Steve, as a left handed person who has struggled playing right handed for 5 years, I recently made the decision to try and learn the game left handed as the body movements required felt more natural. I tried this drill at the range tonight and can honestly say that I have never hit the ball as straight and as consistent as I have tonight. Yes, probably too early to tell after one session but I’ve came away buzzing and itching to get onto the course to try it out where it really matters. Unbelievable drill which is so simple and so effective. Thank you Steve 👍🏻
Great video Steve. I instantly realised that when I did this exercise, my ‘normal’ right forearm was definitely not in the right position, hence my poor shot was always over the top with disconnected arms. Can’t wait to try it out.
Good video Steve, for a right handed golfer the back of the right wrist to the elbow is the key to stay on plain, consistent body rotation and it will eliminate early release. Very good video.
This is a little bit like the Moe Norman grip and swing taught by Kirk Junge (Learning Golf TV) and the Graves Academy. I've been using this right-hand grip for quite a few years where that hand's palm faces the target at impact, eliminating any rotation or roll over on the follow through. Steve doesn't mention the Left-hand grip, but I also use Junge's approach there. Gotta say, my golf shots have never been straighter.
Great suggestion for placing the right hand on the golf club Steve! This will definitely work for me since this is the position I am trying to attain at set up! My swing is usually on an in to out to in path. Something I will be thinking about when I do set up. Good Job Steve!
@@stevejohnstongolf tried it out yesterday with non other than Eddie Polland ( ryder cup team 1970s ) he was well impressed with the change in my ball strike ! Mind you he still hits a gap wedge 115 meters effortlessly 😂 Thanks
I am starting golf Gain at an age of 80. I was a 10 hdc at 55 but due to circumstances I stopped but having real problems. I am in pretty good shape but cannot seem to get it back.
Hi Steve. I struggle with an over the top swing that’s ruining my game. I live in Penicuik, so not far at all from Peebles. One on one lesson in the future 👍🏻
Good stuff yet again. I broke my right elbow two days ago, on the golf course. Tripped on an invisible tree stump. Sigh. Any tips for hitting lead arm only golf shots?
Hi Steve, I’m very new to your site, and I’m also very old! I see that you have the Eureka logo on your shirt, are you setting up to strike these shots in this video with the Eureka set or are you square to the target line. I love your technique. Thank you.
Watched the video a couple of times. Waited until there was enough shade on my practice area. The first three or four swings had me striking the balls perfectly. After a few successful swings, I got off plane… swaying off the ball… trail elbow all over the place… again. Repeat repeat repeat. Try it again tomorrow. I’ll keep working on it. One more idea: I was using my 52° wedge. I think I had the handle too low. I pay attention to that when I practice tomorrow
I think most golfers would benefit from playing with a significantly shorter. The loss of club head speed is more than offset by the clean striking. No matter how much I try, I can’t keep the club on plane from the half swing up to the full swing, but this drill definitely looks like it could help. Will give it a go
Great video Steve. I notice that you keep your right upper arm pretty close to your body. I guess that is part of the secret? I will work on that. Thanks again.
Hi Steve. Great video. However, to my coach I think this swing would look very ‘laid inside’ or flat and ‘hitting the wall’ behind you. Is this the case or is it just from the camera perspective? I’m quite short so my swing is naturally flatter than average.
The hard part for me is in the full backswing, getting the right arm down and in front to the same position. It's a transition move the better players do that shallows the club and keeps the arms close together. Really struggling with this part of it.
Yep. Had a lesson with my local pro as I am shanking dreadfully. He diagnosed an over the top swing and suggested a "feel" for the back swing which essentially was a swallowing of the club at transition. In fact changing the plane completely to attack the ball from the inside. Steve's right hand drill is all about keeping the same plane and makes perfect sense for short chipping. But in fact is the exact opposite of my pro's advice. Steve is a first class coach and his videos are spot on. This one however has me confused. Anyone else out there agree/disagree. Welcome some feedback
This is inline with the single, or one plane set up which makes so much sense for easier consistency. What’s interesting is that his right forearm at top of backswing is not the “textbook”parallel with his spine angle. But the real key (which I’m terrible at) is how he truly swings with his body. Conventional 2-plane swing takes a ridiculous amount of timing & is just “plane” hard! I love this drill pro!
Instruction that works and we can all understand..
Excellent!
Excellent way of swinging golf clubs. Easy and consistent. I will use this method. Thanks so much.
No hips no slide no bumping moves or whatever the 19 year old pros do! love it buddy thanks heaps again simple golf swing for all cheers Steve Dave
Steve, I took this concept to the course today and had my best ball striking day all year! Thanks!
Steve this might have been your best video yet! Plane and grip are everything! Well done can’t wait to try!
Many thanks John
Steve dropping Gold nuggets of Golf ⛳️ 🔥

Terrific lesson. So important to set up in a position that helps keep you on plane. Thanks Coach!

Brilliant! I have been pulling irons badly and this will be a great help. Thank you.
Great video Steve. The reps are really working and syncing everything up. Cheers!!
Well done, Steve! I really enjoy how you present these swing thoughts.
Thanks Rudy

Nice one Rick👍
This helped so much in my golf tie today. Might have been beaten on the 18th but couldn't have played better. Thanks Steve :)

Was gonna say the same about Moe. Arguably the greatest ball striker ever. It’s like he started at impact and worked his way backward.

Great content Thanks!
Great lesson Steve
Brilliant one of your best Steve!
Great advise Steve thanks .
Going to definitely see if this tip helps my consistency!
Great explanation, thanks mate!
One of the best yet from a lot of great tips
Cheers Max🙏🏻👏🏻

Great video, how do you get any club speed with the one plane swing.
Great drill! This should also maintain a straight arm on the downswing.

How far were you hitting that 8 iron Steve with the bigger swing? Thanks for the lesson.

Steve great drill.. But your allignment of the feet is way left?
Check out www.eurekagolfswing.com as to why my feet line is open. There is a difference between opening up your body’s and aiming left👍

Question question if you’re left-handed and you can’t feel the right so much how do I use it to make more speed thank you 12:12
Steve we know euraka is pivot driven but do I sense that your pivot is right hip and shoulder .douglas bissett

Steve: I notice in this drill that your feet appear to be square to the target and not open like the Eureka stance. What’s up with this ?!
Also, was that a TaylorMade stealth driver?
Downswing blackout - now I know what it is!
Oh god… are you telling me I’ve been playing golf wrong with a straight right arm at set up? 😂
