I don't know what Heejae meant when she said BL and gay are different because BL is fantasy but one of the big differences is that BL is usually set in a world where people are not ostracized or killed for being in a same-gender relationship. It's not always 100% accepted throughout the whole series or by every character but BL ends with the main couple happily being in a relationship.

she meant that bl is targeted toward women is not often an actual representation of gay relationships and realities, bl tends to have a fetishising element to them although recently that has changed a bit. I loved that she said that because I hate when people call real gay people/couples bl as if they're just characters in some manga they're reading or show they're watching.

To clarify what Heejae said, BL is historically always been written by straight women for straight women as fantasy instead of targetting gay audiences (although they definitely can enjoy these shows). This is particularly obvious in the past, as the Thai BL film industry used to actively hire only straight men so straight women could enjoy the fantasy of the BL couple, but also the irl fantasy of the men themselves. That being said, there is a lot of controversy in the Thai film industry over how actors are treated, their contracts and pay, the irl shipping and fan service, etc and only recently have Thai BL productions started using the shows as a platform to speak out about Thailand's laws against gay marriage and gay rights... and hired openly gay actors. Also, I think it was intended a bit for homophobic ppl or ppl who are like "oh this video is about gay stuff, it doesn't relate to me". In reality, the couples in BL are just like any other couple... these shows are just romantic comedies between two men, making it a "BL" series.
I don’t think Heejae was making commentary on the issue with exploiting queer stories to fit a heterosexual female gaze though, I feel like this comment reinforced it. It's not really what she meant in those terms though. Historically these stories really had no basis in reality of love between men because they are stories written by women for women. Most in the past just had two straight people who fell in love because love has no gender and no one ever admitted to being gay and no one ever had previous gay relationship and no one ever would be in a gay relationship with any other person other than who the writers paired them with. Gay stories would never operate in this way as they operate in reality - you are born who you are and would have had or will have other partners and you know you are gay from the get go such as in coming out stories etc. Historically, BL stories and writers just made stuff up that are inaccurate to real life and thus this is what she meant by 'fantasy'.

Just bcs bl started off as smth written by women, for women, for their pleasure, doesn't mean it isn't fetishization👍 it's still weird asf for straight women to watch gay couples for pleasure, esp since it's so unrealistic. (It's fine if you do it for the story, but yk damn well people still only watch it for the unrealistic s3x scenes) Just bcs it started that way, doesn't mean it's a good thing it still is that way. People are always gonna fetishize it, but the least you could do, is to not promote it in a way that promotes fetishization. And BL is still gay stuff. It's still abt gay couples after all. I kinda understand what she means, with that BL isn't related to shows abt realistic queer romance, but as far as I know, some of these shows, have realistic parts to them, so explaining it like that, was kinda weird.
I always hate these kinda videos of Koreans reacting to BL because they only react to hot scenes. You're right, people who only enjoy the "steamy" parts of BL are just fetishizing gay relationships and this type of reaction videos do not help in normalizing BL as another romance genre. Instead, they're helping people strengthen this misconception that BL is only two guys kissing and having sex.
@@ddiwa_ @diwa yeah, and it doesn't help that alot of this comment section are just defending it, cause it's not gonna help them learn anything. They keep on saying it's mostly just happy and romantic content, but I know most of the shows in this video have realistic parts to them, and shows alot of real lgbtq+ struggles, proving that bl has become so much more than just happy shows created for women's pleasure. And the fact that they choose to show only the sexual parts of it, is really weird and fetishizing, and isn't gonna teach anyone anything. People keep on saying these shows are so good for spreading lgbtq+ awareness etc. But in reality, it's not helping much, when they set such unrealistic standards of what a queer relationship is like. I understand what they're trying to do, and they have definitely become more open to it, but that doesn't mean the way they're doing it is a good way:/

7:48 Oh Seungwoo, you always make my day. 😂😂😂 I love everything you do. Lol ❤✨
Watching Heejae and Seungwoo's reactions was entertaining. The best is the Awesome World channel, which is constantly adding fresh material. Seeing how they respond to various content pieces each day is quite fun. Keep the good work Awesome World.
Thought Love In The Air would be one of them I held my breath for a moment-
I'm a teenager boy from India 🇮🇳 and I really agree with Heejae like real gays and bl series are different ,series like frictional world , as in 2020 pandemic I've started to till now im a big fan of c drama and k dramas I unexpectedly found this bl drama's my first bl drama was unexpectedly "Addicted" a Chinese drama first I don't know the genre because I watched c dramas on RUclips so I dont know what genre meaning is so i thought it was some high school stuff some life as u refer title addicted i thought it's about drugs some illegal stuff and I am pretty familiar with two main leads as I've seen them in c dramas then after my sister recommend me a drama Thai drama called" Together" I really like the drama and i doubt my self is it normal or I really boys love drama's next during drama I went in comments section the majority are girls no doubt but some of they say they share/ recommend this drama to their straight friends and they like it too then I literally understand that it's normal for straight guys to watch them.
Yes I've watched 70 + c drams
40+ k dramas
40 + bl dramas ( Chinese, Korean, Japanese, fallopian, Mostly Thai, and Taiwan)
💯💯💯
Recommendations on good BL dramas? Happy endings preferred
Heaje expression is so funny ...😅😅😅
Heejae is literally me when watching BLs 😅 love her energy
I'm a simple person
I see BL in awesome world
I click
I remember when I watched my first BL show I didn't know what BL stood for. It all felt really natural so it wasn't a big shock for me, but after I learned what BL stood for I did have that "'aha" moment where everything made a bit more sense lol
Old fashioned cupcake has my heart.
It's so funny because I just finished watching About Youth yesterday 😂
Being first after many days again feeling so relieved😁🥺
The girls reactions are so satisfying😂😂 I would react the same way
I was definitely waiting for my *Thai bls*
We bl watchers better not suggest them our hot bl series list , reactions gonna be there ,kinnporsche type list 🤭🤭😂
Seungwoo is hilarious , trying not to look at certain parts 😅
I really liked the video, but I liked the most is the nine times that the Warcraft Murloc has sounded
Wow the lady really knows the stuff lol
"Too deep for the first kiss". Girls, if you had seen my first kiss at the back of the volleyball court after practice, you'd be so shocked... 😂
"WHY HE ISN'T DOING IT? WHY NOT?"
Yes we did it.. WE HAVE ANOTHER FAN OF BLS🤩🤩🤩
I was waiting for a Thai serie 😂😂😂😂. But i suposed they knew that they would need some doctors there in that case 😂😂😂😂😂😂
just want to point out that acting visibly uncomfortable and weirded out by gay couples is homophobic and is an internal prejudice that should be worked on bc it’s rlly dehumanizing to have ppl grossed out by our existence and our relationships
gay people tend to be very sensitive to the amount of homophobia and tend to see problems where there is none.
@@toji1749 orrrrrrrrr….maybe there are problems everywhere and you just don’t realize it??? cause ur whole statement itself is wrong AND homophobic 💀💀💀
@@toji1749 any amount of homophobia isn’t ok LMAO
OHHHHH!!! That japan OLD FASHION CUPCAKE !!! Love that drama....I give 10/10...but short !!
I'm a little confused by what they said at the start....In what world is BL and Gay not the same thing, and why would we need to "imagine" it's fantasy. Telling people to pretend it's Harry Potter is like telling people being gay is not real 😑😑
Exactly!! I'm so confused by what she said 😳!! When BL is literally about the gay/ homosexual people
Please research the history of the BL genre vs Queer/LGBTQIA Cinema and then you will understand what she meant.
7:52 Hum... I'm older than Seungwoo, interested in this idea, not shy 🤣 But I live in France 🤦🏻♀️ So bad🤦🏻♀️🤣 But for sure, volunteers won't be missing 🤣
i love like "Cherry Blossom After Winter" is cute 🥰
I love watching bl series even though am straight women but still I like these series so much 😊
its fine as long as u don't fetishize real life gay men
My BL/GL community is soooo diverse it’s for anyone and everyone as long as you enjoy it and leave the homophobia elsewhere you’re fine
How did I not know that cherry blossoms after winter has a SHOW! It was the first bl comic I read- I have to find it and watch it now
3:27 WAIT! This is my favorite manhwa AAAAA AAAAA AAAAA AAA 😭😭❤
Seungwoo is my favorite. There, I said it! ❤️❤️❤️
I wonder if they heard about Semantic Error or Light On Me since the actors are more mainstream
SO APPRECIATE FOR OLD CUPCAKE! IT'S MY FAVOURITE!
Actually I like Thailand bl style , but korean bl same good, with romantic style , thanks for your reaction guys
Saranghae 💕🤗
you mean unrealistic? because 90 percent of thai dramas are either toxic relationships or unrealistic ones. also most thai bl actors can't act to save their lives.
I was waiting for one of the Thai BL series to show up, and you know the Thai BL industry is enormous. I'm disappointed it's not shown. Let's see if they show us on the next BL video upload~ 😭😭😭
They sud have included kinnporche la forte series from thailand....i wud have loved to see their reaction to the love scenes😂
Omg yes😂😂♥️
Nobody tell Seung Woo that he only saw the sweet stuff, and not the spicy stuff
At 3:53, the added grumbling voice at what he was saying took me out. 😭💀
it was really short but still enjoyed it....awesome world is my fav..

Oh I love bl series I am in the middle of 3 series right now. Love in the air, eclipse and fahlanruk. I am always suffering because i am always wating for the next episode but they are just so good. Can't wait for love syndrome to start.
I love BL so much. ❤️ The best of the best is obviously Semantic error ❤️😀🥰
All girls happiness is clearly seen in the hosts face
Just bcs bl started off as smth written by women, for women, for their pleasure, doesn't mean it isn't fetishization👍 it's still weird asf for straight women to watch gay couples for pleasure, esp since it's so unrealistic. (It's fine if you do it for the story, but yk damn well people still only watch it for the unrealistic s3x scenes)
Just bcs it started that way, doesn't mean it's a good thing it still is that way.
I understand what they're trying to do, and they have definitely become more open to it, but that doesn't mean the way they're doing it is a good way:/
I’m always happy when they react to BL scenes ~ next time include KINNPORSCHE and 1000STARS my 2 most loved series ever
