YOU THE MAN! We all need a no brainer golf tip for our short game as well. A clean consistent strike no matter how it looks or feels is critical. Keep sending these awesome videos!
Great tip Steve! It helped me out on the golf course today. I'll try to keep it a secret so nobody else in Texas finds out about it except Jordan Spieth and myself!
Tried this today feeling right side higher and swinging as if I was on a down slope. Had some great pitches and chip shots, 4 or 5 holes with a 1 putt. Got my short game back on track. Easy feeling to remember. Great video 👍
You say “right side high” but its is not really happening on the video. 4:28. You are leaning in front of ball but right shoulder is still lower.. When I get my right shoulder higher bounce is not engaged at all. Only thing that seems to work for me is keeping hands low while still crowding the ball as much as possible. Key is keeping hands low and pivoting the body. I think the tendency is to allow the hands to lift which results in chunks and thins.
You can still use the bounce of the wedge If you right side bend. If you feel like the elbow joints are aligned at the same level you'll get a much more relatable and efficient feel rather than getting the right shoulder high.
Nice to hear you crediting the Elk , he has always something interesting to give when he talks about golf but often pairs up with oddball instructors … something that cannot be said here …😃
Another thing is do not make the chipping swing too armsy because being armsy makes it very variable. You can be armsy on the practice ground yes but it does not work under pressure. Make it connected like a putting stroke and rotate your arms connected with your body. Get this and your two centres sorted and you're away - or rather you're not away because you've chipped it closer than your mates!
With this logic, wouldn't it make sense to chip cross handed? For a right hander left hand low will guarantee the right shoulder will be higher than normal. Thoughts?

A classic tip. Ur idea of think of playing as if on down slope is really amazing. Wonderful tip
What a difference. I do love it, up and down several times .Thank you.

Most fantastic short game tip I’ve ever tried that worked and I’ve tried dozens of short game fixes. Thank you thank you! No more chunks!!!

It's a feel..not really higher.😊

Standing on the right food toes, helps the spine to lean more forward. Good reminder, thanks!
This is GOLD!! 👏👏👏👏 👏
I agree Robin👏🏻👍
Nice. Adopted this technique when I read the 7 laws of the Golfswing nearly 20 years ago.
As I was watching this tip I really did "kinda" see Speith. Excellent tip!

That explains why you should have more weight on your left side when chipping. Thanks
Thanks Steve, you are peerless.
worth trying ..thanks Steve

I have a tee time booked for Friday. We got snow yesterday!?!?! Supposed to clear/warm up by Friday. I will arrive early to work on this.
Excellent Shug👍
Great video on chipping and pitching. I'll try this out 👍
Great video and content as usual Steve.
What is the significance of straighting the right leg? What benefits?
Briliant! Cheers, Steve.
Great clear instruction!
Great Steve, thank you
You’re welcome Derek👍
I'm jealous. Looking at snow outside my window and Mr. Johnston is in short sleeves on the golf course.
This could be a game changer
Could be…?😉👍
Great tip!!
Great tIp

If I lived anywhere near you I'd defo be coming for regular lessons 😁
Bizzare , I just figured this out the other day on my own. I straighten trail leg and bend lead knee giving forward tilt.
Love it!!!!👌👌
Thanks mate ⛳️🏌️
Not a secret..Eric Kaplan has been teaching this for years..your explanation is good also.
Hi Steve just wondering if this techinque is used for both a Pitch and Chip. If so is it simply a change in ball position?
Why not keep bounce open at the beginning of the backswing?
:) nice, got any more Elkington tips?
Would that work for bunker shots too Steve?
Some great chips from preferred lies
thanks Steve how is the weight proportioned 70-30?
What degree wedge were you using for this demonstration?

I putt with left hand low/cross handed, kinda makes sense, might try it.
Is there a version of this in English? :)
😂😂Nooooo
Is there a drill to get this feeling?
👍👍👍
'It's going to rain??' Of course, it's going to rain - it's Scotland!
Steve maybe im yacky but to me every shot You played your left shoulder was higher than your right !
Did you hear the feel v real part???
