Getting ready to make my first batch of Yogurt today. Enjoy your reading BUT …I’m telling my age, …Dr. Davis’ voice sounds like the radio DJ Casey Kasem. I was waiting for him to finish by say “Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars.”❤️
Awesome Book. You really need about 100 million subscribers if we are going to change this Food Poisoning Industry. I hope you become extremely wealthy. You deserve it and I am still learning. I will do my best to spread your knowledge and make it easier for people to understand and I think the only way I can do that is to make your yogurt and gift it to people I love and see if it makes as much difference in their life as it has mine. Thank you for your sharing your gift of knowledge and research. I never go to Doctors, but in your case I would make the exception. Damn you are smart and I don't say that about too many people. I was able to make the l. reuteri in my oven just using the oven light. I've been making my own 1 gallon of whole milk lactobacillus and it works great. I did however buy TWO DIFFERENCE types of yogurt makers because this stuff is going to be in non-stop production and I can't keep the oven occupied with yogurt making but as an experiment, it seemed to work for me at just under 100 degrees from the light bulb. This chapter that you have read on Mucus explains what I thought from my near death experience of diverticulitis and how I fixed it with HIGH FAT INTAKE. Extremely High fat.
I've just finished reading the book. It is essential reading for those who care about their health. I have another l. reuteri yogurt in the making now.
Hi NA, just wondering, do you use a yogurt maker, instant pot or a stove top warmer burner to make your yogurt, and if you are using a yogurt maker, is it stainliess steel? I have not made it yet, I can't find organic a2 milk or cream, or goat milk in my neck of the woods, but I will contact 2 more farmers today. I would really like to make this yogurt (Crohn's, colitis and celiac). Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
@@doloresguertin9601 I am using the Lakeland Multi Yoghurt and Soft Cheese Maker from Amazon UK. It is plastic. I probably should have bought a glass or stainless-steel one, to avoid endocrine disruptors. I have yet to test the accuracy of the temperature setting, which I set to 40 degrees. The first three batches I made with full-cream UHT milk, which made for quite a sour yogurt, The one I made this week was with single cream, which tested much better and was quite a bit thicker. The starter I used was from a few capsules of NutriZing "Live Cultures for Women" (although I am not female) containing L.Reuteri and L. Rhamnosus. I also added two small scoops of inulin powder and left it for 36 hours or so. The next yogurt I will make with B. Coagulans. Hope it helps.
@@dpstrial Thanks so much for your reply, at least you are experimenting. I'm feeling a little intimidated, but still looking for goat milk. Ideally I would like raw milk, but that is a dead end where I am. I'm at this moment testing out the warming burner on the stove top and think I may start there. Most of the yogurt makers are plastic and the stainless steel ones that I see have heat settings that seem too high. Have a smooth day
@@doloresguertin9601 The only place you can legally buy raw milk in the UK is at a very small selection of farms. Some people make yogurt with milk alternatives. I have not tried them and am not likely to either. I don't think making yogurt is a particular art form, but what will be is choosing or finding the strains of bacteria that work for your gut. It sounds as though you need the species and strains that help produce and maintain mucus. Good luck.
Glad I bought this book. I've been making the yogurt for about 2 months and drinking the clove tea every day. after trying a myriad of other suggested remedies, this is the only one that actually works. It only took about 6 weeks of steady improvement on this regimen before achieving 100% remission.
can I also suggest that once you have the book in hand, check out Dr. Davis’ recipe for Super Gut SIBO Yogurt on page 240. This is brilliantly researched information that can allow for profound changes leading to better health and well being for all of us.
I am so busy making use of the practical tips that not had time to finish reading the book. Made two of the homemade yogurts so far and they both are far superior to anything bought in a store, and a super super cheap way to get plenty of healthy probiotics! Been taking the fiber XOS since 2017 but will now make some major additions to keep the akkermansia muciniphila in balance. I make a very delicious sauce to put on just about anything with garlic and turmeric and shallot and ginger cooked in olive oil and butter and with certain common spices added. Been using the sous vide stick not only for the yogurt but to cook chuck roasts that are tastier and more tender than the expensive steaks, and without the high temperature cooking that can alter proteins. Got a question. If the body has such robust ability to make saturated fat in the liver, why does it not have the same capacity to make unsaturated fat? ( Malcolm Kendrick mentioned that in his new book " The Clot Thickens " -- also excellent )
Extremely helpful - probably explains a bunch of my problems.... increased weird stuff since I had 2 feet of small intestine removed & then went grain free.
After decades of problematic bowel movements after eating large amounts of fiber, I recently discovered betaine HCL and am now for the first time in my life enjoying normal trips to the bathroom. I just bought this book and am looking forward to reading it, and recommended it to my nutritionist.

My reaction exactly. Finally something! I've known for 5 years now, that my gut flora is strongly disrupted. The only thing that temporarily helped were very costly spore-based probiotics. Keto helps too, but it's very far from enough.
This book does provide interesting information regarding gut microbes and their importance. It also includes some unique recipes. Unfortunately, the book is painfully repetitive. It also has an "advertising" style that detracts from the subject matter.
I was having lunch with my dog and listening to the podcast. My lunch was farm-raised chicken and sauerkraut. There is no surprise that the dog was begging for chicken, but he was also begging for sauerkraut. Smart dog! Good instincts!
Hi Dr. Davis I have all the ingredients to make the love yogurt I prefer to use coconut milk please tell me what extra ingredients are needed. Thanks Greg
are you referring to all ketogenic diets as insufficient in prebiotic intake? I actually find that my soluble fiber intake is significantly higher while I'm on a keto diet. I actually have to watch my fiber intake or I'll eat enough to cause a noticeable increase in my... gaseous probiotic byproducts
I wonder about fermenting with fruit. For example: bananas, after 72 hours of fermentation, the sugar content is reduced, so can the fermented bananas be eaten by diabetics?
Hello Dr. Davis Do u think copper can help probiotic populate the colon better because its anti bacterial properties ? And which probiotic would u suggest to someone with brain fog ,short memory and recall problems ? thx a lot
I have a question concerning your oxytocin producing yogurt, does this have the same detrimental effect to the brain that say taking ecstacy would have? Is this like doing drugs? Wouldn’t that put people at risk for schizophrenia, Alzheimer’s, and diseases related to the overuse of drugs? Or being that it’s a byproduct of the stomach flora is it different somehow?
Hello Dr, I'm reading your Super Gut book. I think that you are a genius. Question, is it safe to use 15 pills instead of 10 to make the l. reuteri yogurt ? Would that yield us even better results. ? Thank you.
No. No improved benefit. That's why Dr. D chose 10 tablets. His followers are actually now successfully experimenting with making "starter" batches using only one (1) tablet plus 1/4 cup Half and Half and1 teaspoon inulin which we ferment for 36 hours. This subsequent batch then can be used as a starter to make another full batch with the 2 Tablespoons of inulin and 1 full quart of Half and Half. We freeze the whey and extra yogurt in ice cube trays then pop the cubes out into Ziplock bags to store in the freezer as starters and on and on. This enables you to use your one BioGaia Gastrus purchase for years!!! It is working very well!! His groups have such fun being mad scientists in our kitchens with these probiotic adventures.
So I had a fecal fat test done because I was experiencing steatorrhea, it was considered Many. But sigA was 20.9. The Dr never addressed this but doesn't this mean my mucus barrier is compromised?
Dr. Davis often tells us to consider making each yogurt separately and to combine afterwards so that one bacteria doesn;t overpower the other; you then get full benefit of both!
Made the l reuteri yogurt at 100 degrees for 36 hrs exactly according to the Super Gut book recipe...it's a curdled STINKY mess...ugh...(luvelle yogurt maker) HELP
I just made mine for the 1st time. It was a little liquidy at 1st but I put it in the fridge as it was supposed to. It came out beautifully. My suggestion is to check the temperature of your incubator whatever you are using.
First batch syndrome. Use 1 tablespoon of the whey and 1 tablespoon of the curds to make your second batch. You don’t need the L. Reuteri tablets for the second, third, fourth etc. batches when you do this.
Great read. Hope it will help with my Rosacea! One thing… a big shame it’s all in US units. Would be really good to have a bit of consideration for the rest of the world, ie Celsius and ml 😎 instead of those strange cups, Ferenheight and things! Those units are from the stone age!!
Just did my first rheturi 36hr ferment and chucked it straight in the fridge. Gonna check on it after work, hopefully it didnt turn out like smelly dik cheese
First batches often appear to be failures, but we use them as starters for subsequent batches. Use 2 Tbsp or 1/4 cup instead of the tablets in next batch.

I'd love to have Dr Davis read the whole book, as an audio book, his enthusiasm always shines thru!
not only that, he also makes almost no errors. It's jarring to listen to reading where errors are made semi-regularly.
Sinks into my brain a little easier !
Amen! That would be something that would have finally conceed to getting an audio book account.. I would have no choice!
Yes, I agree
