I would have guessed a ballooned a converter based on your data you described, but I never would have guess that much carnage.
Quality converter to, look how good its brazed, they do a great job on them

Good luck to sort out both your trans and converter failure. Question is...did one cause the other to fail. No doubt your trans expert would have best insight into whether the converter failure could actually cause a trans failure or visa versa. Probability wise, it seems unlikely both would fail therefore it seems likely one or the other caused both to fail.

Even it's not the only "smokin' gun" - - I gotta think it was better to find that there was something wrong in the mix than find nothing at all unusual - - my hats off to you guys to keep diggin' after it. I'm really curious what you guys think caused that damage inside the torque converter - maybe you'll be able to offer some thoughts about it later on.

I hear what your saying but I've always have been the type to ask myself why did that break that being said its racing and with that much power things are going to break. Its awesome to watch you and Jackie working it reminds me of back in the day my wife would help on pulling engines in our driveway them were the days. Jackie. I’m 5’ 2” and work on buses, my bay partner is probably right at 6’ we work on a lift and in the summer on the same shift. The struggle is real. I don’t know how much more my shoulders can take.
A good running engine will use the transmission and differential as the sacrificial lamb now rebuild the transmission and converter and go back and play. I have also ripped up my converter on my 200 4r in my GTO Pull ing transmission this weekend building a stout Pontiac engine for it as well. You're not going fast unless you're breaking stuff. That’s some bad welds. You will get it figured out I’m sure. Maybe something in the communications from the computer to the motor idk. But I’m sure y’all will figure it out. Much respect for you both

What do you guys think abouts swanstrom and odem? I feel like guessing the light is s a part of street racing and swanstrom made a bad bet since you can't prove it. The best guess was when Cali Chris vs birdman and after that win Chris goes and disappears. I hope he is ok
friend that always shows up at car shows in his grand national. then one year I didn't see his car listed as judged spot. BUT! I found him walking among other cars, so we met up and talked. Turns out his son blew grand nationals transmission out trying to show off. He was mad but happy that he knew it was time to upgrade the transmission so past 8 months ( then) it was at shop due to logistics issues. He have since upgraded his transmission and a few electronic goodies for his car. He did take a look at blown transmissions, the vanes like in the video was completely bent some simply split off from the donut. I said what the? did his son redline for minutes?!

The best and easiest way to figure everything out is to put a Pontiac engine in the car
That way you could share parts plus you are Mr.Pontiac and you know everything about it and it just makes sense

Could converter pressure cause that? Seen a guy called turbo john did something where he drilled a hole snd uses a nitrous jet to set his fluid pressure but he runs a glide so idk if you already have that done or not but check it out if you dont and you think fluid Pressure could be the issue! I dont know thats why im asking you may already know that little trick

Wow. The welding of the find in the tc are horrible. Look at all the inconsistencies in edge of the fins. You can see where the material blew out and left perfect spots for a crack to start. For the money spent on that, that’s sad.

Am i wrong or do the welds inside the converter look like shit? Last time i have seen such welds was when we had a bunch of new welders in the shop for training.
