My wife and I were driving and passed a citrus orchard in South Georgia and turned around to go back . They were selling fruit and the owner of the orchard was there a well . We bought some Meyer lemons and Shiranui. Both were great but we both said the Shiranui was the best citrus fruit we had ever eaten . I ordered trees from Georgia Grown Citrus after the owner told me that’s where all of his hundreds of trees came from . They are now 4-5 feet tall in the ground after two years . I’ve had many Meyer lemons but it’s the first year producing for the shiranui. I’m not expecting them to taste as good off the young trees as his did but we can’t wait to try them from our own trees .
Good for you to have found the tree. I heard its quite hard to buy this variety. I was just lucky, a friend of mine sold one of his haul when he went in northern Cali. He assured me tho, that the fruits will get better as the tree gets older. Congrats on your new haul of citrus fruits
i have sumo grafted onto an older tree. it has fruited heavily 2 years in a row. the size of my fruits are jumbo sized. i find the flavor to be ok. it actually reminds me a lot of grapefruit but sweeter. anyway, i hope that the fruits get better with age

In Japan, they are known as Dekopon mandarin. So sweet and juicy. Yes, maybe it's the first fruit, so the taste is not that good yet.
