      Post apocalyptic transport will be devoid of any software and definitely not drive by wire with no spare wheel. It would take a brave soul to venture with this creation too far from civilisation. A neutron bomb will toast all electronics for a start and even if firmware updates were available the charge points will be even rarer than they are now. This vehicle being concurrent with the respected supercharger group being summarily thrown overboard is a strange combination.

    The cybertruck road size is about the same as the ubiquitous Sprinter vans, so any roads those can transverse, so can the cybertruck - probably easier as it has rear wheel steering. I think I would still choose a model X over a Cybertruck. I just wish the new X was available with right hand drive in the UK - if it was I would trade my Y for one.

    Here's the the thing with the Cybertruck in the UK.
    Due to its weight, you would need a C1 entitlement on your driving licence to be able to drive it.
    Also in it's current configuration it is not compliant with UK and EU regulations. (All those sharp edges are not conducive to pedestrian safety. It would probably not pass an SVA test.)

    • @MBrown
      @MBrown  4 месяца назад +5

      Yeah, I’m kind of hoping they make a smaller European version

    • @jimpackard8059
      @jimpackard8059 4 месяца назад +4

      Yes. No idea why they are showing it in the UK as safety regs will almost certainly ensure that it cannot be sold here. And Brits have more brains than to spend vast sums on a truck which is failing, under recall for dodgy accelerator pedal, cuts carrots in half via the frunk lid, does not allow reasonable side access to the load area, has had to remove the plastic wheel covers because of design fault….. how many more faults would you like ?

    • @kylereese4822

      Curb weight standard cybertruck 2,995 kg
      Cyberbeast 3,104 kg
      Range Rover 3,230kg
      G Wagon Weight: 3150 kg
      Model S 5,939 lbs 2,694 kg

    • @mattcarpenter6986
      @mattcarpenter6986 4 месяца назад

      It weighs 2,995kg so you don't need a C1 entitlement. You could put 505kg of weight in the truck before reaching capacity which few users would ever reach.

    I’d happily chop my Model Y in for one. I’m sure it’ll be snug down the back lanes of Wales & Cornwall, but if you’re on a road wide enough for only 1 vehicle you have to work it out when you meet someone else anyway. At least when you get to a field entrance you can get in without worrying about scratching it or getting bogged down…….. or just climb the bank!

    Sadly, the vast majority of American vehicles don't work in the UK due to their size. Our tiny roads just can't accommodate them. It's a shame, because America makes some really cool stuff. With it's bulk, being LHD, and it's weird looks, I don't think Cybertruck will play well here. BMW have about 2 yrs before Tesla can satify the the demand in US.

    Would be very difficult to insure such a vehicle here. I don't think any insurance companies would insure it, even if one did imagine the excess, plus there is no European NCAP rating. More a small museum piece then a road going vehicle. My friend had a Dodge RAM mainly for putting (dirt) motorbikes in the bucket, it was a nightmare purchase, insurance was sky high, trying to get it repaired was nightmare, he managed to get rid of it to some Scottish guy who was into US imports.

    • @kylereese4822
      @kylereese4822 4 месяца назад

      Some cars, truck don't test for NCAP as they adopt the safety rating from more stricter countries eg UK don't test the Cyberturck but use the test scoring of say Australia that have a stricter testing system and there it passes then the UK will pass for the UK roads... Ps Eg, the Australian RS Focus has more options on it that are not legal in the UK...
      and the Ford MST (Escort) MK2 are not legal in Australia even though its exactly the same as the Ford MK2, Old rusty/patch panel MK2 legal - new fresh built MST not legal.

      @@kylereese4822 I like the Mark 2 Escort, its classic. Insurance in the UK is a nightmare, the costs have sky rocketed. Certain EV's are an issue, there was a problem with some of the big names in the car insurance game refusing Tesla Model Y cover. The biggest issue is with repairs. There is a place in the UK, it's like a Tesla graveyard, with written of Tesla's that just couldn't be repaired. Even silly things like a bumper crumple and the car is written off. I think most are waiting for Hydrogen cell, I suspect EV's are a temporary stepping stone.

    Mark did they say anything about UK orders? I’ve had mine since day 1, they’ve obviously now removed the ability to pre-order but Tesla haven’t updated me since, now they’re showing off the car in the UK…. Does this mean they’re looking to launch the Cybertruck in the Uk as promised? I’ve heard it won’t meet pedestrian impact standards…. There are regulations regarding the front-end dimensions for UK cars. The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986 (as amended) set out a number of requirements for the design of vehicle front ends, including:
      1) The front end of a vehicle must be designed to protect pedestrians in the event of a collision. This includes the provision of crumple zones and deformable structures.
      2) The front end of a vehicle must not project more than 3.05 metres (10 feet) beyond the front axle.

      Hey Ian, yes it’s because this was the US version so I couldn’t really comment on it.
      I did ask them about it and they didn’t seem to have any updated information at this current time, however it looks like it would need a fair bit of work to get on the UK Roads

    Considering all the layoffs and cost cutting, this event seems like an absolute waste of money as there is no chance the Cybertruck will be sold in the UK and Europe due to safety legislation. And to add insult to injury they won't even make any new RHD Model S or X

      It was a great event and I’m interested to see what the future holds for the cyber truck, would you get one?

      Which legislation says CT can’t be road legal ? Does normal truck bonnet collapse in event of accidents? It is type of bs fud folks want people to believe in. Just as ford trucks are legal. This will be too. Period.

    Let’s all smell the coffee. I think that it is a lousy truck full of design faults, overpriced and will probably never sell in UK or Europe for safety reasons. No wonder Tesla’s share price is dropping. The financial markets are not mugs.
