The NHL has NEVER seen something like this

  • During last nights Vancouver Canucks vs Edmonton Oilers game, we got to see a coach, who is getting fired, get sent off as a hero of sorts. I have never, in any professional sport never less in the NHL, seen a fired coach in the midst of a losing season get send off with a standing ovation. It was a beautiful scene to say the least. I cover this, the game and some extras in todays NHL hockey highlight recap video!

      @rado van Your comment (and the tools giving you a thumbs up) is very uninformed. They are salary-capped, they need to get rid of most of their expensive (some of them definitely aren't "better players"), have a couple really bad years so they can get 1st round draft picks and rebuild over 4-5 years. They will never win their division, never mind the cup if they continue running this shitshow the way they run it from a management position. They continually spend way too much on a couple underperforming players and have no depth. The Canucks need to lose, and lose a lot, so they can rebuild the franchise. But management thinks winning a few games here and there to keep the ticket sales going is more important.

  • @MistaZULE
    @MistaZULE Год назад +121

    The Boudreau situation is terrible. I was too young to really remember the Keenan years, but I have to feel this is somewhat similar although maybe a little less rage inducing than stripping Linden of the C and trading him after acquiring Messier.
    However, I think it's harder to stomach as a Canucks fan because almost everyone following the team as fans or neutrals realizes the true culprit of this mess is Aqualini, the owner. He fired Gillis for proposing a rebuild. He hired Benning who wanted to retool, not rebuild, fired Linden from President role for wanting a rebuild. Then fired benning for being crap and now hired Rutherford and Allvin to again retool, not rebuild.
    With the core of Petey, Bo, Hughes and Demko this team could have been something in a few years with moving pieces like Miller and Boeser to shore up the defense and maybe get a few blue chip prospects, but instead we're trading Bo for "young NHL C". It's like purgatory. it never ends.

    • @floydjackson1961
      @floydjackson1961 Год назад

      I'm sorry but how do you just trade Miller? Do you think other teams are stupid? The only way you trade Miller is throwing in something else significant like a high pick or Kuzmenko. Other GMs can read headlines too and I'm sure there aren't many who want to give the Canucks a break.

    • @mr.dramalama3969

      Yes it goes on and on my friends

    • @MistaZULE
      @MistaZULE Год назад +2

      @@floydjackson1961 trade Miller before the extension. Now we're stuck with him. Miller before the extension would have been a 2.75 mil (50% retained) top line C/W for a contender. That should have been at least a 1st, 2nd and a blue chip/A+ prospect, maybe even a 3rd/4th line roster player thrown in.
      Now he's too expensive to move.
      The other huge failure was the OEl trade. We were so close to having 12 million off the books at once in those three contracts but instead we moved them and a 1st (WJC golden medal winner Dylan Guenther) for OEL and Garland. I love Garland, but that trade was absolutely terrible.
      Those two moves have screwed this team for years.

    I remember when Pat Quinn was fired in favour of the guys who beat us in 1994 and I was furious. The late 90s were a dark time when there were rumours of the team moving to Seattle. This isn’t quite at that level, but because of social media, it’s amplified. I felt after 94, we were on the way down already but if we made a few smart moves, we could have been back there legitimately. If we’d found a way to get Mogilny without surrendering Peca. And kept Ronning, not pissed off Gretzky and avoided Messier. We might have needed to move on in goal anyway, but we weren’t that far away. Instead, we pissed of Bure, traded away most of the team and everything went to hell. This isn’t that, but it’s close. Everyone knows Bruce wasn’t the problem. But ownership refuses to let management do the job. They could have hired Smyl instead of Rutherford and Allvin. Steamer gets it. He’s been here since before I was born. Give him the reigns. He has earned it.

    Why would Tocchet, or anyone, want to go coach there after how the ownership has acted?
    Fantastic respect shown by Canucks fans.
    Wellbdone!

    Well I've been around hockey and played hockey all my life and I'm not young. the way I see it that coach Boudreau is as good as they come you are only as good as your team on the ice

    The club that have allowed this long slow torture of the coach is simply disgusting and nobody deserves to be treated like that ever.

    This situation has me finally giving up on this ownership and I may start cheering for the Kraken now. And I’ve been cheering for the Canucks since 1982.

    So great to see. Good job Vancouver. I can't stand Tochett, but I would hate to see any animosity shown towards him (well, maybe I wouldn't mind a little). I trust that Canuck fans have more class than to do something like that. Management might look into getting players rather than changing coaches.

    I think the announcement was supposed to be the day Gino passed, and they delayed out of respect. That is why everyone knew already.

    Just want to say thanks to the fans at that game for showing some nice support for Bruce in what everyone knew was his last game. It was heartwarming.
    Management/ownership needs to be on notice. Canucks fans deserve better than this. They will support the team through thick and thin (bitching and moaning all the way). But there is no support for the kind of treatment of people that's been exhibited by this organization.
