Benny is never a mistake to save one from the crusher. You can save it, will it be concourse? It will be whatever YOUR vision. Screw the haters, Buddy. Nice save.
Benny you did the right thing saving it…so glad you have been able to source many of the needed parts. Sort it out mechanically…cover it in Shine Juice…drive it for a while and if you like it get it a quick scuff and spray or sell it onto someone who will paint it.
HI BEN,,, THESE CARS WERE GREAT CARS IN ITS DAY AND STILL ARE ,,LOOK AT THAT NOSE THERE GREAT!!! YOU SAID YOUR HOT THE WEATHER WELL THAT CAR IS MORE HOTTTER THAN YOU ,, IT GOT BURNT..YOUR A COOL DUDE GREAT VIDEO!!! YOU CAN SAVE HER ,,YES!! YES!!... DO YOUR BEST WITH HER.. PEACE......
I'm happy you saved it and are collecting parts to put her back on the road. I really love 1968 to 1972 Pontiacs. Some people don't like 1970 full size Pontiac front ends, but I always thought they looked great and were distinctive.
I like the little voice in your head, and I agree. I did it years ago. I bought a car that was an inch from the crusher. I felt sorry for it and bought it for $260.00. Less than $300.00 out the door. I fixed it up and drove it for seven years. I am still kicking myself for getting rid of it. She will be beautiful when it's done.
You definitely didn't make a mistake saving that from the crusher. I have a 67 Pontiac that would have ended up there too. How many Executive 2 doors could possibly left? Thanks for all your great videos!
Whoa Nelley, 1970 and didn't have to go. You will get it running because those Pontiac V8s are pretty stout. The Pontiac Executive was offered from 1967 to 1970 and 1970 was the lowest production year at 21,936 units. The Bonneville replaced it in the line for the 1970 model year. I agree, it was near a fire source of some sort. Too bad there's no history on it. Bill McDavid Pontiac was located at 2917 West Seventh, Fort Worth TX, 76107 and this appears to be part of the Fidelty building that's now there with some addresses combined. In 1959, they had a promotion whereby you'd get a one year supply of tissues when you bought a new Pontiac there. Not correct, there are reproduction fuel tanks available. Since your car appears to have a 400 V8 with a two barrel, I believe it was around 265 gross horsepower. With some tuning, it can be a good runner. Pontiac V8s don't like to (or need to) be revved high to make power. Possibly an old Ajax floor jack or maybe a Blackhawk. Send any numbers you find on it to Lazzar's Hydraulics and they will likely have a manual or a rebuilding kit for it. My "everyday" floor jack is a 1984 era Walker 93632 1.5 ton unit that was being tossed out. I only bled it, added fluid and changed the universal joint (sometime later) and I'm still using it over 10 years later. I've got a healed scar on my head from repairing it, but that's a story for another time. I've got that same light. That one looks like a Braun, mine is an Icon that someone gave me recently. Handy light for when I go on business trips (which I will be doing again very shortly). I have the parts microfiche for this car. It's covered on the 1965-1975 Pontiac 10/10A parts catalog or as the cover of the book says "Through 1975", as in some cases it goes back much earlier than 1975. The last publication of that catalog was in 1983 and it has not been revised since. As someone else pointed out, it still has the OEM under hood light in place and I'd bet it might even work. No VIN, can't win, but easy to figure out, no doubt: 2 for Pontiac, 56 for Executive, 37 for two door hardtop, 0 for 1970 model year, possible P for Pontiac, MI assembly (closed in 1988), X for Fairfax, KS assembly (closed in 1987, Fairfax II still operates as of this writing), E for Linden, NJ assembly (closed in 2005), or C for Southgate, CA assembly (closed in 1982), and the rest is the production sequence. No tag, can't brag, but easy to figure out, no doubt: ST70 for 1970 model year, 25687 for Pontiac (2) Executive (56) two door hardtop (37), P for Pontiac, MI assembly, X for Fairfax, KS assembly, E for Linden, NJ assembly or BC for Southgate, CA assembly, 546 or 556 for Green interior trim, possible 45 for Paliside Green lower exterior paint, possible 10 for Polar White exterior paint, among other codes. Whoa Nelley, Poncho got a new honcho. That's not it, not time to quit. The fire wasn't that dire. 400 and I'll bet it still goes. NOS is the best. Painted green and still looks mean. Benny spent a good penny. Not going to be flat and that was that. $350 and not a lot of dough. Thank goodness it did not get squished because all of the Pontiac faithful, apparently Benny and yup for sure the Google Man would have been very, very, very, very, very pissed.
Ive looked and cant find a fuel tank for these big 69/70 Pontiacs. I bought one from a 70 Buick Electra and it wasn't the same. Can't find a new correct sending unit either. I don't mind using a tank from an olds or Chevy but dont think those ate bolt in either
I HAVE KEYS UNDER THE HOOD ALSO,, AND IN MY WALLET... YA!! GOT TO DO A PART 2 ON IT... THE ENGINE LOOKS GOOOOD.. DID YOU SAY YOU HAVE A TITLE!!!!! LOOKS LIKE SOMEONE WENT TO WORK WITH IT DAILY..
Please Benny Do Some Videos of Rebuilding this Bitchin Ride, I will do Searching for you to help get parts it would be so interesting to see the process of putting Her back on the Road, it's so Rare to see a 2 Door Poncho like this. I wish I had your email address because I am going to start a Parts Search. Thank you Benny for Saving Her you didn't make a mistake By buying her and saving it from the crusher Good Job 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
21,936 Executives made in 1970, almost all were four doors. This one has the base 400 2 barrel TH400. Yours is the first one that I can remember seeing since the 1970's. It might not make a lot of sense financially, but even as a rusty rat it would be cool to see this back on the road.
Congrats Benny. Not a mistake at all- an opportunity. Aside from your own Executive that you mention in videos, how many of these do you see around? Not many I’d imagine. Keeping them on the road is what it’s all about. You have the know how and the connections to get this thing going again. I’m biased I guess- I’ve gone to car shows and cruise ins with my car (77 Regal) and get some good feedback, and lots of thumbs ups. But there’s always the guys who smirk at it because it’s not a Chevelle or a Charger or a Mustang, etc. I like the rare birds. We’re only getting older and they don’t make these anymore, so the rarer the better. Good luck with it. I wish I had parts for it I’d gladly send them your way 😀
Yes, that’s me 😀 77 Regal S/R with Hurst Hatch option. And yes, what a small world we live in. When my buddy told me he worked with the “Googleman” I couldn’t believe it.
@@geegee8380 Indeed, he does and I've seen photos of that Regal that he's showed me. It's code 29 Dark Blue from what I remember. At least that's how it appears in the photos I've seen of it.
What you want to do is... dump about 40 grand into it to make showroom new again, then daily drive it. It will be better then any new car and you will be too cool for school in that ride.
Congrats on the purchase. She looks strange especially the "face", but after everything is installed - trims, grill, caps and such and some paint and she just might look good.
That car brings back memory my neighbor years ago had one just like it but it was gold. I always liked them models i like the grills and front end they remind me of a stutz.
Just about any V8 car from this era is worthy of saving. Especially a Pontiac. You definitely did the right thing. Looks like you could turn it into a respectable daily driver at the very least. I’d venture to say you’d have the only one. But if not there’s enough there to get your $ back then some. Although it’s a 400 2bbl, it’s still a desirable 400 block. There’s probably a turbo 400 behind it. The rear end is rare and if it has a decent ratio or even a posi, that’s worth something since those have 0 aftermarket support and occasionally there is someone looking for parts for it. But if you can, I’d bring it back to life.
You did good ! 300 hp motor. With 4 barrel you will 325 hp. Ride is so good ! Rally ll 'S. Will make the car. You are obviously excited to have this car . Keep it for yourself ! I'm glad you saved her. I've never seen one of these in person and she looks so closely to a 70 caprice with the side rear windows. I hope there are more than 1in 10 people who would save this car. I'm not a pontiac,Olds or Buick person (bowties and caddies are my thing) but this car is very saveable in wagon form 8d keep her myself as wagons in any make ,model or vintage yes even an escort or tercel are still cool

You say that car is a "mistake"? No, it's not. I bought a '78 Mercury Grand Marquis, and quite frankly, that car steered me away from Ford products forever.
Park it in front of your house for months - then buy your fleeing neighbours houses dirtcheap , remove the Pontiac , sell the houses at a good price and use the funds to restore the Pontiac. What could possibly go wrong 😂
I've been keeping count. There isn't any piece that doesn't need repair or replace. She probably cooked in the sun spontaneous combustion type situation
Benny and the jets cool video you got most of the parts and it's a two door. It looks like it will run good what is the mileage on it. You will start to like it better if you shoot some primer over the front it will look much better and it will help you get started.
Dude , give her a good cleaning , remove all the really bad exterior parts . throw a coat of sealer / primer on her , And it will still take your breath away !
That year had the horn coolant fans right next to the headlights. The horns would run out of coolant frequently and the fans would kick in overtime. They just don't engineer this kind of technology nowadays. Just throw away the horns when they overheat
