  • Here is a casual voiceover podcast and timelapse! Originally made back in October for patrons and now it is here for you, the public of youtube! Let's talk about motivation, figuring out what is holding you back, adjusting your goals, and more rambles that I hope will be helpful for some of you out there!
I know there have been some requests for other tutorials. They will be coming eventually, but since the amount of time I have to make tutorials is limited to about 1 a month, what tutorial is made next is decided completely by Patrons. If you want to help decide and cast your vote, you can hop on over there.

I want to draw daily because I know it’s consistency that helps me improve most.
I feel like I am held back by lack of skill a lot, so more consistent practice is very important for me to be able to get what’s in my head onto the paper or screen the way I want it.
My problem is that I am terrible with habits lol Even when I can do something daily, eventually the habit fades. I have to work on the all or nothing mindset that can sink in after missing a week because stuff got in the way.

Love the choice you made to break up the moon into a glittery outline, love it👌

For me it takes a very slow wind up to get me to think of an idea and draw it. But let me tell you, as soon as i start seeing my idea come true, i get super concentrated and 4 hours can pass by. I really only draw 2 full colored and rendered drawings per month, but at least 2 weeks goes into each drawing. I have flat-lined at this rate since the start of the year and i wish i was only a bit faster. Great takes though.

I completely relate! I’ll even forget to eat or go to the bathroom sometimes once I’m taken in by and idea. But I really want to be able to do that more often

Love your painting here, great work.
I originally got into drawing for fun but the past few years I have gotten too wrapped up in a design and "how to be a professional artist" mindset (too many tutorials). I lost sight of why I wanted to do art. Thank you for reminding me what is really important to my motivation.

I work full time and quite often overtime, so I am quite tired all the time. Sometimes I wonder whether I really want to draw if I don't force myself to make time for it. But I have been drawing every now and then since I was a little kid and for the past few years I have been actively watching tutorials and art stuff. But at the end, when I have some time I sit and panic over what to draw. I don't feel motivated because I will not draw anything nice. If I decide to draw something that is already drawn (like copying an artist), I do it perfectly, but if I decide to think of something myself, it's a nightmare and I am always sure the result will be trash, so I rarely even start. I don't want to be copying other people's work, although I know it's a good exercise. I always remind myself that I need to learn the basics and to not rush, but I don't feel fulfilled drawing circles and cylinders. It's partially because I am 33 and I feel like there is no time left for me to be patient and start from 0, but I also know that my basics are missing as I have never studied art in any way. It's just all a huge mess that ends up with staring at the wall and doing nothing in the few free hours I have during the weekend.

I'm in the same boat! I'm 28 and just started drawing this year. It's frustrating when you're not at the skill level you want to be at to be proud of what you'rd drawing. Getting to that point takes a lot of time and practice that some of us just don't have a lot of! I find that when I get frustrated, I just do some tracing or watch a tutorial. Having something, even if it's not 100% from scratch, is still practice and has helped me get through the slumps!

I was wondering if there is some way fans like me could send you images that they would like to see you make in your style. I looked for a way to message you on Twitch but didn't see anything.
