The difference between Arnold Schwarzenegger movies and Dwayne Johnson movies is that Arnold's were analogous to pre-franchise era restaurants that were nutritious, satisfying and unique whereas Dwayne's movies are like McDonalds, cheap, predictable and everywhere.
He’s been this way since he started acting. But the shifting point for me was his role in furious 7. Breaking out of a cast and then using the minigun off of a drone. I was checked out after that moment.
Dave Bautista take acting roles that will showcase his acting ranges. Dwayne Johnson is the definition of a sellout. Instead of picking roles that will challenge his acting ability along with showcasing his acting ranges. Johnson decided he wanted to be put in a box and keep playing himself over and over because being himself is his brand. I can't blame Johnson on the business side but the acting side he need to change it up.
How Black Adam is a flop? It made 400 million alone at the box office against the budget of reported 200 million. That's not a flop at the box-office. And for producer's revenue, box-office is not the only source of income. Streaming is also a huge deal and action movies have good number of viewers at the streaming platforms.
Actors like Rock is like Actors from south India. They only have one face. One move one theme, the story somehow should be made around that. Not actor adopting the character. The movie should adopt the actor That's why he has rules in his contract like his character can not loose.
sorry but you forgot a HUGE point in this video...his ego! he wont make a comeback until he stops this whole "I AM the leading man, I AM the most paid and I AM the first name on the poster" bs ;)
The problem with Dwayne Johnson as well as several "Big Name Celeb-Actors-Filmmakers" is that their talents are slowly becoming nothing more than a gimmick. People like Dwayne are mentioned to be the world's highest-grossing/paid actors, which represents their greatest in Hollywood. But that couldn't be farther than the truth. Any half competent actor/filmmaker that knows what type of movie audiences want to see can be far more memorable than what Dwayne has given us. Had it not been for his reputation, than the dude probably never even had a chance with most of his movies getting the viewership they got. Great actors and filmmakers are talented and intelligent to understand the flow of audiences and not only be able to give exceptional films/TV, but control the flow of such audience and exploit the weaknesses of other bigger celebs style and ethics, that you'd hear more buzz about those films and shows, compared to another. Now that may not make sense, so let me put an example: Say at school you notice so much buzz about the #1 student in your grade that everyone hails him as a popular prodigy, who's so amazing, yet during some competition, they get an opponent who while has some notable strengths isn't that known for being popular. And yet, somehow they managed to beat that popular student. THIS, is the issue with Dwayne and other "Big Name Celebs" and why their talents are simply gimmicks. Okay, inheriting fame from family, being a famous athlete, a vocal musician/singer, or possessing some talent that immediately gets you media-famous, will distinguish you from your peers when you're young. It gives you an INNATE strength. But that strength has a sealing. Celebrities like Dwayne have a proclivity to be hailed as geniuses or prodigies when they're in billion dollar movies. But is there ever one today famous worldwide for his/her multiple movies? Earning a recognition for their characters? Being recognize from playing so many different roles, without it feeling off? Dwayne is barely above average when it comes to his reputation in Hollywood. He's only known for his movie net worth because that's the problem. Once others can train and catch up to him, Dwayne's talents and abilities are nothing but a gimmick. You can find better shows or films, compared to his that tell such stories far more exceptional, featuring actors who either were in action movies, or started out in a different genre, but turned to action. That's why most celebs with having one memorable talent are casted in such film or shows and nothing else, and if they did try, they suck. Because that's the best usage Hollywood has for them. It doesn't matter how long Dwayne trains, practices making faces to charm people, or says whatever one-liner a thousand times. He will never come close to how he wants to be recognize, as he mentions in his Oppenheimer comment. With that said, I'm not saying that celebrities' talents are worthless. They're just gimmicks. Gimmicks can be useful but SOLELY RELYING ON THEM will get you stuck in mediocrity. There is a limit for the amount of power a celebrity with such a reputation can achieve. Which is Dwayne's biggest problem himself. That's because he refuses to learn other acting skills and techniques that aren't related to what he's famous for doing, apart from the most basic ones, he can easily learn from any director who makes the demands for his/her cast. This ignorance from Dwayne always making demands of what he wants out of his characters, like he's trying to maintain some kind of purity in Hollywood is pathetic. That's why people like me despise these kinds of celebs. And Dwayne is the worst of them all. Even the best action stars you hear about either today or from the past weren't that strict when it came to their movie choices or acting style. And sometimes, people forget that they would star in such projects that defied most people's expectations. Those are the kinds actors/actresses/filmmakers, who's talents were worth preserving. But people like Dwayne Johnson don't bother learning other acting skills, from fear that it will somehow taint their precious persona. It might be true that some aren't as inherently skilled when in comes to their roles in film or tv. But that hardly matters. To all future actors or popular folk in some other field like sports or music, who seek to break into acting, understand this: When I tell you have more potential than people like Dwayne Johnson, I mean as AN ACTOR. A FILMMAKER. Not as WHATEVER PEOPLE ONLINE KNOW YOU FOR. If you branched out and actually certain skills to act that suit your talents, using your gimmick when it's worthwhile, you would become FAR MORE INFLUENCIAL ANYWHERE. You would attain the skill to be in any movie, show, or even video game, without feeling miscast, earn an audience, and being just as famous. And it's certainly possible to learn this. Just not from celebrities like Dwayne Johnson.
@@MindfulMediaPsychology , to be honest, I’ve been waiting to say that for quite a long time after putting up with watching plenty of mediocre media and trying to find some good tv or cinema. Just didn’t know how to say it in an informative way.
I'll probably say the best times were when Bruce Lee and Arnold Schearzenegger made good movies in their prime. I cant stand these a lot of these modern movies except for Donnie Yen who stills make good movies today even Jason Statham. I also forgot Brandon Lee was close to become a global star but sadly he passed away. I cant stand the Rock, Vin Diesel even the other people nowadays. They can't beat the old school.
I like the actor the rock, but stopped watching his movies because of his no lose clause, just looking at the movie poster you know he will have plot Armour and win regardless, so you kinda know the ending lol
He hasn't step up in his acting career ability and he's the same old boring stuff in his movies. As better as character that gets a part in a movie than for him to be a Star of his own movies in which he doesn't do to well by himself as a actor. As he needs to step up his game.
The Rock is like Stallone or Schwarzenegger but without the iconic characters or classics to his name like Rambo or Terminator. Instead, his filmography is littered with bland, safe, PG-13 garbage like Fast & Furious and Jumanji. I'm glad audiences are finally getting sick of this guy.
Rampage was the last movie I watched with him, but I really struggled. I watched San Andreas because of Alexandra Daddario, but couldn’t convince myself to do the same with Bay Watch. This dude has nothing to do with acting, comes across as arrogant and fucking fake.
Was a big fan of his in the 90’s attitude era of wrestling and liked him the Run Down and GI Joe Retaliation-but hall the other movies he’s in just didn’t interest me. They almost seem cookie cutter roles these days. I wanted to like Black Adam but I sort of tuned out half way through.
Red one could have been like a remake or live action of the child movie Rise of The Guardians like Jack frost the Easter bunny the tooth fairy Santa Clause and sand man
Just my opinion, is it bad that I don’t feel comfortable being in the same room with him or whatever he says to come out his mouth I just feel like everything. The last couple years that he’s done feels like a corrupt scam. You know what I mean, just more money in his pocket my opinion.
The Rock can't really act and he comes across as a phony who's opinion is whatever he thinks is the popular opinion at the time. Nothing about him seems authentic.
You need longer pauses between sentences and please try to speak more clearly and slower. I am not a native English speaker and hardly understand anything. I don't have problems with most other English channels.
Lol As his new movie approaches $500 million worldwide lol. Stop it, everyone of your favorite actors had their fair share of flops. If hes the "biggest joke" it's sad hes so much more successful than majority of other actors in Hollywood lol.
Who cares? Red one wouldnt have made a dime if you put any other actor in it. Black adam was ok, but was ruijed by the constant shifting of direftions with the dceu, the fast franchise has made considerably less since he's left, and lets be honest, his flops are usually something that we should be praising. The red one was mid but at least it eas an original ip. The rock is one of the last guys in hollywood that can make an original ip into a hit. Its kind of getting annoying the way RUclipsrs try to make outrage out of anything. The rock is nearly a billionaire, i dont see why he has to dance like a monkey for these fans. He wants to be the stallone type action star, let him. He doesnt have to be in some crazy where hes balling his eyes out on screen. That would be cool, but the reason ppl likr the rock is because his characters are relatable, funny, and down to earth. John cena wants to play the funny, dumb muscle head, bautista yells..very pointless vid

The difference between Arnold Schwarzenegger movies and Dwayne Johnson movies is that Arnold's were analogous to pre-franchise era restaurants that were nutritious, satisfying and unique whereas Dwayne's movies are like McDonalds, cheap, predictable and everywhere.
The moment Dwayne endorsed Biden, he died for me. 👎🏽💩👎🏽
Ya like he gives a damn about your 2 cents or your con man president trump
@gregorypearce7468 nobody gives a damn about you either Gregory...enjoy the next four years, I'm sure I will! 😆😂😅
He went back to the WWE and named himself the final boss without being in the company for YEARS. That pretty much explains Dwayne.
Sad that his current success is an animated movie, as in Moana. He can't keep depending on franchises and sequels to make box office money
Just watch Bautista and do exactly what he does. That guy is killing it and a surprisingly good actor.
Actors are getting paid way too much. We need to go back to paying actors a base salary and commission based on how the movie does.
Bring back the flat top, sideburns, shades and people's eyebrow. This might revive his charisma
Haha where's the iconic eyebrow?! 🤨
Actors like Rock is like Actors from south India. They only have one face. One move one theme, the story somehow should be made around that. Not actor adopting the character. The movie should adopt the actor That's why he has rules in his contract like his character can not loose.
Dwayne Johnson is the Nickelback of Hollywood
He's been playing the same role for the past 15 years. It's like he got stuck being The Rock and he can't get out.
Multi millionaire actor, household name, instantly recognisable to most people - wouldn’t exactly call that a flop!!
sorry but you forgot a HUGE point in this video...his ego! he wont make a comeback until he stops this whole "I AM the leading man, I AM the most paid and I AM the first name on the poster" bs ;)
Yeah that's a GREAT point, and some people hate him for it: people.com/movies/dwayne-johnson-vin-diesel-feud-timeline/
The rundown is so much fun though
i wish he would try dramatic roles like Gridiron Gang and Snitch
Now that may not make sense, so let me put an example:
Say at school you notice so much buzz about the #1 student in your grade that everyone hails him as a popular prodigy, who's so amazing, yet during some competition, they get an opponent who while has some notable strengths isn't that known for being popular.
To all future actors or popular folk in some other field like sports or music, who seek to break into acting, understand this:
When I tell you have more potential than people like Dwayne Johnson, I mean as AN ACTOR.
Thank you for the longest comment EVER on the channel!! 😂
Appreciate you taking the time for such a detailed analysis...
Yeah fair!! I wonder if them having such big muscles too makes them seem even more unrelateable..?
@@MindfulMediaPsychology not really. Those kind of overrated people don't belong in hollywood.
He doesn't have a real acting range at this point. He always plays himself in every movie
I used to love this guy.
Emphasis on "used to"
Daman SAVAGE out here!! 😂
RUclips video of the year 2024 ✅✅✅
Haha appreciate you!!! Let's see how many views it gets...
Let us know if there are any other topics you want us to explore - thank you!! :)
@@MindfulMediaPsychology how the rocks father Vince MURDERED Owen Hart.
Robert downey jr went from unhireable to type cast by the mcu to back to unhireable again 😂
There's literally ZERO movies worth watching that has this guy in it.
DAMN savage!! 😂 There's not one movie you liked? Not even Fast and Furious?
@MindfulMediaPsychology Of course! I like quality movies, like Top Gun Maverick, Casino Royale, etc. not F&F
Nahhh Moana was great altho I heard the sequel was hot garbage
Theatergoers are fickle anyway. Just be frugal from now on and live on what you've already made.
why rock have so much hater i cant belive that his my hero since i was10 now after 20years still is damn good
Hes number 1 at the box office right now
Thank you for bringing this up dude. Currently he is the biggest clown of the movie industry , i have no doubts.
I like the actor the rock, but stopped watching his movies because of his no lose clause, just looking at the movie poster you know he will have plot Armour and win regardless, so you kinda know the ending lol
I mean, he plays the same character in every movie.
The Rock is rocksteady
Lol for now yes - his Instagram and his loyal following is probably his greatest asset
Hollywood biggest flop is Hollywood itself.
How dare you call The Rock a flop. If he's a flop then Hulk Hogan is a flop😂
Somebody finally said it.
He must play a character who losses or gets completely defeated as playing the villain
Agreed - we need more depth and variety in his portrayals...
Thought he was great in WWE. Never thought he was a great actor.
Yeah fair
I wish I was a massive flop like Dwayne Johnson.
I wouldn’t mind having a great body, fame and hundreds of millions in the bank
He hasn't step up in his acting career ability and he's the same old boring stuff in his movies. As better as character that gets a part in a movie than for him to be a Star of his own movies in which he doesn't do to well by himself as a actor. As he needs to step up his game.
The Rock is like Stallone or Schwarzenegger but without the iconic characters or classics to his name like Rambo or Terminator. Instead, his filmography is littered with bland, safe, PG-13 garbage like Fast & Furious and Jumanji. I'm glad audiences are finally getting sick of this guy.
We already know that a movie is going to be bad if this dude is in it
biggest flop?
The Rock - Gets More Pie in a week Than You Do In A Life Time.
Red one could have been like a remake or live action of the child movie Rise of The Guardians like Jack frost the Easter bunny the tooth fairy Santa Clause and sand man
It is official. The Rock has become a Gary stu. I repeat. The Rock has become a Gary stu.
Damn RIP 😂😂
tooth fairy or some 2000s and early 2010s kid movies from him
there was a time, he did a lot of family friendly movies
Just my opinion, is it bad that I don’t feel comfortable being in the same room with him or whatever he says to come out his mouth I just feel like everything. The last couple years that he’s done feels like a corrupt scam. You know what I mean, just more money in his pocket my opinion.
The Rock can't really act and he comes across as a phony who's opinion is whatever he thinks is the popular opinion at the time. Nothing about him seems authentic.
Yeah that's the thing - if you can't share that you're human and you're not "a rock", it's kinda hard to relate to you... Sure it's cool, but still...
Save the world rocky 0:36
Dave has range
You need longer pauses between sentences and please try to speak more clearly and slower. I am not a native English speaker and hardly understand anything. I don't have problems with most other English channels.
He should consider the role of the T800 in a new darker Terminator film.
TOTALLY!! Give us something original to work with...
people dont have money to waste on garbage
Yep! You don't have to go to the cinema when you have streaming lol...
How's he a flop when he still brings in millions
Dwayne peaked in the Scorpion King.
RIP - savage! 😂
The Rock Dwayne Johnson is the new Steven Seagal. A narcissist that always play himself in every movie he's in, and cannot loose any fight.
Yeah, even if we just saw him STRUGGLE on camera, that would go a long way...
I'll "Play A Game" where I find out the fastest I can dislike and "Don't Recommend Channel".
He is at a decline
The rock has become like segal, arnold and hulkhogan. Think about that!!!!!!!!
Lol As his new movie approaches $500 million worldwide lol. Stop it, everyone of your favorite actors had their fair share of flops. If hes the "biggest joke" it's sad hes so much more successful than majority of other actors in Hollywood lol.
Fair, but were they as expensive as Dwayne Johnson's movies..?
“Actor” 😂
I think people are just sick of him after he tried to steal everyone's land In Hawaii
Haha omg I'm dead!! 😂😂😂
Pain and gain
Yeah that's fair, thanks for sharing!
Moana 2 just broke box office records so this video is outdated.
It’s not cause of the rock tho 💀
@@Fishy.dafish Yeah, if you look at movies that JUST star Dwayne Johnson and weren't by some big production company like Disney, you'll see what I mean maybe
Disney my guy
I dunno... my tween nieces went to see Moana 2 last weekend.. and they referred to it as a Disney movie, not a Rock movie... 🤷🏽♂️
But moana 2 broke mad records? Skyscraper made 304 million, rampage made 428 million both profited. Ur just not a fan of the rock
Well movies where hes yhe star fail
If its an ensemble film they do better
No he's not zegler is!
Unfortunately I think his celebrity went to his head and I think he forgot where he started, back when he slept on a pee stained mattress with $7 to his name
Maybe!
Steven Seagal 2.0
"tom-mate-oes." You're English!?!
Haha I've lived in America for 7 years sooo I have an English Americanized accent :/
