In india (my country for example), when people are forced to marry someone who is a decade or more older, nobody reacts. But when 2 persons fall in love and decide to marry regardless age, origin, religion, the world goes crazy.

People (Alert : not talking about everyone, before my fellow Indians get offended) stay together for several reasons : women can't get a divorce since they are not financially independent so they rather stay with their husbands for the sake of their children. And so do men, because they need a woman to do house chores and take care of their children. I witnessed this scenario in my family and in my friends family too. I mean what's the point of marriage if there is no love but business. So it's better to get a divorce like in the USA and find a person who is more compatible.

When you put it in thought like that, yes it can definitely be strange sounding. But when older and an adult things are different and you connect with people different. My husband is only 2.5 years older than me but my friends are are older than me. To all the people saying her husband will die before her, you never know what life will bring. My first husband and father of my daughter got leukemia at 21...barely 21. He died at 23. Our baby was 18 months. So saying how will you like to be a widow at 35 is ignorant. He has a beautiful spouse and is in love with a young spirit. I foresee a long happy life together.
Anyway, the love I had with Ryan I don’t regret. He was my first love and he got a chance to be a father. Would I go back and change it because he got sick, and I was heartbroken? Never. It’s not the years you have but the love in your years.

My ex is 17 years older than me and we were happy for a very long time. He is a month younger than my mum lol. The only problem we ever had in relation to our age difference was because of his family. His mum and sister in particular hated me, they figured I was using him.
