Excellent watch! loved how this was made as I lived by for so many years and know that part of the domain very well. Thank you for posting Nga Taonga and Vision
I hope so. Trams were the only public transport system that ever worked. Getting rid of them was such a mistake another shot in the foot by a not very bright auckland city council.
They could only go where the rails go, so not very flexible. The overhead wires were something of an eyesore. Rails on the road were hazardous to pedestrians crossing the road. Trams couldn't go around any obstacles if necessary. I seem to recall they were very noisy and clunky too. A few ended up at MOTAT. I'm sure modern trams are quite different to the ones from the 1950s though.
Amazing footage between 1956 to 2019
Beautiful video, love it , going to share everywhere on my social media platform, keep it up 👍
I like trams
Wow amazing footage
i’m kiwi and i never knew queen street had trams wow that’s so cool !
Now you know
The trams used to go out quite a way to some of the suburbs too - Pt Chevalier, Onehunga etc.
Fascinating. Love this stuff. Not a fan of the 1920s plinky -plonk upright piano soundtrack though.
Be good to know if you have more of the trams. I have a some on a VHS tape.
love this thank you
Life before social media 🥺 everyone looked forward to something now

Thank you, we are glad you enjoyed it!
My carpenter grandfather made coffins during the 1918 flue epidemic underneath the domain grandstand, for the govt I think.
Good job 👍
I remember riding the trams as a little girl. Do you think Auckland will get them back. Sydney has them now after removing them in the 50s.
We really hope so, it gives the cities their in so much more character :)
I didnt know that. Thanks for the update.

Auckland Transport have plans of adding a Light-rail system connecting the CBD to the Airport at some point.
Excellent!
Fantastic
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow !!!!
Highlights very little change/development over past 70yrs,especially from Wesllely street to K Road.
Wow had trams back then, why take them away
Big oil
For obvious reasons everything got upgraded
The Retro Decade Revival Project will bring trams back into the public mainstream.

1.05 the Civic is on the left looking up Queen street ,flipped photo lol
It's not looking up Queen Street, it's Wellesley St. The film is correct.
the country has gone. I wish the old days stayed forever
I don't like the 2019 version of Auckland early Auckland is good and the music is very good Thank You
Now look at it. You'd be lucky to walk the length of Queen Street at night without being assaulted. What a shame.
@@jank85 worse. Wokeness in the form of government and their sympathetic voters.

A city full of promise only to be reduced to a mediocre expensive South Pacific port.
