    Cliff this was SO enjoyable to watch! What a day. Thanks so much for sharing the fun. Some of those are HUGE! You can tell these guys have done this before. The little Hawk was struggling in that wind, but man you held on to it! The on board with the K7 was stunning.

      Glad you enjoyed it Adam, we could have done with a little less wind but good fun was had all day 🙂👍

    There is a chap in my club that would go about sticking his nose in saying “your only allowed to go up to 400 feet”! Sky’s the limit I say.
    This is how I started, with gliders.
    You learn more from gliders.

    • @CliffHarveyRCPlanes
      @CliffHarveyRCPlanes  2 месяца назад

      Then your chap would have been shot down because we haven't Notam in place up for 1500ft, still have to keep a watch out though cuz there's a lot of pilots who don't read them 😬👍

    I think if i had my mobility thats the way i would go large scale gliders after having a three times normal wot four to tow with. nice one cliff

      Hi Barry, mobility is important for these ships, especially as it's a 300 yard walk from the setting up area, cheers

    A long time ago we tried towing a Hobie Hawk behind my Telemaster and it did not go well. Ironically we were at an airport where we were flying the full size ones, towed behind old Cessna L-19 Bird Dogs. It was much easier when sitting behind the tow plane! I could do it at age 14.

    • @CliffHarveyRCPlanes
      @CliffHarveyRCPlanes  2 месяца назад

      Ha ha Angus, I can just imagine how that went, lovely model the Hobie Hawk with that lovely curved wing. I wouldn't have imagined the Bird Dogs being tow planes but I suppose there's no reason why not, cheers

      @@CliffHarveyRCPlanesL-19’s were perfect. War-time rugged, powerful STOL capable and huge windows all around the pilot (originally for artillery spotting in the Korean War). We had spare parts (wings, tailpieces ) stacked like firewood in the hangar. Edit: just realized you built the Guillows kit of this last year and two years ago

    That’s really cool with the planes taking up the gliders. Nice Red Arrows Show in between thier flights. Mind you I thought it was almost a crash display with those winds. Fun stuff Cliff. 🫡

    What time you guys usually fly here? Do you have a WhatsApp group? I fly at Exeter District RCC. But I want to try this spot too if u can with a motor glider.

    • @CliffHarveyRCPlanes
      @CliffHarveyRCPlanes  2 месяца назад +1

      Hi K, we do have a WhatsApp group but it's only for arranging flying times and it's limited to members only, however, if you are on the EDRCC What's App group we can have a chat because I'm a member of that club as well. Anyone can fly up there as it's public open land but as for when we're up there it all depends on the weather, if it's suitable for sloping members could be on the Moors 👍
