    Beautiful sticks. I throw kylies too

    Awesome job! Those are beautiful and functional..I might have to put making one of those on my todo list! I've done a fair amount of throwing with improvised very rough sticks made on the spot.. I had no idea how a refined stick can exponentially increase performance! that;s really remarkable! Thanks for posting and sharing!
    Best regards!

    Can you do a video giving an explanation for how it works and also how to tune them once you slap the proper airfoil on it? Lots of examples out there but not many explanations for how it works.

      I think a more symmetrical shape works better other wise they flip when to windy.

    I would love to learn how to make one. I respect your knowledge. But if the 1day workshop was closer to $50-$70 range, I think you could attract more people

      Thanks for the recommendation. I lowered the fee to $100. 00
      This is $100.00 for two full days and includes materials. They are a lot of work and for a beginner, you need two days.

    They fly realy Well. Awesome Job. I'll started to make some Rabbits ticks and struggle a little with the Fine Tuning. Some explaining would be very Nice.

    It would have been a big help if we could have see a s motion of how you grip, how you throw, and how you release.

    Beautiful and awesome! Got a question: I know we call these rabbit sticks but before the horse could these be used against the legs of bison in order to hobble it from a distance so it could be finished with arrow or spear? Would it injure a leg such that a bison would fall behind the herd?

    Native peoples of Southern California used rabbit sticks as well.

    I like to make mine out of the native mahogany in the area. Very very heavy hardwood you just have to be careful while drying it so it doesn't split

    How does one go about tuning it? By the time I think the shape I made is correct, and it doesn't fly llike I would want it to, what gives me information about which part to sand down for example?

    Was wondering... Is a boomerang just a modified rabbit stick? True hunting boomerangs do not return or only semi return?

  • @Grzz51

    I've watched several videos on Rabbit sticks.......no one shows just how accurate and deadly they can be, they just throw the sticks across a big open field. In my 76 years I've yet to see a rabbit more than 10 inches above the ground.

    here their rabbitsticks, in australia, boomerangs, all aboriginal people's at one time or another developed similar weaponry for hunting or war.

    • @SurvivalAussie
      @SurvivalAussie 4 года назад

      "Boomerangs" come from the Dharug language and mean returning throwing sticks. Non returning are called other names such as Kali, Karli, etc

  • @jackvoss5841
    @jackvoss5841 7 месяцев назад

    Throwing it across that large field, did not demonstrate a hunting technique. It demonstrates a playing technique. Throwing at rabbit-sized targets at hunting ranges, say, 15 to 35 yards, would demonstrate some target practice for actual hunting.

    Rabbit sticks in Australia must predate the arrival of rabbits. I once made a poachers stick but it wasn't as cool as that.
