have another chance to match to a pile. If you still can’t (or choose not to), you create a new pile in the center row with any card from your hand.
God that sound when you play the cards is oddly satisfying.

At 1:25 you say there are no color matches in DOS but then you make a color match?? I'm very confused by this one statement, otherwise everything seems clear. Otherwise, what is the point of the colors?
you can’t match using colours, but if the colours do coincidentally match when you’re matching numbers, then the rules apply.

Ethan Spiro I believe it’s a self-balancing mechanic, to slightly even out the opportunities you get for having a crazy hand to start.
I completely agree! I think we are going to make "house rules" and play it the way you suggested. It makes a lot more sense, and then really would be a bonus for the player who made the color match.
That's a good idea.
I'll have to try both versions, see what works better.
Round one, you can’t just lay down a third center card unless you’ve earned a bonus. You would have to hold on to that card until your next turn.
Hey - (trying to get my head around this game as well) - based on the rules at 2mins only a single card is added to the Centre Row and the Left (right to you) player would draw one
05:20 You could've made a double color match there so the other player draws 2 (pair of red 3 and a pair of yellow 3)
Thank you now I fully understand it. The instructions seem so complicated.
When you realize it’s a lot harder than you expected 😅and realize might as well play it like uno better because it’s complicated
That said, Uno is a classic for a reason and it's way easier to understand.
ok this game looks really interesting, i thought it would be bad, thaks for the explanation
Danilo Luna I interpreted it to mean that after you draw the card, you can use any card or cards from your hand to make a match.
learning this game is literally twice as hard as uno
Twice
Where can i buy DOS? i want to make a brutal weapon with it
You missed the moment at the end of game one where you were supposed to say DOS, since it says that at any point you have exactly 2, you have to say DOS
This is for people that want to get confused, I'll stick to uno.
Thanks for the tutorial, question....if you you have two separate color matches, not a double, can you throw out one card for each color match?
What happens if you make a double match (e.g. play a 3 and a 4 on a 7) but only one of them matches the color and not the other?
Thanks! That helped us ALOT!!!
At 5:30 I believe that was 2 color matches, because a wild 2 converts it's pairing card to the color of the center card. So you would then have 4 cards in the center. Right?
SandCannon It only counts as a color match of both cards match the color. The Wild 2 matched, but since the 1 was blue there was no bonus.
Can you read the rulesheet under the Wild card heading again? I believe the wild 2 changes the color of the card it's being added to.
SandCannon The rules say if the other card is a different color you can still make a Double Number Match, which is their term for an ordinary two-card match. No bonus.
If it helps I had to read and reread that part of the rules four times just now to realize what they were saying!
Ah I see. Thanks.
Got the idea of it. Just 2 questions
1. Can a player use more than 2 cards to add up to a number? Like 2+2+1=5 for a card? Or just 2 cards.
2. When does the opponent pick up a card for your double color match? And all opponent? Like if 4 are playing?
Thanks in advance
1. Just 2 cards may be used to add up to a number.
2. All opponents pick up 1 card when you have a double color match.
Yes to both. The Wild # card can be a 2, and the Wild 2 card can be whatever color you choose, so you can make it a color bonus.
Uno and dos
Uno: IM A BETTER CARD GAME
Dos: NO IM A BETTER CARD GAME
Solitaire: Im better I know the world has 7 billon ppl
Uno and dos: wait cards don’t talk
All: turns back to normal
I say you had a 3 2 1 =6 can you play all three cards on a 6
Kheri Bussey You can’t match more than two cards for one pile.
How about the yelling of dos?
But if u have no number and a or that thingng or the number two with color what should I do then
You know when after a bonus you add a card from your hand to the centre? Do you replace a card from the deck to that centre card after it has been played?
So... what do youdo when you dont have any cards to match with the face-up cards? You draw 1 or 2 cards from the deck?
In that case you draw one card from the deck. At this point you have another chance to match to a pile. If you still can’t (or choose not to), you create a new pile in the center row with any card from your hand.
